Palm House is a 3 bed 3 bath property in the heart of a bustling harbour, reputed to be the oldest house still in use on Kefalonia we do not have the exact date of construction but the house is first mentioned on a Venetian plan of the port dated 1756 then called Porto Santa Efimia.
The house was owned by Count Deladetsima who fell on hard times and the house was auctioned in 1874 when the family of the current owners purchased it.
The house is fully modernised with air conditioning, airy spacious bedrooms, tiled modern bathrooms, balcony's overlooking the harbour and a private terrace at the rear, the living area has generous proportions with plenty of comfortable sofas and a large kitchen diner.
Ideally situated with restaurants, bar's, and beaches all within a short stroll Palm House is one of the very best available in the north of the island.
Palm House is an exquisite amalgam of century-old tradition and refreshingly modern aesthetics. Once you find yourselves in this landmark mansion, time and place seem to fade and intensify at the same time. Maintaining an imposing exterior of the quaint Eptanisian architecture, the high-ceiling, minimalistic interior constitutes a welcome surprise. The distinctive details – like contemporary art work, elegant stiff and curvy furniture lines, accompanied by authentic, vintage Greek and Japanese pieces for a fascinating, well-balanced combination of styles, colors and textures – complement harmoniously the sensational sea and harbor views from all the frontal and side windows of the house. Whether in the living room, in the kitchen or in the bedrooms, there is one impression that prevails: being on the front deck of a ship, cruising the turquoise sapphire waters of one of the most picturesque harbors in the Mediterranean.
As effortless as it is to feel part of this vibrant scenery of sails and strolling passerby, completely zoning out is just as easy. The fully renovated mansion is entirely soundproof, thanks to the one-meter, extra soundproofing layer of its walls and floors. However, the feelings of lightness and serenity evoked on the guests go far beyond Palm House’s technical excellence. The property is a true oasis of calm and privacy in all its aspects. The external walls of the property topped by a discreet fence ensure you the ultimate protection from any potential unsolicited, street-level look. Enjoy your meal at the peacefully sheltered patio, surrounded by fresh flowers and overlooking the boundless horizon spanning from the port of Same and Odysseus’s Ithaca, to the endless Ionian blue. A few oar-railed steps down, give in to the relaxing experience of the spacious rear terrace, where stylish 5-meter, built-in, trendy-pillowed sofas and minimalistic sunbeds are there to accommodate your morning sunbathing, afternoon cocktails and dinner fests, all the while relishing the central harbor front location and card-postal view. Alternatively, sit back and enjoy some people-watching on the – renowned throughout the village – balcony, which bears the house’s unique Venetian symbol.
