The apartment also boasts a large private roof terrace with comfortable sun loungers and reclining chairs,perfect for relaxing ,soaking up the sun and enjoying views of surrounding countryside. Here you can relax and enjoy the excellent views of the surrounding countryside. The apartment is fully air conditioned, has electronic shutters and guests have the use of free Wi-Fi.
The apartment is managed by a local Portuguese management team who speak excellent English. They are always on hand to give advice and to ensure your holiday runs smoothly. We provide a meet and greet service when our manager will show you around the apartment and answer any questions you might have. We also provide a small welcome pack of essential items. You will have exclusive use of the swimming pool complex which is accessed through an electronic gate. There is secure underground car parking to keep your car cool in the summer months. We provide a maid service. Holidays of over 9 nights will have a mid- stay clean and towel and linen change.
A 10 minute stroll from the apartment through pretty cobbled streets lined with white washed houses leads to the clean sandy blue flag beach which is ideal for young children. The apartment is also ideally situated for exploring the 150 km of unspoilt coastline with its impressive choice of beaches in the National Park. The south facing beaches are more sheltered and ideal for younger families whilst the western beaches (approximately 20 mins drive) are more rugged and exposed and extremely popular with surfers.Spectacular coastal walks towards Luz/Lagos to the east and Salema to the west can be enjoyed from the apartment
Burgau itself has an excellent choice of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes .Burgau beach bar is very popular. Here you can enjoy your meal or cocktails whilst watching the sunset! Most of the restaurants serve typical Portuguese dishes and locally caught fish will be found on the menu. Children are always welcome. For those wishing to eat in we recommend buying fresh fish from the fish van which stops at the cross roads in the mornings or alternatively visit the lively fish market in Lagos. A real treat on the BBQ! For everyday items there are 2 small supermarkets in the village and fresh bread can be brought or ordered from the bakery. There is an excellent independent wine shop. The small tourist office in Burgau is ideal for booking trips to local attractions and they will arrange for a coach to pick you up.
Burgau is 2 km from the larger resort of Praia da Luz and 10 minute drive from Lagos, a very attractive busy historic town and marina. Here you will find a wide selection of shops, restaurants, music bars, and a choice of larger supermarkets. Boat trips to the grottos and dolphin watching trips (thoroughly recommended) are available from the marina as are deep sea fishing trips. The apartment is also within easy travelling distance of Sagres ('the end of the world' and famous for its sunsets), the Roman spa town of Monchique, the surrounding Monchique mountains and Silves famous for its well preserved castle.
There is a reliable taxi firm in the village and a regular bus service to Luz and Lagos from the village so it is possible to spend a holiday in Burgau without a car but if you wish to explore the many beautiful beaches then a car is definitely recommended. The apartment is approximately 1 hour drive from Faro airport (mostly motorway) and approximately 3 hour drive from Lisbon airport.
