Perfect Location

By Simon Morris on 10-Aug-2019

The house couldn't be better located for a stay in Cascais. In the heart of the old town the restaurants, beaches and trains station are all a stroll away.. The house itself is a gem with 3 good sized bedrooms. The bathrooms and kitchen are well kitted out with modern fittings and the secluded courtyard is perfect for alfresco dining. The house and location were great for our family with 3 teenagers, able to mix up the beaches with bars and restaurant scene of Cascais all with Lisbon a short train ride away. David was really helpful both before and during our stay, sorting out transfers and recommending restaurants. We look forward to coming back with either our family or with friends.

We have just returned from our seventh stay here. It is perfectly located being a short walk to the beach, restaurants and a lovely park which is ideal for children. The house is comfortable and very well equipped. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. David the owner will organise your transport to and from the airport and welcome you on arrival. Fully recommended.

What more could we ask for - Perfect

We are just back from 9 days in Cascais and I stayed at this lovely 3 bedroom house in the old part of Cascais. This trip could not have gone any better, the house was perfect, it was clean and had everything we needed, it felt closer than 100 meters to the beach and the center of Cascais however was still very quiet at night. The owners of the property could not have been more helpful, from arranging our transfers to giving us weather updates in the days leading up to our trip, they made everything easy. The only reason that I would not highly recommend this property is because it may not be available next year when I look to go back. Thanks David and Teresa for everything.

Great Location

By Gary Grant on 20-Mar-2019

The house is very conveniently situated in the old town of Cascais so location couldn’t be better as everything is within walking distance. David (the host) lives close by so he’s mine of information on the best restaurants in the area/the market etc and best of all there is a tiny little shop about 5m away that sells almost everything and also makes wonderful coffee

Excellent Location in Cascais Village.

By Ray 'sunshine´ on 20-Oct-2018

Property is right in middle of Old Cascais near the waterfront and cultural precinct with it's own outdoor patio. David the owner was on hand to meet us and explain everything and the local restaurants. With Pedro's cafe close by and easy walks to train and bus station our weeks stay was perfect.

Excellent Location and Good Value

By Raymond Rypma on 05-Oct-2018

David Sutcliffe the owner met us on arrival and was always available to help. House well equipped. Great to have courtyard out front and Pedro's 20 meters away for coffee and snacks. But if David wants to maintain rating should have warned us beforehand that the building next door was being renovated. Also as weather very hot during our week stay should have ensured better fans were installed as well as cotton sheets (not synthetic). It's a competative market and small things count.
My Response

Thank you Ray for your Review. Concerning your comments: - the sheets, my wife has confirmed they are all cotton - we have more fans, if required do ask. Also these are not fixed fans and can be moved around the house as required - the works next door, we have no control over them, you were unfortunate if there was a lot of banging etc. Also most guest are usually out of the house enjoying Cascais during a normal working day. It was unfortunate that the week you were here was so hot and therefore assume you wanted to rest in the afternoons. If of interest this September here was the hottest ever recorded since records began over 100 years ago!

Best Location in Cascais!

By Nicole Lander on 01-Sep-2018

My family and I stayed in David's home for 6 nights and it was an absolute dream! First off, it's in the BEST location! The home is nestled on a quaint and quiet street but it is just steps from the beach and shops! David was the most incredible host. On the first day, he took us on a tour of Cascais and pointed out the best places to eat! He also arranged for a car service to take us to and from the airport at a fabulous price. We cannot wait to return to David's beautiful home!

Lovely Town House

By Matt Swanton on 14-Aug-2018

The house is situated in the historic part of the town, which is close to the bars and restaurants but also surprisingly quiet. It was an excellent property to retreat to after spending the day visiting the sights or relaxing on the beach. The property had all the facilities we needed for self-catering. It was clean and exactly as described in the details. David was helpful and responded to all the questions I had in the lead up to our holiday. He was also very kind in offering to collect us by car from the train station on our arrival as it was a particularly hot day. He also arranged our transfer to the airport. I would recommend this property to anyone who plans to stay in Cascais.

I've lost track of how many times my elderly mother and I have stayed here! This lovely house is clean and comfortable, equipped with everything you could need (for a long-term stay, not just a week), and we highly recommend it. Being an insomniac, I particularly appreciated the shutters and black-out blinds for total darkness. The house is central, yet quiet at night. We were able to walk to everything, from small shops to the Jumbo supermarket, lovely beaches, parks, the marina, market and a host of lovely places to eat and drink. The owner, David, couldn't be more friendly and helpful so just ask and he will guide you on the best places to go and how to get there.

Rua da Vitoria - Historic Center, Cascais

By Bettina Hassel on 15-Apr-2018

Lovely house in a lovely corner

We spent one week in Cascais at David´s home. It is located in the old part of the town and just some minutes to the beach and even less to restaurants and small supermarkets. During our stay we went twice to Lissabon (it takes 45 minutes by train and it´s a nice travel along the coast). Lissabon is really worth it! We also went to Sintra (one our by bus from Cascais) but there are thousands of tourists there. If you want to enter the National Park you should book your entrance tickes in advance in order to avoid long waiting times there. David picked us up at a big hotel in the center of Cascais and showed us around. His home is just 10 min. walk from the station in Cascais in you really do not need a car there. you can get bicycles everywhere and you have good transportation, too. Furthermore, there is no parking space close to Davids house. The old part of the town is really romantic and the Portuguese people are very friendly an honest!!!! There is fresh fish at low cost everywhere, but of cours you can prepare meals in the kitchen of the house. It´s fully equiped. A very nice place which we can recommand for 100%

“Centre Of Cascais -Town House In The Historic Centre of the Old Town”

By Anna-Maria Via Marti on 17-Feb-2018

The house was very clean and fully equipped. Situated in the middle of a picturesque town that has 'everything'. Plenty of restaurants and different kind of shops everywhere. It takes some minutes walk to get the train, bus and taxi station. The beautiful Cascais is also a perfect place for artist and people who love culture. Very close to the house you can find the cultural house of the town. The fort of the town, inside of it, you can find some art galleries, a 'Pousada' and restaurant, a second hand bookshop with books in different languages, etc. Outside the fort you can find a huge and robust statue in brons of a man wearing a navy uniform: It represents D. Carlos I King of Portugal (1863-1908). The government placed it there in 2008 in order to celebrate the centenary of his dead. You can find his portrait In the hall of the town museum: a blond-red hair king with big blue eyes. And now, after ten years, these eyes are looking at the horizon. But where? At Monte Storil, Storil, São Jõao ... ? Who knows.. Meanwhile, some people are taking a walk around him, some of them looking fascinated at him, others taking pictures of him. Everyone seems to enjoy life. On the beach some people are playing with a ball barefooted on the sand in the middle of February. I recommend this property and this town to everyone who wants to experience a Magic holiday!

Cascais Town House - Historical Centre

By Ana-Maria Via Marti on 11-Feb-2018

It is a privileged house located close to 'everything'. Very close to the beach, to all kind of shops and restaurants, to the fort of the town and cultural centers. You can find the taxi, buss stop and the railway station in about ten minutes walk. I was impressed looking at some magnificent houses standing proud year after year on the cliff surrounding the beach. I really enjoyed the huge and beautiful park, very close to the house. Smiling when I saw some cocks and hens running because some small children tried to hunt them! I really recommend this house to everyone!

Traditional neat and tidy town house in perfect location for Cascais. Close to everything (2 min walking) but quiet area with amazing restaurants on the doorstep. Great local community and felt very safe House has everything you need for a self catered holiday but great restaurants on your doorstep so you don’t have to stretch beyond breakfast on the patio if you don’t want to. Two bathrooms and utility area perfect for getting ready to go out or coming off the beach and getting stuff sorted for the next day. David the owner is a wealth of local knowledge and very welcoming and friendly.

This is our 3rd visit to this holiday house, and hopefully there will be many more! The location in the picturesque old town can't be bettered - 2 minutes walk to the beach, shops, restaurants and cafes on your doorstep, 5 minutes walk to the botanic garden and museum quarter. It's a quick walk to the train station too for day trips into Lisbon. The house is lovely - 3 very comfortable bedrooms, modern kitchen and bathrooms, excellent living / dining room and outdoor courtyard for eating outside. David is a great host, arranging our taxi transfers to and from the airport and providing everything we needed. Like I said we hope to return!

We can't fault this property or it's helpful, considerate owners which is why my mother and I return every year! Everything you need is within walking distance - the beaches, market, Marina, shops and so many great places to eat or enjoy a drink. The house, especially the kitchen, is superbly equipped and the cafe/mini-market almost next door is so convenient for basic supplies and lovely fresh bread rolls. We loved sitting out in the secluded patio area and what's great is that, despite being so central, the house is lovely and quiet at night.

What a great place to stay. The property is located in the old part of town amongst many narrow cobbled streets and gives a real sense of history. It's also perfect for a beach holiday and getting to the centre of Cascais in no time at all. We stayed as a family group of five, and had a great stay. The location is fantastic, very close to the marina, sea front and old town, with a lovely little cafe just metres away. The house had everything you might need and the private courtyard was a great place to spend an evening (the sun had passed over by about 4pm, so it was nice and cool). Although the house didn't have air conditioning, we closed the exterior window blinds each day, so the house didn't warm up too much. I would definitely recommend.

We loved our holiday in Cascais and the house was a great place to stay. It’s right in the old part of town, very quiet and traditional, but only a couple of minutes’ walk down to the town beach and the shops and restaurants. There’s also a great local café / minimarket just 20 metres away, which made it all very convenient. The house is old fashioned, but very clean and everything worked – the wifi was a real help. We didn’t have a car, but you probably don’t need one for this town. David was a very reliable and helpful owner, who showed us round, and was available locally for information, and arranging airport transfers etc. We would certainly stay here again.

David is a sincere, attentive host. The photos are accurate; the house was very comfortable for the 3 of us, but would have easily slept 5 among the 3 bedrooms upstairs. There are many, many local restaurants with great food. We enjoyed trips into Lisbon (easy access with the train, with one leaving every 20 minutes), but especially enjoyed walking around Cabo da Roca and seeing the historic sites in Sintra, which are easily accessed via the SCOTTURB buses. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this property.

Walk to the market, the train, the beach, dinner, drinks....The park is across the way and the beach around the corner. The best sushi in the area (and possibly the region) is 50 meters away. There is a cafe with outdoor seating, a barbershop, a little store. We were there a month with our three children. We had lots of space, I cooked up a storm with everything I need (except a blender). Fully furnished with all you could really need. Could not have had a better place.

We stayed a month. There were 5 of us, my husband and I and our 3 children. It was amply outfitted with all I needed to prepare food for our family when we were not eating out. We walked to the Cascais Market our very first morning for fresh food. We walked to the big super store for supplies. We walked to the mall for a movie. We walked to the train to go up to Lisbon. We had very friendly neighbors with Pedro just half a block away with his coffee shop, restaurant with outdoor tables, and small shop and the friendly barbershop right next door. I dropped the copies of our passports and they were picked up by one person and passed along to another to get back to us. The water is a 5 minute walk as is the park. There are city bikes just around the corner. I really could not have gotten a better location. We had plenty of room. It has a little outdoor courtyard, as well. It was very cold but that really was due to the January arrival, a cold front, and us arriving from Central America and not being prepared. There were plenty of blankets and space heaters. David is charming and helpful and kind.

We have just returned from our second visit to this property, and guess what, we are so happy with this house that we have already booked again for 2017! This house is perfect for our small group of friends and would be idyllic for a family group. Well laid out and comfortable furnishings inside and a cosy courtyard outside, shaded by a wonderful large parasol over the modern outdoor table and chairs. This courtyard is an enviable place to relax after a hard session on the nearby beach, an informative museum visit or a general browse through the near at hand shops!! One of our favourite places is the open air café at the “Jardim Visconde da Luz” which is an easy stroll from this accommodation. Sipping on a coffee or freshly made orange juice watching the world pass by is truly calming and at times most entertaining. This spot is about halfway on the walk to the twice weekly market, which even for a non-shopper like myself, I would whole heartedly recommend. Obviously tourists are present, but the market is aimed at the locals with a fantastic fruit and vegetable market, one of the best fish markets I have ever seen, and a general market around the sides. Be like native Portuguese and buy your fresh food here and you will be more than happy with the quality and price. Although we didn’t use the provided barbeque, the market would be a great place to stock up. I could wax lyrical about both the property and the location, but suffice to say that I totally recommend this place for a good holiday/vacation.
