Villa Nefeli near Fiskardo, Kefalonia, Greek Islands, Greece - Peaceful Location Near Beach And Tavernas
Recently renovated, traditional Kefalonian villa in private grounds overlooking the Ionian Sea. Fully equipped kitchen, secluded pool, mature gardens. Absolute privacy. Air conditioning and wifi
Amazing views of the sea from the pool terrace and the upper balcony lift the spirits immediately on arrival. A large palm tree greets visitors at the entrance, and surrounding greenery creates a private oasis in which sitting around the private pool all day with an occasional dip to cool off seems a good way to relax! A huge olive tree offers natural shade onto the spacious terraces, and verdant forests stretch as far as the eye can see. Maganos village is close enough to stroll to in the evenings for traditional Greek cuisine and in the early mornings, a visit to the local shops for fresh bread, thick Greek yoghurt and local honey.
An impressive house, the terracotta-coloured exterior displaying green shutters is typical of the Ionian Islands with a pergola at the front leading from the living area, perfect for al fresco dining. The interior offers a cool airy open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Comfortable bright blue sofas add an almost nautical feel and the carefully thought out kitchen caters for all tastes. The ground floor also has a double bedroom and there are two equally spacious bedrooms on the first floor, both enjoying a balcony; sometimes it is just too tempting to stay put and enjoy a coffee or an aperitif to watch the glorious sunrises and sunsets.
Close by, Alaties Beach (4km) is encircled by vineyards, forests and open countryside, excellent for walking and exploring, and the beach itself has a taverna for idle lunches. Ai Jerusalem, Foki and Myrtos beaches are all worth a visit, as is the whole of the Erissos Peninsula, preserved for its natural beauty. It is a delight to walk across fields and groves and orchards, following centuries old footpaths.
Fiscardo's hidden shops are full of treasures whilst coffee bars serve everything from 'Margaritas' to Greek coffees. After a harbourside meal of fresh fish, grilled meat or one of the many vegetarian dishes found in Greek cuisine, it is fun to watch the evening ritual of the many seacraft jostling for position in Fiscardo's deep harbour.
A very nice property in a quiet location.

We had a lovely two weeks here. The Villa was spacious and clean and the pool was a good size and very well maintained. Its pretty isolated so a car is essential. I would like to recommend to the owner a to provide a better selection of cooking dishes, knives and implements. The plastic garlic crusher was totally useless. I would also suggest several wasp traps are required as this was a constant irritation. Our daughter and boy friend was also very badly bitten by Mosquitos on the first night and this really should be highlighted in your information pack as a major issue. We did not have this problem last year so were caught unaware. We were unable to eat outside at night for the duration of our holiday which was a real shame. The food prices in the local shops were very expensive indeed which was disappointing and we had to make a special journey to Argistoli supermarket where the choice and prices were far more realistic. Overall we had a great time and would recommend Cephalonia to anyone as a holiday destination.

This lovely home from home was in the very best position imaginable - this was our first trip to Greece and absolutely loved being nestled in the Olive groves - there were local farmers in the area so in the late afternoon, there was the sound of the goats being herded home past our gate (very charming) - the house was immaculate, security was great, position was perfect - just a short drive to Fiscardo - a very well stocked mini market just up the road....
our house was so close to 2 magnificent beaches - Alaties and Jerusalem - both also had fantastic restaurants that made really great local food (without feeling like a tourist!)
Best holiday ever - thank you so so much!!
We will most definitely plan to come back and would recommend this property in a heart beat!!

We had a wonderful holiday at Nefeli. Villa is in a lovely position, very quietly situated with good views. The villa has a lot of land and is not overlooked.
Just a couple of minor things, the shelf in the bathroom is missing so not much space for toiletries. Wooden floors upstairs are very creaky. We had an issue with the pool whilst we were there with the water turning green following a storm. We reported it and it was attended to straight away but did take a few days to clear. However, we were advised that it was perfectly ok to swim in.
Villa was generally well maintained and very clean.
Both tavernas in Maganos Village are very good and are about a 20 minute uphill walk away. Wide range of restaurants and shops in Fiscardo which is a 10 minute drive away (taxi 10 Euro each way). Mini markets in Maganos are well stocked.
Directions to the villa from the airport were accurate and very good. Information on the local area and restaurants sent to us before departure was useful (thank you Bob).
The island of Kefalonia is beautiful and would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Perfect peaceful location with stunning views.
By Nicola D. on 12-Sep-2017
The pictures don't do the house justice, it is in keeping with most of the houses on Kefalonia. Th relocation is perfect tucked on the end of a very quiet little hamlet next to a church with no one over looking you. The village of Maganos has 2 shops that sell everything you need and 2 excellent Tavernas.
The interior could do with a tidy in places but had everything we needed. A few queries were resolved within hours by a very nice gentleman and the cleaners were very pleasant, no very thorough when we were home but and excellent clean when we were out.
Tha local beaches are stunning, 5 mins by car and Fiscardo is 15 mins away by car. I will definitely go back to this area as it is by far the prettiest on the Island.
The one thing that would have been nice would be a welcome pack and replenish of toilet paper etc when they clean.

Villa good, pool very good, views fantastic.
By MichaelWales on 31-Jul-2017
Overall we were very happy and pleased but there was a little something missing which would have made us rate 5 Stars instead of just 4.
There was no welcome pack of any sort, including no bottled drinking water. In villas we have rented in the past there was at least water, a couple or so eggs and coffee/tea and milk. This time nothing. Luckily we had taken a flight which got us to the villa in daylight and time to do basic shopping. Had we taken the later flight we would have been very disappointed. Also there was no dish cloth and just two toilet rolls for the entire week hence our shopping lists were longer than usual.
The write up mentioned two tavernas within a 10 minute walk. It might be possible for an Olympic athlete to do it in 10 minutes but we had to use the car.
Having said all the above we WOULD use the villa again but go prepared.

Relaxing holiday and lovely views
By JoanneMc27 on 30-Jun-2017
A great villa for a family holiday. Lovely views and very quiet and relaxing location. Plenty of shade around the pool for when it gets too hot and plenty of room inside. Short drive or 15 minute walk to Maganos where there are two tavernas and two stores with all your needs including local sheeps yogurt. There is a fabulous place to eat at Alateis Beach called Acqua Alateis where you can watch the sun set while enjoying a drink and Greek meze or a meal. Book in advance as can get busy. We did walk once (about 2.8km) but all uphill on way back!
Bags of fresh apricots and plums left at the door which was lovely.
Bathrooms are a little bit small and no shelf or storage place in upstairs bathroom. Minimal crockery (only 6 of everything) so you have to keep up with the dishwashing. There is a dishwasher but it wasn't working properly when we were there.

A relaxing rural retreat
By Steph C on 12-Aug-2014
Rob and Annemarie were great to deal with very helpful. Car hire and directions to get to the property were excellent. We loved this delightful villa, it is comfortable and well equipped in a quiet and relaxed rural environment with wonderful views of the sea. We woke to the gentle clinking of goat bells and the call of the goatherd. The 10 minute walk to the village gave us access to two well stocked supermarkets and two family run typically Greek tavernas. For more sophisticated fare Fiskardo has lots to offer. We can also recommend the bar at Alates beach and the wonderful restaurant at Jerusalem which we wished we'd found earlier in the holiday - no menu you get shown and described the dishes of the day and make your choice, really lovely food and great atmosphere. For wildlife enthusiasts we heartily recommend the Wildlife Adventure boat trip from Fiskardo - run by a marine biologist we learned so much about undersea life and had a fab lunch on board.

Villa Nefeli is in a great location, just a 5 minute drive to the pretty marina in Fiskardo where you can choose from a good range of restaurants and cafes (Elli's, Tassia & Theodora's) whilst enjoying the fabulous scenery.
Although the journey from the airport looks a long way on the map, it was no problem, we just enjoyed the spectacular views!!
It is well worth a visit to Myrtos (Captain Corelli's) beach as very sandy with loungers and parasols and Antisamos beach which although pebbly is well worth a visit as very well run with loungers, shades and bars. Assos and Ag. Efimia are also worth visiting for their pretty harbours.
Villa Nefeli itself was a little oasis and very private - every morning we sat in bed with a cup of tea just taking in the views out to sea and the mountains beyond. It was truly breath-taking!
The garden and pool area was great - providing the right amount of shade in the long, hot afternoons. The villa was well furnished and the beds were super comfortable with scrupulously clean linen, that was changed mid-week. The villa agent popped in to see if everything was ok and we were even provided with fresh eggs by the cleaner!! Thank you to Bob for arranging our car hire from the airport - what a hassle-free handover!
We will definitely be returning to Villa Nefeli- and would highly recommend!!
