Nerola cottage is a special place. It is a detached stone cottage for two people set in stunning countryside with spectacular sea views and sunsets (guests tell us the photos don't do it justice). At 350m above sea level you instantly have a sense of being on top of the world in this little piece of paradise looking down towards Agropoli and across to the Amalfi Coast. At night all the lights mark the coastline around Paestum, the bay of Salerno and directly across to Amalfi town and Positano. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the many surrounding villages giving you a sense of a time gone by. There are archaelogical sites, national heritage sites, areas of outstanding natural beauty, hills to climb, mountainous regions to explore, clear waters to swim ....... or just relax at the cottage enjoying the peace, watching the view change before your eyes and the wildlife around you. The cottage and our farmhouse are set in 5 acres of land and countryside bordering the Cilento National Park. It makes a perfect place to relax and enjoy the calm and tranquility that is so hard to find these days. It's great for nature lovers and those who have a sense of adventure. 10% discounts on all prices if booked before 14th February 2020. Being a holistic therapist for 25 years I offer our guests Aromatherapy massage treatments and Reiki healing in a quiet treatment room in our house. Please enquire for further details about 'relax and replenish breaks' from January to June which can be adapted to your needs. The cottage has a galleried bedroom overlooking the sitting room, spacious open plan living and all you will need for a self catering holiday (including sunhats). It has a private patio to the front and private lawned garden to the side surrounded by shrubs and plants. On the lower terrace there is a private plunge pool from the end of May to September. In the spring and autumn this area provides another space to eat al fresco and admire the seaview. All the areas to the front and side of the cottage have a sea view. It isn't overlooked by any neighbours. We respect our guest's privacy at all times. There is a very good free wifi connection. The cottage is in a rural location although only 2.5km to the closest villages of San Martino and Laureana Cilento where there are 2 cafes, grocery shop and restaurant which is open from May to October. The small town of Torchiara is 6km with it's historic centre and offers cafes, shops, bank. Agropoli town, marina and old town perched on the hill is 10km with plenty of restaurants, shops, cafes, walks, busy piazza. It is only a 15 minute drive to the sandy beach at Baia di Trentova just outside Agropoli and there are plenty of other beaches in pretty coastal villages to choose from within a 20 minute+ drive such as Santa Maria di Castellabate, San Marco di Castellabate, Ogliastro Marina, Acciaroli .......... to name but a few. Naples airport is 120km offering a direct and cheap railway connection from Naples Central station to Agropoli-Castellabate which takes 1 hour 10 mins on the fast train. There is a car hire office opposite the railway station. Rome airport is 320km and there is a direct train from Rome Termini to Agropoli which takes 3 hours 30 mins. It is a great location from which to explore the many medieval hilltop villages, a choice of sandy beaches and pretty coastal towns. The Greek temples at Paestum are only 25 mins away. The Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius are only 90 mins away. The grotto at Castelcivitella is 1hr drive. Buffalo farms to try out the creamy mozzarella and other produce are 20 mins drive with the only organic farm in southern Italy located near Paestum called Vannulo. Boat trips. The best icecream you will ever taste. Plenty of local countryside/sea walks, endless wildlife, peace, tranquillity, views that change during the day and immersed in nature. There is plenty to do in the area with festivals throughout the year, particularly in the summer months. We provide books, cds and dvds for lazy days together with maps and local information for venturing out. We are located just off a quiet lane driving through olive groves. Our private track of 350m is steep and winding so it is necessary to hire a small car which I will provide more information about. You can park directly outside the cottage. The Thalasso Spa at San Marco di Castellabate is only 25 mins drive. Ferries run from Salerno port to Capri and the Amalfi coast from April to October. In July and August the smaller ferries from Agropoli port to Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Palinuro. Small motorboats can be hired from Agropoli port. There is a car hire office opposite the railway station at Agropoli who offer good rates to our guests. I can advise on travel details and places to stay in Naples if required. We also rent out a 2 bedroom cottage in the village which is a few minutes drive or a 15 minute walk if there are more than 2 of you.
We enjoyed every second!
By Sarah And Joe Hanney on 13-Aug-2019
We stayed for two weeks at the lovely Villa Nerola and enjoyed every second of the stunning views, plunge pool, walks in the countryside and visits to neighbouring villages. The villa itself is very special with panoramic views over the Bay of Salerno - the sunsets over Capri are spectacular. We relaxed under the pergola every evening to watch the lights come on in Agropoli with excellent wine sourced by Vanessa. As hosts, Vanessa and Richard get it just right: attentive and helpful (thank you for directions, welcome hamper, shopping, car hire and helpful hints on places to visit) when needed but gave us complete privacy and the terrace feels totally isolated. For a couple, this is the perfect getaway, we came back rested and rejuvenated with a taste of authentic southern Italy.

Well what can I say? This is a dream place to stay. I won't talk about the area...you can see how fantastic that is on Google.
But this is THE place for two people to have an amazing relaxing holiday.
The cottage is stunning and Vanessa and Richard have thought of everything. It has all you need on a practical basis but all that set against the best views of the sea and countryside.
We have stayed at many places over many years and all I can say is I am still sad to have had to have left!
You will be welcomed by a lovely couple but equally never bothered if you want your privacy. The perfect balance to us.
In the age of huge rental companies, this is a place that just feels as if you are staying close to two mates...but mates who don't bother you!
I have no hesitation in recommending this place as the best place for a couple with a sense of adventure...or just those seeking so peace
Wow Wow Wow

WOW, WOW, WOW... what else can I say? Words alone cannot do justice to this cottage!
Our first visit, 9 nights, to this region and we could not have found a more idyllic spot in which to relax, breathe the air and totally unwind.
Vanessa and Richard are, without dispute, the most fantastic hosts, discreet, but on hand for even the simplest of issues. Vanessa met us at a nearby landmark, gave us handy recommendations for shops, food etc and had provided us with a very welcome, welcome pack.
Simply stunning retreat, a must if you are visiting this area. 11 out of 10!
Favourite holiday cottage in the world!
By Marcus Darwell on 12-Nov-2018
This is our favourite holiday cottage in the world. The view over the bay is unparalleled and the setting is magic. Richard and Vanessa make sure everything is perfect. See you in March 2018!
The photos don't do the villa justice!
By Alana Crawley on 12-Nov-2018
The description and photographs do not do the villa justice and it is only with your own eyes you will truly appreciate what a beautiful place this is. We arrived for 7 nights in August to spend my 30th birthday in peace and quiet. By the 3rd night we knew we had not booked a long enough stay. By the 6th night we knew we would be back.....
A perfect cottage!
By Annie Henderson on 12-Nov-2018
If you want a perfect cottage for 2 in a beautiful quiet and peaceful position, with excellent hosts, this is the place for you. The cottage is extremely well equipped with the most amazing views across The Bay of Salerno. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Vanessa and Richard who completely respected our privacy. We cannot recommend this property highly enough
A peaceful oasis
By Sarah Shatwell on 12-Nov-2018
We had an entirely wonderful 9 days stay in this beautiful little cottage, everything was there that we needed including a food hamper on an arrival which was so thoughtful. Our hosts Vanessa and Richard were helpful and kind and gave us great tips about where to eat and what to do.
The lost paradise
By Markus Fux on 12-Nov-2018
The lost paradise ......... we have found it again here at Villa Nerola!
It is such a peaceful place to be, looking at butterflies and bees dancing around the trees and shrubs in the garden.
Villa Nerola really is the most beautiful and relaxing place we´ve ever been to on our holidays.
Thank you so much Vanessa and Richard for your kind hospitality and to be able to enjoy the paradise you have created. We will miss it very much..... so why not come again soon!
Beautiful location and stunning views
By Jason And Heather on 12-Nov-2018
This cottage is a home away from home. It's fabulous! Beautiful location with stunning views. It's ideal for couples who seek some much needed peace and quiet. Richard and Vanessa are the perfect hosts who really do make your stay a very welcome one. The welcome hamper was absolutely perfect and the information packs within the cottage (along with the maps) really make it easy for you to get about and decide where to go. They really have thought of everything to make your stay very pleasant. We've come home feeling relaxed after having enjoyed a lovely week here and a view to definitely returning!
Stylish, rustic and charming
By Stephen Gates on 28-Jul-2018
This was our second visit to this amazing location. It's a stylish, rustic, charming little place and it's a gateway to some lovely beaches and quaint hillside villages. We arrived super stressed from our hectic life in central London and left super chilled. Enough said. Oh, one criticism: the owners Richard and Vanessa strive so hard to provide their guests with ultimate privacy, that you hardly ever see them. This is a shame because they are really lovely people. We'll be paying a third visit.
