Description

El Cortijo de Los Siete Olivos. A unique 150 year old farmhouse, restored to retain its original character, with beautiful panoramic views over olive groves and across the valley to the Parapanda mountain. The whitewashed house with low-beamed ceilings, nestles on a hillside under dark holm oak trees. Although fully modernised it avoids the sterility that can characterise recently renovated buildings, it has a warm ambience in which vernacular old -style interior fittings seem to merge organically with the walls and floor in traditional Andalucian fashion. The accommodation consists of the farmhouse and a little adjoining house, each with its own secluded terrace and own facilities. There is a charming pool set in natural stone, and a 'wild' garden with pomegranate, almond and olive trees. The main house has three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds, the third has a double and a single. There are two bathrooms, and a small upstairs kitchen with fridge. Upstairs has access to its own terrace and to the exterior, which is useful for two families sharing. Downstairs has a small bedroom, large bathroom, kitchen and living room with sofa, chairs and a dining table, that opens onto a large shady terrace with a permanent wooden table which seats 8/10 people. A cot, a camp bed and a high chair are also available
The small house 'La Casita' is available for an extra £50 per week. La Casita is a studio apartment with separate kitchen and bathroom, with a double bed and a bunk bed over the double, suitable for a child ( not an infant/toddler) ( see photo).
Visits
The house stands amidst olive groves and there are many beautiful walks from your front door , including to historic medieval and stone age sites. The small town of Montefrio is a lovely 40 minute walk, but only 5 min drive from the house. There are many bars and cafes, plus small supermarkets, bakery pharmacy, etc where you can find all you need for your stay. Many beautiful small towns are a short drive away and from Montefrio there is great access to south and west Andalucia especially to the the magnificent city of Granada, only 45km away.

There is plenty of information in the house about its history, and also walking and tourist maps of the surrounding area. The rich and fascinating history of this part of Spain is evident everywhere. In fact, the view of Montefrio with its moorish fort overlooking town is lauded by National Geographic Spain as one of the ten best panoramas in the world!

Formidable sejour a Montefrio

By Gilles DuvelleroyGilles on 09-Aug-2022

8/9/2022 at 6:12 AM

The Farm of Seven Olive Treez

By Kevin Cruikshank on 04-Sep-2022

We have just returned home from our 2 week stay at The Farm of the Seven Olive Trees. A traditional rustic Spanish farmhouse set amongst the hills and olive trees of Montefrio. A house with a colourful past whose walls have many stories. Here is its latest story which we feel privileged to have been part of. This is our story. Firstly if you are looking for opulent flat screen TV’s, hi-tech gadgets and the luxuries and excesses of modern living then The House of Seven Olive Trees probably isn’t for you. If you desire an authentic experience that can’t be bought from a brochure and an opportunity to be transported back to simpler times amongst the olive trees which are the very heartbeat of Montefrio, stunning panoramic scenery and sunsets that render you speechless then The Farm of the Seven Olive Trees could just be your nirvana. We finished our stay as a family by all agreeing it was our best family holiday together. We combined lazy days by the pool enjoying all too precious family time just taking in the surroundings and atmosphere with day trips to more famous landmarks such as Granada and the famous Alhambra, Sierra Nevada mountains and further afield the Andalusian capital Seville. However Montefrio kept calling us back and had captured our hearts, some of our best memories were much simpler ones however, just enjoying a respite from the mid-afternoon sun by sitting in the shade in some of the local bars enjoying cold drinks, delicious warm tapas (that are usually served free!) and enjoying the infectious hospitality and smiles of the locals that somehow managed to outshine and surpass the scenery which has been voted one of the top ten village views of the world. We finished the holiday by running out of time! We all wanted one last round of tapas, swim in the pool, sunset and bottle of wine! However more importantly we left a much happier, content and closer family for our experinces. Like the romantic Montefrio sunsets I enjoyed sharing each evening with my wife on the terrace. All good things come to an end but Montefrio and The House of the Seven Olive Tree will always live on in our memories. As we didn’t get to see and do everything we wanted to do we have the perfect excuse to come back for that dish we never got to order from Bar Pregonero! When we do come back I truly hope absolutely nothing has changed.

Our best villa ever!!!

By Susie C on 20-Aug-2017

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful villa. I am always looking for a place like this to stay and they are so rare to find. Romantic authentic rustic and beautiful. The views and location are stunning. The pool was big and provided hours of entertainment. the separate casita was brilliant for hosting friends and mother. Montefrio is a beautiful walk away and is a real gem if authentic Spain is what you are looking for. We loved it, very pretty, friendly and full of character. Margaret the owner was the perfect host providing gems of advice and wisdom, and always replied to our enquiries straight away so generously. 30/8/2017 at 08:44
