Townhouse in Gaucin, Ronda Area Andalucia, Spain - Peaceful Location, Yet Close To Local Amenities Casa Laura is a charming little town house in the beautiful village of Gaucín, one of the prettiest villages in the South of Spain. The house, situated in the upper part of the village, sleeps 2 in one bedroom. From the roof terrace you have lovely views of Gaucín, the ruins of a 10th century Moorish castle and the valley of the river Genal. Restaurants, tapas bars and shops are all within easy walking distance. The surrounding area is of outstanding natural beauty and offers opportunities for walks, birdwatching, sightseeing or simply relaxing.
Minimum stay is 4 nights; for longer stays a reduction in rates may be available - please contact us.
Casa Laura has extraordinary views! From the roof terrace, facing north, you can see the dramatic ruins of the Castillo Del Aquila, a 10th century Moorish castle, which is floodlit at the weekends. To the south, you look down the valley towards the shark's fin rock of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and Morocco. It is a paradise for bird watchers, hikers and hill walkers, who are among our main clients. The surrounding area of the Pueblos Blancos (white villages) is of outstanding natural beauty, and the historic town of Ronda is just half an hour's drive north of Gaucin. If you love golf, then The Costa del Sol - 'Costa del Golf' - is just half an hour down the road. The nearest airports are Gibraltar (1 hour's drive) and Malaga (1.5 hour's drive).
Casa Laura is located near the centre of the village, just five minutes' walk from the shops, restaurants and tapas bars, but away from the noise associated with those places. It is a quiet, cosy, intimate house. It is great in the cooler months to curl up with a book by the wood-burning stove, and on the many clear sunny days, nothing beats getting out your binoculars and going up to the roof terrace to watch the eagles soar around the castle!
This is the perfect place to unwind from the stress of city life.
Excellent séjour L'Andalousie est vraiment magnifique avec des paysages extraordinaires
By Jean-Yves Augereau on 03-Jun-2018
A delightful cottage in a magical village
By John Fullerton on 28-May-2018
We had not stayed in this part of the sierras northwest of Malaga, and found the village and hills quite magical. We arrived shortly after the spring rains had ceased, and the hills around the village were ablaze with spring flowers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Casa Laura, which was well equipped, had a shady roof terrace (with marvellous views over the old part of the village), and was very comfortable. The cottage was close to the centre of the village, with several excellent restaurants. Linda and Peter were very friendly and helpful, with good recommendations for our stay in the village and walks in the neighbouring hills. It is difficult to imagine a more perfect place to stay in Gaucin. A relaxing and exhillarating vacation. We hope to return in the not-too-distant future.

The house is gorgeous, with every amenity and spotlessly clean with a super comfy bed. So pretty in it's traditional street, with lovely touches of decoration, wall hangings etc and a roof terrace with breath-taking views. Linda gave us such a warm welcome, lots of information about the house, village and offered help and advice for the duration of our stay (she lives in the same village). The information file was an invaluable source of walking routes, suggested places to eat, visits, essential info for emergencies and even contained handbooks for the electrical equipment in the house etc. There's a small library of alking/guide books and novels. A lot of thought and effort has gone into helping those using the house to be perfectly comfortable and well-informed. The surrounding countryside is stunning and offers superb opportunities for those interested in outdoor activities. An absolute gem and can't recommend highly enough. Not for those who struggle with stairs though.
"Thank you, June! So glad you and John had such a good time. Hope you come again!"

Maison délicieuse, aussi jolie que confortable, dans un charmant village, au coeur d'une des plus belles parties de l'Andalousie.
"Merci Valerie et Arnaud! So glad you enjoyed Casa Laura and the surrounding area! We hope to host you again."
Everything We Needed
By Fional Ball on 06-May-2017
Having stayed in Gaucin before, this was our first stay at Casa Laura. It's a small but beautifully equipped house, and clever use has been made of the available space. Everything was totally spotless. It was lovely to have a different view from the roof terrace, as the house is situated quite high up the village.
Linda was a charming and informative host, following up our visit with courtesy emails once we were home. In fact, we liked it here so much, we've already asked to come back next year!
Owner's Response: Thank you, Fiona! Yes, you are already booked for next Easter! Look forward to seeing you then! Linda
A great place to live the village life
By Peter GIdley on 24-Apr-2017
In the heart of Gaucin this authentic and simple village house is a great way to experience the mountain village life. Linda and Peter have put in lots of thought and little touches to make for a welcoming stay. The super large bed made for a blissful night's sleep and the electric over blanket was a nice touch for the cool April evenings. Also plenty of other heating options to warm you through the evnings. We were the first guests to enjoy the newly installed WIFI. It has a reliable signal and helps you plan local excursions. Plenty of good local bars and restaurants - we enjoyed Platero & Co enough to go twice. Lots of walking in idyllic countryside (climb El Hacho if you enjoy a challenge - be prepared to scramble up and down). Many places to visit within an easy 45 minute to 2 hour journey through stunning scenery. We did many of them - the unspoilt Atlantic beaches, Ronda, Mediterranean beaches, Ubrique and highlight of them all the Genal Valley - take a day to explore it. Thanks for the holiday memories - we may well return on one of our next visits to our own home on the Costa del Sol.
Owner's Response: So glad you had such a wonderful time! Hope to see you again! Linda and Peter
Great town house for relaxing holiday
By Susan J. on 19-Sep-2016
We were delighted with Casa Laura when we spent two weeks there in September. The details provided on the site provided an accurate picture of what was available. The house was comfortable and had all the equipment we needed. It was great to watch the Santo Nino procession from our windows. The descriptions in the house book for a series of local walks were particularly valuable as it meant we could really get to know the environments - viewing the buzzards close up on the slopes of El Hacho and walking the old mule paths down to the Hermitage and beyond. We hardly needed to get the car out and visit farther afield. There are excellent restaurants in the town as well as friendly bars and shops. We'll hope to visit again ourselves in the future and would recommend this house highly to couples wanting a home from home.
Owner's Response: So glad you had a relaxing time! We look forward to welcoming you back! Linda and Peter
