Villa Ionia is unique. On the enchanting Greek Island of Corfu, there are no other rental villas that offer the combination of exquisite sea, sunset and local island views, 4 double ensuite bedrooms (all with wonderful sea views and large balconies) and, un-overlooked privacy. It's not surprising therefore that Villa Ionia is widely considered to be "one of the finest homes available for rent on the entire Western coast of Corfu" and has quickly become the choice of an increasing number of high profile guests from the film, television and music industries.
Ionia occupies a truly enviable position amidst 1.5 acres of tranquil hillside, clad in olive groves, cypress pines and a plethora of flora, yet the resort and beach are just a few minutes drive away or a pleasurable walk with a local shop and bakery just a short walk.
By day, lunch around the pool, or at one of the lovely authentic family run tavernas on the beachfront or in one of the country lanes behind. Or perhaps try one of the contemporary restaurants offering fabulous nouveau Greek cuisine. By evening the sunsets from Villa Ionia are amongst the most beautiful in the Mediterranean as they transform the local islands to silhouettes, never the same on any two nights.
Villa Ionia is best suited to independent travellers and in that respect we wanted to create a home that offers the comforts and facilities expected in a villa but in a location that is best described as being the real Greece, rather than a tourist version of it. To that end, we chose Arrilas, away from the madding crowds of the more touristic East coast and far enough away from other busier resorts.
In Arillas there are no hoards of rowdy BBQ boat day trippers flooding the tavernas and beaches and no wild nightclubs. There are instead a select choice of chic but inexpensive wine and cocktail bars for the perfect pre-dinner drink whilst watching the setting sun.
The rustic and peaceful location of the house opens to numerous walks through several local villages, along the coastline, through olive groves, meandering country tracks or cliff-top footpaths. On the seafront a small selection of water sports are available as is boat hire and the beach itself, awarded the coveted EU Blue Flag, is of fine golden sand and the incredibly clear water is shallow making it ideal for children.
For its size (about 2500 square feet) Villa Ionia is also one of the most spacious homes on the island. It was designed to maximise space and light - from its 65 square metre open plan lounge kitchen dinning room to the wonderful painted beamed and vaulted ceilings in the first floor bedrooms which all have very large balconies, and the wall to wall glass doors and window sections in the sea facing wall of the lounge. In fact every room in the house affords breathtaking seas views.
Naturally Villa Ionia is equipped with all essential modern facilities including air-conditioning throughout, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, Ascaso professional espresso and cappuccino coffee machine, Wi Fi internet access, a large flat screen television screen and a host of other items and facilities. Most unusually rentals cars are included with Villa Ionia. Of course for those requiring the additional services of a cook, nanny, masseuse or even a personal guide, these can be arranged.
Externally, Villa Ionia offers lounge seating for 10, sun loungers, parasols and of course dinning table and chairs. Recent additions include: a 40 square metre poolside terrace extension finished in African hardwood decking and a large pergola covering the 12 seat stone and marble statement dining table with olive press wheels forming the base - a fabulous shady lunch spot.
The swimming pool has just been fitted with a new Eco-Clear mineral water oxygen purification system meaning no chlorine or other chemicals, no ozone, salt or reverse osmosis, just pure mineral water! - "It's like swimming in Evian" ! Across the shallow end of the swimming pool, full-width steps were incorporated into the design, making it a great place to sit with a cool drink.
Most people that choose Villa Ionia, do so for the same reasons that we chose to build it in this location. We look forward to welcoming you to Villa Ionia.

I have recently returned from a very memorable family holiday, at villa Ionia, to celebrate my Mother's 70th birthday. It was my first visit to the beautiful island of Corfu and I doubt I could have found a nicer place to stay.
Ionia is a lovely stylish villa in an idyllic setting with magnificent views from both the large open plan living area and the well equipped poolside. In addition to the luxurious living space Ionia boasts four double bedrooms, each of which benefits from en suite facilities.
Although far enough away to allow for total relaxation and privacy Ionia is just a stones throw away from the delightful resort of Arillas where you will find a choice of pleasant, inviting and affordable restaurants.
Villa Ionia - Breathtaking perfection
By Katie MacL on 26-Jun-2017
Villa Ionia is perfection. It nestles gently on a hillside olive grove overlooking Arillas, close enough to allow you to drink cocktails on the beach at sunset but far enough away to make you feel that you're within touching distance of heaven. As four lifelong school friends we celebrated 200 years of friendship and gorgeousness in a villa that technically sleeps 12 but could comfortably accommodate 20. With a fresh and calm double en suite room each and a huge amount of indoor and outdoor space to relax in, Ionia provided us with every luxury needed to ensure the perfect break from busy lives. John and Iannis met us at the airport and offered to drive us to Villa Ionia which was appreciated after a long journey. When we reached the villa, the view from the panoramic floor to ceiling windows was breathtaking as was the champagne chilling in the fridge! The stunning infinity swimming pool helped us keep cool as the sun beat down on the private deck and the giant shaded marble table was a perfect spot to enjoy long, lazy lunches. The car was ideal for popping to the supermarket or picking up freshly made bread from the local baker in the morning. Arillas is a 20 min walk downhill but a more challenging hike on the way back, so John advised us to pop into the family run Arkokal Travel to arrange taxis home - well worth the 7 Euros! Arillas isn't the most picturesque village in Corfu but it's comfortably one of the most friendliest with a warm atmosphere and great tavernas serving local dishes. John was the perfect host all week and saw to our every need, including driving us into the mountains for lunch at Foros Taverna, Old Peritheia cooked by Thomas and his wife (of Rick Stein fame). John also showed us the stunning delights of Akrotiri Lounge perched on the hill top overlooking Arillas and Agios Stefanos, where we could have stayed forever drinking cold wine and watching the the sun rise and set. Ionia was so enchanting we were reluctant to explore, but Corfu town and the monastery at Paleokastritsa were worth a visit. Corfu surprised us on so many levels including the lushness and similarity to Italian landscapes. Villa Ionia, Arillas, our host and our holiday were faultless - thank you, will definitely return one day x
Beautiful House owned and managed by beautiful people
By Travel_the_world21 on 01-Oct-2016
From beginning to end our Villa Ionia experience was absolutely amazing, John the owner was wonderful from beginning to end. We were concerned about arriving on the late flight and he asked a friend to meet us at the airport and showing us the way! Thanks again to Ian for taking us there! Upon arrival we met Marketa at the house, she was going to be our contact whilst in the villa and she made sure everything's was perfect for our arrival, much more than we could've expected, wine, cheese, fresh bread! We certainly hadn't plenty to enjoy our late check in and not have to worry about stocking th eladder till way after breakfast!
The villa is everything and more than I had imagined, we had everything we needed at any time, perfectly equipped with great quality everyday items which made us feel really at home. There is space and harmony in this house, you have several areas to relax and enjoy the views.
The pool is clean and fresh and again overlooking a wonderful scenery sea, town, mountains.
The house and grounds are fabulous, the views form all the terraces and the sun deck are inspiring.
I feel you want a hassle free holiday in a wonderful place and the best service Villa Ionia will certainly not disappoint! Thank you all for letting us into your home and letting us share your bit of heaven!

It’s not often that a place looks exactly like the brochure or website photos; but this IS as stunningly gorgeous as it looks online! Great spot between Afionas, Agios Georgios, Arillas, Agios Stefanos etc. Set back off the road, down a private track, Villa Ionia is beautifully designed; very roomy with 4 en-suite bedrooms (sheer luxury!), lots of living space with huge French windows over the rear patio and pool; perfect accommodation for families and/or friends. The views over the Diaponti Islands are beyond words and the sunsets are a photographers dream! We stayed in June when the sun doesn’t go down until 8.30pm/9pm; we loved the long days and warm evenings. The villa is well kitted out with everything you would want to make your holiday stress-free and totally relaxing. We used the BBQ outside a lot and enjoyed alfresco dining round the huge outdoor table! If you want to dine out, within a 10-minute drive, you’ll find The Night Owl on the way to Afionas (best pork chops ever!). Further up you’ll find Evdemon (you have to book!), and at the top (park and walk) you’ll find Anemos and Café Timoni. And the other way in Agio Stefanos is Akrotiri Café – fantastic for sundowners! Villa Ionia is so special you almost want to keep it a secret! Look no further, THIS IS IT!
Fabulous Villa in a fantastic location
By JOMLL on 13-Sep-2015
We had the pleasure of staying at Villa Ionia in early Sep and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. John the villa owner was extremely helpful throughout the process from booking, catering for our groups needs and on hand during our stay. The villa itself is set in a great location with wonderful views over the neighbouring village of Arillas and only a short drive from all the lovely restaurants and beaches which there are many in close proximity. The villa has everything you need from a good size infinity pool, large living dining space and a great sun deck for sunbathing and taking in the views. We would certainly recommend a stay and hope to return in the future.
Super house for relaxing holiday
By Sally H on 12-Sep-2015
A wonderful holiday destination and home for relaxing, peacefulness and views. Great layout of the super house. Loads of outside quality furniture. Beautiful outdoor table in the shade for meals. House cool and lots of room. Kitchen is well equipped for your holiday needs. John the owner was exeptionally helpful for advise on where to eat and any other needs. All the tavernas made beautiful Greek dishes and the Night Owl in a nearby village is a must, as is Kosta on the beach by the sea. If you want a relaxing, beach and villa holiday, give here a try. A car is required or hire scooters/quads locally.
Lovely house in a lovely place
By Bown on 21-Nov-2014
Delighted that we found Villa Ionia. A smart, very spacious and extremely comfortable house with everything on board and meticulously looked after. It had very large grounds as described but because of its open outlook to the natural surroundings; lots of olive groves, cypress forests and flora, it felt as though the house was set in a very large estate stretching across the entire hillside, really very special. The small resort was close enough to walk, bit of a hill coming back up but worth every stride for the view from the villa which was simply breathtaking. We watched the sunset from the terrace through more than half of our stay. Lovely local tavernas serving incredibly tasty food as is expected in Greece and not overrun by any standard. We feel that Villa Ionia and the town of Arillas is probably he most comprehensive combination we have found in many years of independent travel and would not hesitate to recommend it to families that need a thoroughly relaxing stay in a fine home and in a clearly up and coming smart area.
Superb home with wonderful views
By Thorney on 07-Nov-2014
A blissful fortnight at Villa Ionia was complimented by perfect weather and the hospitality of the owner John who was always close by if we needed anything - we were in need of nothing because everything was perfect except for the photographs that were displayed on this site - because even though they look beautiful they do not completely do the house justice. When we arrived we were all stopped in our tracks at the sheer splendour of the view before us and at this lovely house that we were fortunate enough to have for a fortnight (it was not long enough) The house and pool were kept immaculately clean, the layout had a lovely flow about it, a very functional home with everything we could ask for, the space was far more than even our party of eight needed and the peacefulness of the location provided much needed calm after a very stressful few business months. A very special house in a very pretty area with a sunset view over the sea and some islands just off the coast to die for. Its not a commercial area and thankfully there are not endless streets of bars and restaurants, but what Arillas does have is a selection of very authentic tavernas and some nouveau greek restaurants and bars. We particularly enjoyed, Brouklis, Thomas' fish taverna which is actually called Vavillias, Thalassa, Costas place, an old village style taverna near the Affionas village called The Night Owl and Ianni and Litsa who have small but really lovely restaurant with an amazing view a bit further up the hill. Theres a couple of super bars for an early evening drink called Amos on which is on the beach in Arillas and up on a cliff top theres a cafe bar called Acrotiri. All in all Arillas is lovely, Villa Ionia is a must stay, and we MUST return.

I booked Villa Ionia for 6 adults and 3 young children (4, 2 and 21 months) for 7 nights in May/June 2014 and the villa did not disappoint. The villa slept the 9 of us comfortably with enough room to have your own personal space if need be on one of the three personal balconies off each of the upstairs bedrooms or lazing on one of the 8 sun lounges on the deck overlooking the pool and Arillas.
The villa itself is extremely impressive with all the mod cons, large open plan living area on the ground floor with floor to ceiling glass to take full advantage of the views over Arillas. As soon as we stepped foot into the villa we all felt relaxed and at ease.
The location was ideal for us as we were looking for somewhere where you are not overlooked and close enough to the beach and tavernas, villa Ionia ticked all the boxes. The locations shots do not do the villa justice and the view from the pool over Arillas is amazing.
From the moment I first made contact with John the owner right through leaving the villa it was stress free experience. John was at the end of the phone if and when we needed some advice on local tavernas, beaches etc. which was great. Our favourite taverna being Brouklis, give it a try.
We will defiantly be back at some stage in the future, hopefully for 14 nights next time!
Living the Greek Dream

Amazing fortnight. Villa so beautiful-kept immaculately by owner. Couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed with 8 adults mostly-and a baby. Super location for children with blue flag beach and sand. At the end we had a night with 10-and the villa was quite comfortable. Delicious local food. We would highly recommend. Definitely need a car.

A little piece of heaven
By Richard A on 17-Feb-2014
Having spent many a family holiday renting a number of houses on the North East coast of Corfu, the island we have always been most drawn to, we thought it would be fun to try a small resort on the North West called Arillas as we had begun to hear positive comments about the area. We came across Villa Ionia in an on-line magazine article. It looked beautiful in the photographs but it was a bit of gamble as we had never even visited that side of the island except for a trip to Paleocastritsa several years ago. Arillas is a charming little spot, really very un-commercial compared to some parts of the other coast, but still has an ample choice of tavernas and a few stylish bars and we would probably recommend all of them. It's an un-pretentious town and doesn't have to be because it knows what it has to offer, something that our beloved North East has sadly become over the years. We found Arillas to be spotlessly clean ( as was the house) and the sea and beach looked as pure and unpolluted as some of the most remote caribbean islands. The resort surroundings were lovely; naturally beautiful with a little bit of agricultural activity in the valley. Every establishment in the area oozed friendship, and it has to be said, prices that it seemed hadn't risen in over a decade. Villa Ionia was simply superior in almost every department to our past rentals. It was incredibly spacious, bright, airy and the views...we would challenge anyone to find finer views which from this house also boasted an utterly breathtaking sunset over three gorgeous islands just off the coast. It confirmed for us that this side of the island has a big future for families like ours that have, we must admit, been a little blinkered. Villa Ionia and its location on the North West Coast has captured our hearts and our imagination. Thank-you again.
Stunning location of Villa Ionia made this a holiday to remember
By Wraysburyresident on 06-Nov-2013
We stayed at the Villa Ionia in September as a party of four couples, all friends, who have holidayed together on a number of previous occasions. We chose it because there were four bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and it was in a peaceful corner of the island with its own pool. We were not disappointed. The view from the villa at any time of day is simply wonderful and it was so relaxing just to sit around the pool area gazing at it!. The open-plan living area was also wonderfully spacious and made it easy to prepare the few main meals we ate there! The place was clean and light and all the bedrooms were of an equally good size -sometimes a problem when sharing if there is a master suite. The village and beach were easily accessible and it was one of the best beaches we have been to. We hope to return one day!
Fantastic relaxing time with perfect views
By Sonia214 on 20-Nov-2012
Was pleased with the Villa, very high standard rooms and views to die for.
Beautiful swimming pool, very relaxing and peaceful. Very spacious and comfortable house, after several years of visiting Corfu this was by far the best Villa we had stayed in.
Location perfect , as you can easily walk down to resort . Although we had a car
which was included ,so we could explore the wonderful Island.
Will book again.
