Stunning property with absolutely amazing views.

By Sian P on 02-Aug-2018

The villa exceeded our expectations. The views from the balcony were stunning both day and night- one of our teens favourite night time activities was to lay in the pool stargazing!

The surrounding area has some beautiful villages to visit.

Will absolutely be returning to see the views with snow on the mountain tops!!

We loved our holiday at villa Rhea. A lovely stone villa in beautiful countryside. The view had it all with great views of mountains, woods and the sea. The swimming pool was great for relaxing days and the villa is every bit as good as appears in the pictures. There are lots of nice restaurants within a few minutes drive. There are several lovely beaches a short drive away and a beautiful cove with crystal clear waters.

We never go back to the same place twice but will certainly be back to villa Rhea.

Thanks to Peter & Linda for being great hosts.

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Villa Rhea... beautifully designed villa, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and in a wonderfully peaceful location with views to die for - we absolutely made the right choice to stay here and can’t recommend this place enough. With temperatures rising to 30+ some days, the good sized infinity pool was a perfect place to cool off in and do some more ‘view staring’ too! Peter and Linda are great hosts: helpful, friendly and there if you need them - but otherwise non-obtrusive. You will definitely need a car here unless you are very keen walkers, but there’s so much to see and do in the surrounding areas, we think you’d want one anyway if you like getting out and about! Thank you for a superb week at your amazing villa... we will be back!

First Class

By Carl C on 30-Aug-2017

We have rented many villas in various countries over the years & Villa Rhea is second to none. The quality of the house, fixtures & fittings, together with equipment is first class. Its location is idyllic, providing peace, privacy & stunning views over mountains, olive groves & coastline.

Don't let the rough, unmade track leading to the villa put you off. Our little Peugeot 208 coped admirably.

Peter & Linda could not have been more welcoming & helpful. Even the local shop keeper said to us that we had chosen the best villa & owners in the area!

Local villages, tavernas & beaches were a delight. Our preferred beach was at Kamina. A day's outing to Chania is a must. We also took a day's bus & boat trip to Balos & Gramvousa, which added to the variety of a great holiday.

This villa & its owners come with our unreserved recommendation.

perfect villa for a relaxed family holiday

By Rachel C on 21-Aug-2017

We were thrilled with Villa Rhea and it had the perfect ingredients for our family holiday...

The villa itself was beautifully built, very spacious both inside and out and well furnished with great attention to detail (plus aircon in the bedrooms which was a bonus in August). The views were just to die for - overlooking the valley with the mountains beyond, and the bay. We really enjoyed dinner on the terrace watching the sunset over the bay.

The pool was a good size (always hard to tell from photo's) ... just about big enough for a proper swim and plenty big enough for family pool games. It was very clean and not over chlorinated, with that stunning view.

The location was good - it's close to Almyreda which is a small family resort with a nice beach and lots of good restaurants. We really enjoyed visiting it late afternoons most days. The villa was walking distance to the nearest village which had shops and restaurants but you would really need a car to stay at the villa. There's lots to do nearby, particularly Chania which is about 45 minutes drive away.

Peter and Linda were great hosts - really friendly and helpful but not at all obtrusive. We were sorry to leave!

Villa Rhea July 2016

By Sarah L on 13-Aug-2016

This has to be one of the best Villas we've ever stayed in. Attention to detail in the structure of the building and to the smallest detail is perfect.

The pool and the views are a perfect way to start and finish your day and in fact welcome at any time. The pictures on this site do not do it justice and can not capture the panoramic beauty or the magnificent sunsets

Peter and Linda are the perfect hosts without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble and our comfort always took priority.

Their knowledge of the local area and people is very useful and we had an extremely enjoyable holiday based on this.

The area is ideally suited for both a relaxing and adventurous trip, depending on what you desire. You do need a car though !

The local people are very friendly and welcoming, and again are very helpful.

The local tavernas serve really good food, and Dourakis, the nearby winery is a must. We had a very personalised and friendly tour with just four of us. The wine tasting was well worth the visit and it didn't cost much either.

We toured quite a bit of the Island, but couldn't wait to get back to that pool and the spacious villa.

We never go back to the same place twice but I think that will now be a habit we change. All being well we would like to return next year..

All in all a fantastic holiday in an exceptional villa in an ideal location

Beautiful hillside villa… spectacular sea and mountain views… infinity pool

By David M on 04-Jul-2016

In a sensational spot slightly out of the small village of Kampia (so feels nicely isolated), the modern stone-built villa is stylish, well-equipped and furnished in a comfortable fashion. The owners are affable and accommodating, but at the same time unobtrusive. The gorgeous infinity pool, with fantastic views, is great for a relaxing dip (we loved having a pool to ourselves), and children will love the games area. There are tiled floors, two impeccable shower rooms, TVs, terraces. There is internet too, if you fancy talking to the wider world.

There are two upstairs bedrooms, and in the downstairs den there’s a sofa bed.

For provisions there are small shops just a few minutes away by car, together with a number of tavernas with traditional cooking run by hospitable locals. The friendly beach resort of Almirida is about a 10-minute drive from the villa, downhill all the way!

Conceived by an inspired architect, Villa Rhea is a characterful and very charming retreat, and the surrounding area is very lovely.

Highly recomended.

A beautiful villa with stunning views

By Sam R on 03-Jul-2016

Villa Rhea is presented to the highest of standards - a real home from home. It has everything you could want from a holiday property and benefits from stunning views over the mountains and down towards Souda Bay. The villa is set in the most serene countryside with the only noise coming from the chicadas! However, the pretty little village of Plaka is only a few minutes drive away while the busier resort of Almyrida with plenty of restaurants is about 15 minutes down the road. Linda and Peter were always on hand to help and advise but never imposed themselves on us, so while their home adjoins the villa, you'd never know they were there unless you needed them. Overall, one of the best properties we've stayed in abroad with a view you will never tire of looking at! Highly recommended.

Wonderful, relaxing villa in a beautiful location.

By Joanna W on 30-Apr-2016

We found the villa to be even better than the photos and description show. It was very well furnished throughout and the views were stunning. The sunrises and sunsets were particularly spectacular. The property was very clean and very well maintained. Peter and Linda were very friendly and helpful and sorted out a couple of maintenance issues as soon as we mentioned them. We loved Chania - the shopping was great and the harbour was lovely. We enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride through the town. The beach at Almyrida was nice too. Our whole family agreed it was the best holiday we had been on together. We will be back!

Fantastic property

By Jan S on 25-Aug-2015

It really doesn't happen that often that the actual reality would surpass the expectations originally created from the pictures presented in the offering. Yet in this case, hands down, Linda and Peter have made it! Their brand new house located in the hills far enough but still close to civilization is furnished with style and provides a great amount of comfort and privacy. And the pool - boy, the kids loved it so much no matter if it was day or night. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and, despite we typically don't visit the same spot twice, we all agreed on the way back home that we'd love to come back here again sometime. So, many thanks to Peter and Linda again for their hospitality! Jan, Markéta and the kids

Fantastic place to stay

By Jim C on 22-Aug-2015

We spent a blissful week sunning ourselves in Crete, Peter and Linda have provided a beautiful place for a holiday with stunning views. They went the extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable and easy. The house has everything you might expect from a holiday let and more. The pool was a huge hit with the kids and offers spectacular views. The location is very handy for visiting almyrida kalives chaina (you will need a car)and I'm sure other places but the house and pool were such a draw we maybe didn't go exploring as much as we should. All in all I would recommend this as a holiday destination without reservation. Go there, you will love it!

Stunning house, great location and setting

By David M on 21-Jul-2015

Many thanks to Peter and Linda for making our 2015 family-holiday. Getting back into the wet and cold of Glasgow was not what we needed after the great time spent in Kambia . The western side of Crete is very beautiful and the views from Villa Rhea were a delight, especially if you get up around 06.00, coffee in hand and watch the sun-rise fall on the White Mountains. There are loads of good places to visit - Chania is only a short drive (watch out for scooterists!!) and well worth a visit to the Old Harbour area, The restaurants in Almyrida, Plaka and Kalives are fairly varied, have fine local dishes and all are decent value. Well done to both Peter and Linda for creating a fantastic property and we wish them all the best with Villa Rhea. The Murray Clan, Perthshire, Scotland. P.S Apologies for the lateness of our arrival: I blame the map-reader as I was only twirling the steering wheel.
