Villa in La Xara, Nr. Denia, Costa Blanca, Spain - Peaceful Location, Set in Orange Groves

'El Camichin' is a 250 year old finca which has been completely restored, providing a lovely holiday home whilst retaining all its charm. The house has been fully modernised to a very high standard throughout. It is set in it's own grounds surrounded by rural land with orange groves with fantastic views all round. The walled perimeter gives the house and pool area a high degree of privacy. Despite its rural location, amenities are close at hand with the nearest village of La Xara only 3 minutes drive away. La Xara has a large supermarket, 2 bakeries & several other shops as well as bars & a couple of restaurants.
The pretty village of Jesus Pobre which is where the property management company are based, is only about 3km away & JP services are on hand to assist you with anything you require during your stay as well as providing the keys to the property. Jesus Pobre has a bank & cash point as well as a pharmacy & bakery & 4 bars/restaurants..Every Sunday there is a farmers market in the centre of the village at the old Riu Rau (a local construction built to dry the grapes in order to intensify the sugars to create sweeter wines). This market is famous for local produce which ranges from bread, sweet & savoury pastries, fresh vegetables & local wine. There are tables to sit outside, soak up the atmosphere & listen to music whilst sampling the local produce.
The house:
The house is tiled with handmade terracotta tiles throughout but has underfloor heating, a wood burning stove & double glazing for the chillier months. There is no air conditioning except in the poolhouse, but the thickness of the old stone walls keeps the rooms cool in summer & mosquito screens at the windows enable good use of summer breezes at night. In addition there are electric fans in all the bedrooms. Within the main house there are 2 bedrooms upstairs, the main bedroom has a kingsized bed & an ensuite shower room with toilet & double basins; the other upstairs room has twin beds & an ensuite shower room with toilet. Both rooms upstairs have access to the roof terrace which boasts magnificent views to Denia Harbour & the old castle in Denia as well as the Montgo. There is a large bedroom downstairs with a queen sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with bath, separate shower & toilet.
the living area has a large corner sofa, wood burning stove as well as TV & DVD, the TV receives satellite channels so all UK terrestrial channels can be accessed as well as a selection of others. There is internet in the property.
Some DVDs are kept in the house for the use of guests as well as board games & books.
The dining area has a table which comfortably seats 8 & which opens onto a small enclosed internal courtyard. The kitchen is well fitted with a large electric fan oven, 5 ring gas hob, dishwasher & large american-style fridge freezer; there is plenty of crockery, cutlery & kitchenware including plastic glasses & plates for using around by the pool.
There are several places to sit and/or eat outside the house including a covered area by the pool which has a large table & a gas fired barbecue as well as a small fridge in which to keep drinks easily accessible. There are several sun loungers by the pool which is 10m x 5m in size & is maintained by a Spaniard named Antonio who comes twice a week to clean the pool & sweep around it - he usually arrives early in the morning & speaks very little English.
The pool house has a bedroom with 2 twin beds & a large shower room & toilet but is completely detached from the house. Airconditioning has been added to the poolhouse.
The whole property is walled to ensure privacy & there are some lovely mature olive & palm trees plus many plants softening the hard landscaping. There is room for one or two cars inside the lockable gates as well as hard standing outside off the road.
There is a utility room off the kitchen courtyard which has a further large drinks fridge as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer & ironing facilities; there is also a further toilet off the utility room.
Once a week the management company provide a maid service to change the bedding & sweep the house. Bath towels & bedlinen are included in the price & will be changed by the maids. Pool towels are also provided but guests are asked to wash them at the end of their stay as well as clean the barbecue after use.


Lovely family home

We stayed at the Finca for 2 weeks this summer and had a wonderful time. The pool area is fantastic - lots of space around it and the pool itself was larger than we were expecting. Lots of different areas for eating both inside and out and very well equipped kitchen. Large bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe space and modern bathrooms. Excellent location with lots of places to visit that kept both our children and us happy (would definitely recommend a day trip to Valencia). All my queries were answered super fast by the owner both before and during our stay. Enjoy!
