A beautiful newly and very carefully restored barn, set in the heart of the Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany, 1 hr 15 minutes north of Lucca.
This detached villa with private pool has been lovingly refurbished by the owner using traditional materials, and warm tuscan colours to give a rustic, but very homely feel to the property.
The 'barn' has beamed ceilings and traditional style flooring throughout and is furnished with a pleasing mix of the modern and antique. The ceilings are high, giving a good sense of light and space, and the views from the house are beautiful......
As well as the open plan well equipped kitchen, diner, living area, there are 4 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms, one of which is ensuite, and one of which boasts a bath tub.
The ground floor bedroom and en-suite can be accessed from double doors and is wheelchair friendly, with large doors through to wheelchair friendly bathroom. There are no steps on the path leading down to the pool...
Outside there is a covered pergola, gardens with apple trees and private infinity style pool of 10M x 5M.
This is a perfect place to relax, and enjoy a real feeling of yesteryear, whilst surrounded by modern comforts.
A little about location:
Poggio is a small mountain village situated approximately 50 mins North Of Lucca, and 8km from the local market town of Castelnuovo, with its various bars & restaurants, and well-known Thursday morning market. Poggio itself has a bar/grocer shop and a train station perfect for exploring those larger towns in air conditioned comfort. The property is situated in its own extensive grounds/orchards, guaranteeing total privacy. The views from the house are absolutely beautiful, with the garden enjoying uninterrupted views over the Serchio Valley, which itself is nestled between the Apennine, and Apuane mountain ranges. A perfect place for walking, fishing or just enjoying the countryside. Lucca is 50 mins away; Barga 40 mins; Pisa 1 hr 20 mins, Florence circa 2 hrs. This is an extremely popular property.

We had a fantastic stay in La Vinca for 14 days. We were 2 families med children (age 4, 7, 8 and 11), and we really enjoyed the house and pool. The pool has a deept of 1,40 all over. The friendly owner Ilario welcomed us at the house, when we arrived. And after a few days he came with a basket of fresh vegetables, very nice :-)
Right next to this house, the owner has another house, where 2 other families stayed (friends of us).
Successful resting in La Vinca

Very nice and comfortable house – great and clean pool – the manager looks after the guests and their needs constantly.
Very good Pizza in Careggine easy to find because this is a very small but interesting mountain village

Ilario, the owner of La Vinca was so kind to us throughout our stay. He brought us a huge tray of fresh vegetables from his garden and even offered to drop us at the station when we didn't have a car. He was incredibly friendly and warm when he welcomed us to the property but then left us to enjoy our time secluded and completely in private, which was fantastic. The house is very spacious and had everything we needed - all to a high standard. The pool, garden and amazing view were everything we were hoping for. I would recommend staying at La Vinca to friends and family for sure.
Thanks to Ilario and to the helpful people who handled our online booking. Beautiful location and house, generous people

A fabulous holiday - La Vinca is a lovely property. Well maintained, super clean, well equipped with a great pool. Ilario was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Highlights of the holiday - cycling in Lucca, swimming in the river, classic car driving - aswell as the bigger sights such as Pisa and Florence
“A dream come true!”

We were a group of 8 family members and we all amazed with how beautiful & peaceful La Vinca is. We saw the photos online but experiencing it in person was just amazing.
The house is beautifully maintained and is equipped with everything you need. The property; surrounding fruit trees, gardens and pool are also well maintained and manicured. It's always been a dream to stay in a Tuscan farm house and be immersed in the beauty of it all, and La Vinca did not disappoint - in fact it exceeded our expectations. It is exactly out of a story book or film.
The owner, Ilario, is very friendly and came round on our first day to introduce himself. He came round a few days later to see if everything was still ok but otherwise we had the privacy to enjoy his property without interruption.
We have family who live in Lucca who came to visit us for the day during our stay at La Vinca, and they were absolutely amazed with this property. Ilario and his wife have done a stellar job!
If you love dogs, there are 2 very friendly dogs that come to visit every evening from one of the surrounding farms. They love playing catch :)
Some of our most memorable experiences from our trip to Tuscany were spent drinking our morning coffee on the patio at La Vinca over looking the valley, and enjoying delicious Italian wines and foods in the evening in the same spot. It truly was a dream come true and highly recommend this property.
There are also beautiful towns within driving distance; the Saturday market in Barga is a must for fresh local foods. And Castelnuovo is a great little town to explore, eat, drink wine & do a spot of shopping.
Tip: make sure to stop at one of the bigger grocery stores on your way to La Vinca to stock up on food, tea, coffee, laundry detergent, wine, prosecco etc. because once you get to La Vinca you won't want to leave! :)

The villa is in a secluded spot, with great views over a valley. The house was spotless, well-equipped, and very cozy. The owner welcomed us and was very helpful throughout our stay -- without being intrusive. We also appreciated the carefully prepared information about local shops, restaurants, etc. Overall, a great experience.
Stunning views in Garfagnana

Vinca is probably the most beautiful and well appointed vacation property we have rented so far. The pictures on the website dont give any justice to the real beauty of the setting.
The house has beautifull and well manicured gardens ,infinity pool and the views are simply spectacular. Swimming with the views of the Garfagnana valley is what enchanted us the most. The property is very clean and well outfitted with everything you might need and exceeds expectations. For anybody that loves cooking, this house comes with a very well equipped kitchen. Spacious house, tastefully decorated, beautiful covered outdoor patio, built-in stone barbeque, beautifull garden, infinity pool, stunning views are among the feautures we liked the most about this house.
The property is ideally located in the Gardagnana region for day trips to Lucca by train for example or to the coast line in Massa Marittima. Also well located to shorter visits to local winery, (few km away) castles , and marble quarry (15 km away) which we highly reccomend.
Our host, Ilario, is genuinily kind and available for whatever you might need and the best reference for any piece information you might have on the area. The basket of organic vegetables he offered us, freshly picked from his garden was a true deligt.
We defenetly reccomend this vacation rental and wish to be able to visit again.
A Beautiful Property

Lovely spacious bedrooms rooms, nicely decorated and furnished throughout. the rooms looked and felt clean. A good selection of glasses and crockery to suit all wining and dining occasions.
The pool is stunning and not too deep, kept really clean at all times. would like to have a few more sun loungers especially as there were 8 of us.
the garden is kept immaculate and the grounds are well maintained with plenty of space.
We thought that Poggio would have more facilities, ie bakery, small grocery shop and a few restaurants but this was not the case, however you don't have to travel too far ( Camporgiano) to find all of these.
Ilario and Maria were always on hand if any problems. they were both friendly and helpful and looked after us well. thank you.
"Best ever place and vacation!"

The property and location was far more better than described and seen from pictures. We were very satisfied with owner support. I certainly recommend La Vinca to my friends and come back soon!

We had a nice welcome from Ilario and had a delightful stay at La Vinca. We decided to stay away from the tourist sites and to explore the hidden treasures of the mountains and surrounding historic villages instead. My favourite was San Pellegrino in Alpe with its quaint shops and unmissable view from the cross. Also Castiglione with its mediaeval cobbled streets and Orecchiella Park are well worth a visit. Wine and food lovely, local people friendly. Would love to return.

The kids especially enjoyed the pool and delicious BBQs. Great base for exploring too. We had a fabulous adventure at both Parco Buffardello and Parco Levigliese - not to be missed if you have kids. Enjoyed Friday Pizza night a Mulin del Rancone which has a play park for the kids. Great day out in Lucca, train to Pisa - late home but worth the effort. Amazing scenery, super holiday!

Our 2nd visit here, the setting is beautiful to match the weather and a great time was had by all. The marble mine near Arni was spectacular and Isola Santa with its lake was a lovely place to stop on the way back. Train from Poggio to Lucca was fun, the river was great for exploring, the Fortress at Verrucole is excellent - really well done and great value, only 15 mins drive.

We had a wonderful time at La Vinca. Perfect villa, pool and BBQ and of course the views! Had great days out - Lucca is a must and riding the bikes around the walls was the best way to see its charm. Lunch in the Ampiteatro was lovely too. The boys had an exciting and challenging day at Parco Avventura Buffardello (12 & 14 yrs) but suitable for younger people too. Travelled to Florence by train from Lucca. Very reasonably priced €14 return. Pleasant trip. The villa was perfect for our extended family and Ilario was always helpful and kind.
Best villa we have stayed in so far.

Beautiful garden, view, pool and river walk. A blissful holiday. Lawns covered in hundreds of fireflies at night....utter magic. A wonderful holiday in a great part of Italy!

Well, back home now after a truly wonderful time in Italy and I just wanted to thank you again for all the help you, your husband and Benito gave me sorting out the blood test whilst we were staying at Vinca.
I do appreciate that it must have intruded on your holiday and feel very bad about that but I hope you both had a good time despite being hassled by me.
We all loved Vinca but had very fond memories of Caprifoglio too so would find it hard to choose which one if we are ever able to return. Ilario and Maria were so kind and helpful and it was a delight to meet them again. I think I managed to convey to Maria how grateful I was but fear my appalling attempts at an Italian translation in a card I gave her must have left her totally confused!
Back to reality now but already thinking about next years holiday

Our family of 6 had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at this beautiful house. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The house is comfortable, clean and the facilities are excellent. The local town is only a few km's away and has lovely streets and shops to explore. We did day trips to Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Cinque Terre easily from this area. We would come back and stay again.
