One of three charming cottages in a converted cortijo sharing a stunning pool overlooking rural olive groves. Guide book recommended by Alastair Sawday peace and tranquility combined with access to the cultural centres of Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and Antequera. All three are available for rental so do approach us if Casita Liebre is unavailable.
Joint facilities are shared by a maximum of 10 guests.
Casita Liebre (meaning Little Hare Cottage) is reached through the original farmyard doors leading into the courtyard.
Accessed from the courtyard, the accommodation is based in the oldest part of the reformed Cortijo with low beamed ceilings and niches retained from the original building.
The original walls are thick, providing coolness in the summer and retaining warmth in the winter. There is a lounge, with large comfortable Moorish style divan sofas and a log burner for cool winter evenings. There is also satellite television. French doors provide light and access to the courtyard. An open staircase leads upstairs
A low doorway takes you into the fully equipped kitchen which also opens onto the courtyard through French doors.
There is a full sized electric oven/ hob plus a fridge with a small freezer compartment:essential for cooling the local beer and wine! A good range of plates, pots, glasses etc. allow for home from home, relaxed food preparation. Basics (such as salt, pepper, oil, washing up liquid etc.) are provided as part of our service. There is a kitchen table to seat four for dining.
Upstairs there are two twin/double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, under a pitched beamed roof. Both bedrooms have comfortable twin beds (or a double, if required); a wardrobe; a small dressing table and each opens into a bathroom with walk-in shower; toilet and basin.
Outside there is a large private courtyard planted with jasmine and lavender, surrounded by traditional high white walls. You are not overlooked by the other casitas. There is outside seating for relaxing and a table for eating, with sails providing shade on our hot Andaluz summer days. A barbecue allows you to make the most of outside living.
A beautiful house set in a scenic location.

Gillian and Marylynne have done everything to make this place feel like a home away from home. It’s well appointed, with everything you could need - we cooked each night in the well stocked kitchen, did our laundry, used the pool and benefited from their local knowledge for trips around the area. We even came home to a nice warm fire on a couple of rainy days! A really special place and one I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. The only tip I’d give is to get a good hire car. Ours was a small engine and struggled a bit on some of the steep curves on the road up to the house. It’s worth the journey as the scenery is spectacular, but you’ll want a solid motor if you want to be able to enjoy the views!
Not enough superlatives for this place!
By Helen, London on 30-Apr-2018
We stayed in Liebre with 2 young children and has the most amazing time. The weather was pretty poor, normally in a rental house that could be miserable, but not here; a cosy fire was roaring when we arrived, thick duvets, blankets and heating. The owners kit the fire for us everyday we went out, such a thoughtful touch. The house is beautifully furnished and lit and I cannot wait to return. We explored lots in the local area, the owners had lots of recommendations to help us. Such good value too.

This is a wonderful location for a peaceful holiday, completely away from it all. My husband and I stayed here for two very relaxing weeks in April, during which time we both had significant birthdays. Gillian and Marylynne could not have been more helpful. They recommended restaurants, organised birthday meals and surprises and suggested lovely locations to visit. All the casitas are sympathetically decorated and maintained to a comfortable standard with private courtyards. From the pool and patio there are stunning views of olive groves on hillsides. It was a stunning place to stay.
A Lovely Stay in Casita Liebre
By Liza on 31-Oct-2017
My family and I had a lovely stay at Casita Liebre, because of the warm hospitality of Gillian and Marylynne. The casita was beautiful, clean and really fully equipped (that last fact is, in my experience, a rare thing in most holiday apartments). Gillian and Marylynne were very helpful and had good recommendations about what to do in the surroundings and where to eat. Because of that, we had a perfect stay in Andalusia. Of my 19 Airbnb-experiences so far, I can say our stay in Casita Liebre was the best. I would recommend everyone, who is looking for a quiet and easy holiday in Andalusia, to visit Gillian and Marylynne.

The Casita Liebre at Cortjio Las Rosas was delightfully furnished to the highest standard. Great care had been taken to make the accommodation as comfortable as possible. The location is beautifully quiet with wonderful views. Gillian and Marylynne were very helpful in every respect even completing a supermarket visit because of our sunday arrival! They contributed invaluable information about the locale and the outstanding places one wants visit in Andalusia, while being discrete. The Casita's courtyard was perfect for sitting in the morning sun, or under the stars at night.
A Relaxing Break
By Pamela on 30-Oct-2017
Gillian and Marylynne were exceptional hosts and provided everything we needed both in advice and in amenities. We had a wonderful stay in the Casita Liebre. The location was great for a relaxing break between Seville and Granada. The accommodations were clean and they provided everything we needed and more. I'd recommend them without reservation.
What a wonderful week we had!
By Julia Hussey on 24-Oct-2017
What a wonderful week from beginning to end. Marylyn and Gillian made us feel really welcome with a fantastic pre booked hamper to get us started and concise instructions as to our safe arrival.
The Cortijo is beautifully presented and every effort has been made to providing a very comfortable stay. We travelled with two very excitable preteenagers and were extremely grateful for the large selection of pool toys, books and games to keep them from asking for the dreaded electronic tranquillisers!
Marylyn was a wealth of information and pointed us in the direction of a local archeological dig and areas of historical interest. Although we did not visit the major tourist attractions in Cordoba and Granada we found plenty to keep us occupied and are planning our next visit to this wonderful part of rural Spain.
Sending a huge thank you to you both, Gillian and Marylyn, we had a great day in Malaga too! X
A Fantastic Stay
By Francesca on 31-Aug-2017
We had fantastic stay at Las Rosas in casita Perdiz. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so very welcome. The casita was beautiful, with great attention to detail, and with everything we could possibly need. Our children, 17 and 11, loved it all, as did we...the peace and tranquility, the lovely pool with spectacular views, the outdoor dining and the wealth of games and inflatables available! Gillian and Marylynne were incredibly helpful, and have an in-depth knowledge of the everywhere there is to go for a great day out. Las Rosas is a very special place to stay, and hard to beat.
By Lars & Mette Jensen on 13-Aug-2017
Wonderful appartment with all the facilities you need. The house is located in beautyful surroundings in the middle of the olive fields, so there is some way to drive to the nearby towns. Gillian and Marylynne are wonderful hosts and they are always ready to give advice about restaurants, towns, attractions etc.
The welcome-pack is definetely worth the money and contains everything you need for the first days.
This place is really worth visiting, and we would be happy to come back another time.
Countryside relaxation with City adventure
By Kenneth Balslev-Pfeffer on 02-Aug-2017
Cortijo Las Rosas is perfect if you like to have choices. When tranquillity was our desire we stayed at the beautiful clean pool area where you will meet other residents. If we wanted to go somewhere there are several smaller and larger towns all either 10 minutes (Iznajar), 30 minutes (Priego de Cordoba and Antequera) or 60-80 minutes (larger cities like Cordoba, Granada, Ronda) drive away. If we wanted to do our own cooking there were all the necessary tools. The Sisters keep everything tidy and in perfect order and you can always ask them for advice/recommendations.
Farmhouse nestled amongst the olive groves
By Michaela on 31-Jul-2017
The farmhouse nestled amongst the Olive groves has been lovingly restored. Gillian and Marylynne have thought of everything from the fantastic welcome pack, to their advice on places to visit and local restaurant recommendations, such as Casa Piolas which provided a memorable dining experience. Casita Liebre was spotless, comfortable and well equipped with thoughtful attention to design detail evident throughout. The casita is perfect for a peaceful relaxing holiday lounging by the pool while being within easy reach of Alhambra, Cordoba and Malaga on the coast. Thank you for a magical holiday.
Cortijo Las Rosas: Highly recommended
By Lucie Arsenault on 08-May-2017
Gillian and Marylynne’s Cortijo las Rosas near Iznajar is a real gem! I found this peaceful retreat quite by chance, lucky me! I really needed a rest after many many days of traveling and visiting. And this place was perfect place to settle down, rest my brain and soul and breath fresh air. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I arrived at their house after quite a fun journey up the twisting road. You never know exactly when you will arrive but you must trust Gillian´s absolute detailed road indications. It is impossible to miss the place. Once I unpacked, saw the pool and the olive trees around the house, smell the jasmine which climbs the jasmine that climbs the wall of the casita, I knew I did not want to leave. It was exactly how I pictured paradise! Minutes after my arrival, I extended my stay for 2 more nights. I would have stayed more if I didn’t have other commitment.
Iznajar is in the middle of Andalucia, so you can go to Cordoba, to Granada, to Malaga pretty easily then come back home and relax.
I was given la Casita Galgo, a two-story apartment with my bedroom on the main floor and the kitchen and living room up the stairs. Lovely place! Every detail is designed so that the guest feels at home. Nothing is missing. Gillian and Marylynne check in once in a while to see if everything’s fine, which was at any time, obviously. The system of stars here is practically obsolete! I would give a zillion stars. The hosts are brilliant, the site is magical, the environment a delight. I’m sure I will be back. I just want to share this little piece of paradise with the ones I love
Gillian and Marylynne, I have no word to express my gratitude!

It is not possible to say enough positive things about Cortijo Las Rosas! Everything was superb: from our Casita, to the grounds of the Cortijo, to its owners! We enjoyed every second!
Cortijo Las Rosas is up in the countryside, about 10-15 minutes above the adorable town of Iznajar. The road up hill is beautiful and the last part of it on a track through the olive grove! (A normal car is fine to make this journey, and the hosts' directions are truly perfect, you can't get lost!)
We stayed in Casita Liebre. It was very spacious, having a living room, fully equipped kitchen, and two bedrooms both with full ensuite bathrooms. We opted for the lovely Welcome Pack of food, and it was very generously stocked with local goodies! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. We took advantage and cooked dinner several nights during our stay. The bedrooms are spacious, with very comfortable beds. The grounds of the Cortijo are very quiet and peaceful, a perfect retreat. They have a lovely pool area, perfect for relaxing! Washing machine, dryer, ironing board, extra fridge/freezer, hair dryers, pool toys, board games...honestly everything you would need is here!
The location of Cortijo Las Rosas also makes it fantastic for day-trips. We took several day trips to Granada, Córdoba, Ronda, Nerja, and Malaga. Our fantastic hosts, Gillian and Marylynne, had printed out directions, parking advice, and "must-sees" for us, for each city! Truly helpful! And the best part of each of these day-trips was coming "home" to our peaceful Casita!
We have traveled routinely throughout Europe for the past decade (or so) and rented numerous properties, this one was certainly a top favorite! Our stay at Cortijo Las Rosas was truly a highlight of our trip and we can't thank Gillian and Marylynne enough! We look forward to coming back and having a relaxing time at your Spanish Countryside Retreat!
Great Place to Stay
By Julia Woolland on 21-Mar-2016
My daughters and I rented a beautiful 2 bedroom cottage at Cortijo Las Rosas. The setting was superb right beside an inviting swimming pool and nestled amongst picturesque olive tree studded hills, with far reaching views and amazing sunsets. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and was very well equipped. The peaceful location is ideal for visiting Cordoba, Granada and several other smaller towns of great interest.
Fantastic break and one to be repeated!

Dean and I have been to Cortijo las Rosas before and we really looked forward to going back! We stayed in Casita Perdiz which is a very spacious, clean, well appointed self catering suite of rooms. Everything you need to make it an enjoyable stay is right there! There is lots of information, guides and maps in the casita to help you chose a day’s outing or you can just sit and chill by the pool with a good book! It’s just a great location to have a wonderful relaxing time.! Gillian and Marylynne are wonderful hosts and are very helpful and knowledgeable and are very pleased to help with any queries or questions you may have. There are many lovely local restaurants and there is a very good supermarket which has everything you may need! Some nice wines in there too! We think there is something for everyone be it wildlife, walking or a visit to some of the many historical sites in some of the towns or cities. Dean and i have had a great time and look forward to future visits. Thanks Gillian and Marylynne for making our visit such a fabulous one!
Jewel in the Andalusian crown
By Matthew Wareing on 07-Mar-2016
After searching for the perfect rural getaway my partner and I came across Cortijo Las Rosas. Nestled in rolling olive groves the Cortijo offers the discerning visitor peace and tranquility and you can feel the stress of the daily 9-5 slog melting away as soon as you arrive. The drive to the Cortijo offers some spectacular views of lake Iznajar, the surrounding countryside and Iznajar itself. Our accommodation was the gorgeous Casita Galgo which was tastefully decorated and had it's own courtyard which was perfect for those evening BBQ's. If lounging around the pool gets too much for you we found the Cortijo the perfect springboard to go off exploring the surrounding areas, and there was lots of information provided to help us decide where to go. Gilly, Marylynne and Steve made our stay a memorable one and we would like to thank you all very much for your warm welcome and expert knowledge of the local places of interest. A big thanks to Steve for taking us out on a bike ride along the Via Verde. We will definitely be coming back to Cortio Las Rosas. We loved it!
