A little about the location:
The farmhouse is situated above the village of Poggio in the Garfagnana valley circa one hour north of Lucca. Surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and a fruit orchard, you can enjoy the marvellous view of the unspoilt Garfagnana valley and the surrounding green mountains. There is a vegetarian restaurant less than a 5 minute walk away. (You need to book as they will shop specifically for you!) The local villages of Poggio and Camorgiano are 2km and 4km respectively from the property, the latter of which has a couple of restaurants and bars, an inhabited castle, supermarket, and small Monday morning market. Both villages have train stations for easy exploring. Castelnuovo, the local market town is around a 10/15 minute drive away, and the mediaeval town of Barga is a circa 30 minute drive. Take a trip to Pisa in 90 mins and Florence in under 2 hours... The real beauty of the area though is its proximity to two important Protected National Parks, the surrounding mountains and the hundreds of hill top villages where it seems that time has stood still.
NB - there is another house on site belonging to owners father but it is only used very rarely as somewhere to store items needed for the land .The Villa, gardens and pool are for the exclusive use of guests and there is privacy.

We had a wonderful family stay at villa Franco. The house and pool was marvelous. Hearing the animals in the valley at night and the fireflies is a memory for life. Small villages (and roads) Franco was a very friendly and helpful host. We can truly recommend this house
"Nice place to discover Tuscany"

We stayed two weeks at Villa Franco and there is everything to pass a pleasant stay: - Great view - Insulation relaxing - Beautiful pool with light steamed deep, reassuring for children - Situation ideal for visiting Tuscany around Especially, the Villa Franco would not be the same without Franco, his owner's extremely nice and helpful: we did discover places that only a native and passionate about this country could know. We'll definitely be back because there are still many things to see in this beautiful region

Villa Franco is a magical place . My friends and I spent a week in this beautiful home nestled among vineyards and fields of barley . The rooms were so fresh despite the searing heat and Franco is an extraordinary host , always available for any request . I recommend everyone to spend a holiday in this enchanting place .

Just spent a lovely week in Villa Franco with my husband and two teenage children, relaxing by the large pool and enjoying the sensational views of the mountains and the Serchio valley below. The villa itself was very comfortable and is well equipped. The villa is also a good base for exploring the surrounding area - we particularly enjoyed a day trip to Barga.
The manager was also very helpful and on hand if required - not that there were any problems!

We absolutely loved Villa Franco! It was the perfect size for our group of 6 moms and 11 children. The villa was wonderful! We loved the stone walls and beamed ceilings. The rooms were nicely furnished yet rustic. The kids loved the pool and we loved being able to walk into town to the little grocery store for fresh produce or even a cappucino in the morning. The views were beautiful with the surrounding vineyards and mountains. It was great to sit out on the patio for meals overlooking the pool. We also enjoyed the nearby towns of Barga and Castelnuovo. They had wonderful markets! We also took the train to Lucca which was a little frustrating because the trains were not very punctual, but it saved us from having to drive the windy roads. We also drove to the Cinque Terre which was about a 2- 2 1/2 hour drive. It was so worth it even if we had to drive the mountaineous, windy roads! I would highly recommend this place for a large group. We would love to go back!
