Beautiful house, breathtaking views, great service

By Neil Armstrong on 31-Jul-2016

Wow - the property was evening more stunning than the pictures suggested! The location perched overlooking the countryside leading to the sea was stunning.

The location, despite being rural, was very accessible to beaches and restaurants in the south of the island.

The house is modern, clean and wonderfully maintained by the managers (Paul and Sara) but we spent most of the time enjoying the outside space.

The pool, croquet lawn and the outside projector screen (for watching DVDs) were popular with everyone, but the evenings relaxing on the covered terrace as the sun set were particularly enjoyed by the adults.

Viva's cooking was delicious and a great treat. Breakfasts prepared to order at amazing speed (always with a smile) was a great start to the day and then lunch/dinner always seemed to keep four adults and five children happy!

From the warm greeting when we arrived at the airport to the escort to the port and airport at the end of the week everything was perfect. The owners (Denise and Vin) made great recommendations on restaurants, beaches and things to do. They helped with car hire, reservations and to arrange a wonderful day out by boat. They were also able to organise our transfer by boat and taxi to our hotel on neighbouring Zakynthos at the end of the week. Paul also offered to drive if we went out in the evenings.

The level of service was similar to being in a 5 Star hotel but with the added benefit of being in a home!

We would all recommend the location, the house and services that it offered.

Thank you for an amazing week!

A very special villa.

By Tara Williamson on 09-Jul-2016

We were lucky enough to secure the beautiful Villa Kalliste for our wedding and enjoyed every minute of our week's stay. Vincent and Denise were wonderfully warm and welcoming hosts. They were extremely attentive to all our needs. Paul and Sara too were lovely and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Needless to say, Villa Kalliste is even more stunning than the already beautiful photos! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this very special place. One of Kefalonia's many gems!

A beautiful villa in a stunning location

By Sarah De Buriatte on 11-Jul-2015

A great start to our holiday being met by our friendly hosts at the airport who helped to organise hire cars and led us the scenic route back to the villa after a hugely appreciated lunch stop at a beautiful and authentic restaurant by the sea. Villa Kalliste is modern and very clean with everything you could wish for. The real wow factor comes with the outside space and the amazing views. It was incredibly hot when we visited but with air con everywhere, plenty of beautiful shady spots in the grounds and the most pristine swimming pool ever, it was never a problem. The housekeeping staff were very helpful but also discreet. It would be a very quiet holiday indeed without a car which is needed for just about everything, especially in mid summer heat, but we found the local villages and restaurants to be of consistently high quality and always cheerful service. We also found the most lovely snorkelling beach a 5 minute (and 10 minute walk) away. The perfect start to many perfect days. A really lovely holiday enjoyed by us all.

Beautiful, peaceful, super well-appointed villa

By Leslie Ragsdale on 13-Jun-2015

Where to begin to describe Villa Kalliste, its gracious owners and super helpful staff? From the initial inquiry to the final check out and everywhere in between, Vin and Denise were gracious and helpful. Their property managers, Sara and Paul, were so professional and accommodating and their concierge, Clair, an absolute delight. We also had Viva cook for us and love, love, love both Viva and her glorious cooking. Her food was fresh and made to our picky (gluten free, vegetarian for various people in our group...meat for others) tastes. On to the villa itself...everything is absolutely perfect. From the sound system by the pool (just plug in your phone for your playlist!) to the full kitchen, to the separate pool house (with mini kitchen too!), screens on every door and window so the breezes come in and the bugs stay out (there is AC too if you need it) to the spacious closets and bathrooms so you really can move in while you are there (they are lucky to get us out...it was so tempting to stay!) We loved the island too, of course, and Paul drove us to the other side one day and we took a super fun boat ride that Vin and Denise recommended. I recommend this villa 1000% and hope that you have an amazing time there!

Villa Kalliste

By Diana Hardcastle on 23-Aug-2014

Having spent the last 7 years in luxurious properties in the south of France,we wanted a change and to return to old haunts in Greece. This villa appeared,as if by magic on the Internet, and it was magic. The villa is exquisite, and even more beautiful than the pictures suggest. And yet,it is friendly and comfy too. The views everywhere are magnificent at all times of day. What could be more glorious than drinking your first coffee of the day, mesmerised by the sea

and watching the fishing boats bring in their catch?

The team involved, from Denise and Vin the owners,to Sara and Paul, who maintain the villa( to an astonishing degree) and Stewart who will drive you places, and of course, the magnificent Viva( a chef extraordinaire) will delight you. This is the place to be...only don't take our space!!!

The owners are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about local restaurants, beaches, boat trips, and of course, outings. So you don't need to be scared about what to do or see,if you've never been to Kefalonia before. Ask and they will help and indeed organise.

We went with our grown up kids and friends of theirs and ours.

Everyone loved it.

The villa manages to be exotic and grand and at the same time becomes your home.

That is to do with the management and the team.

Go! But we hope to beat you to it!

Fantastic home from home, great for children!

By Nancy Miller on 28-Jun-2014

The villa was fantastic, far better than the pictures led you to believe which was a very unexpected surprise. The owners take your holiday very seriously, and you really feel very special and looked after from the moment you arrive. The housekeeper was lovely, she had supplied a wonderful cot and bedding for my two year old son and was so thoughtful, putting up a special cot mozzie net and going above and beyond. The house is lived in by the owners when it's not rented to people like us, and you could tell it was done to a very high standard, rather than being just a holiday home, everything was of the best quality. The bath was non slip for my son, the fridge beeped to remind you to shut the door if open for too long, and the grass on the lawn was like a thick lush carpet. The air con was extremely effective and each room was operated separately. The owners put up a stair gate and supplied a very good high chair for my son. They even picked up nappies and wipes for our arrival. We used the chef, Viva for two meals a day and she is an absolute treasure, such a lovely lady. She cannot do enough for you and is so keen to please, she made me a wonderful four layer cake for my Birthday which is the best carrot cake any of us had ever tasted. She bent over backwards to please a fussy eater and my son who is also fussy, making three different meals at one sitting to please everyone with absolutely no problem. She did all the washing up and served each course and was such a key part of our overall enjoyment. The cinema area was great, there was a storm before we arrived which caused projector issues but the owners bent over backwards to get things fixed immediately, even though it was out of their control, and they have extremely high standards which was great to see. They are on hand with sight seeing advice, and great Island tips including hidden beaches and hints to lovely tavernas, they booked boats for us and even brought me a birthday present! The villa was cleaned twice during our weeks stay and was spotless, the pool was cleaned every other day and it was always extremely clean. The view was gorgeous, right over the sea, and the nearest neighbours are miles away so you felt like you were in your own private place in paradise, which in essence you are. I could go on and one but I'll leave it only to say that if you want to explore this fantastic Island there surely can be no better base to do it from than Villa Kalliste!

Villa Kalliste is a beautiful, tranquil & perfect!

By Nia Strei on 21-Jun-2014

We had such a lovely time at Villa Kalliste. I would drop everything and go back tomorrow if life allowed. From the time we arrived at the airport and were greeted by Vince and Denise and their smiling assistant Sara, to the time that we left, so reluctantly, our every wish was answered and our every need was met! The Villa is exactly as pictured on the website, no fancy wide-angle lenses or trick photography here. The pool is sublime, clean and the perfect temperature. Towels and comfortable seating areas are plentiful poolside, as well as a refrigerator, a grill and plenty of shaded areas if needed. The furnishings are comfortable and neutral, accented with 'pops' of color, giving each room and each bedroom suite, a theme of its own. The kitchen was superbly outfitted for cooking, but we did absolutely ZERO cooking because we were able to take advantage of the AMAZING VIVA, the personal chef at Villa Kalliste.

We had two meals a day prepared with the utmost care, and attention to our wishes and preferences. All preparation and cleanup was handled by VIVA, and if she is available when you stay at Villa Kalliste, I highly recommend you arrange for her services. You will not regret it!!

Villa Kalliste is immaculately clean, and well maintained. The ownersssss, Vince and Denise, made sure that we had a clear understanding of the activities and sights in the surrounding areas and they arranged drivers as we needed. They were also helpful in making restaurant recommendations and procuring local wines for our enjoyment. I can't say enough positive things about their general hospitality and concern for our well being. Customer service at it's finest--yet we never felt smothered!

Our favorite day was probably when Denise chartered a pleasure boat for us to tour the Ithaca coastline. With our own captain, we meandered up the coast, pulling into coves alongside sailboats and yachts, swimming in the incredible clear waters of the Ionian, and enjoying refreshments and lunch provided by our captain. We also really enjoyed walking to the nearest beach, and driving to local Avithos Beach, visiting the local taverna and swimming in the sea. We truly hated to leave. Keffalonia is an undiscovered treasure. The people are warm and friendly, there is no unrest, the shopkeepers are pleasant and it is amazingly restful. Next time we plan to stay longer.

A stunningly beautiful luxury villa; idyllic.

By David Strawbridge on 24-May-2014

Villa Kalliste exceeds expectation. The recently built house and adjacent guest house are designed and finished to the highest specifications; well thought out to maximise comfort and well being. Layout, fittings and furnishings are second to none. We were impressed by the attention to detail - everything was clean and immaculately maintained.

Place all this in beautiful gardens, complete with a gorgeous pool and all overlooking an amazing view of the Ionian Sea and you have some idea of what Kalliste is all about.

The owners are very hospitable - they did everything possible to make our stay very special.

We fell in love with the area; wonderful walks on winding tracks through olive, lemon and orange groves - all dramatically underpinned by great swathes of wild flowers. An unspoilt landscape at every turn: and always a beautiful beach just around the corner.

We ate out a lot ....and why wouldn't you? The food is is generally of a high standard and very inexpensive, the service invariably friendly and the surroundings a delight.

We particularly treasured Avithos Taverna and Eleonas restaurant - both recommended by the owners of Kalliste.

We would thoroughly recommend Villa Kalliste to anyone.

Enjoy!

Villa Kalliste is sublime!

By Stephen Murphy on 17-May-2014

We, four of us, have just spent a wonderful holiday in Villa Kalliste!

What a mixture of simplicity and sophistication! The simplicity of the rural idyll that is the Kefalonian countryside, and the sophistication of the Villa itself.

Villa Kalliste is approached via a farm track which doesn’t prepare you for the vision that awaits you around the final bend. The wonderful Villa, the superb landscaping, the view down over the vineyard to the Ionian sea, which is a blue heaven!

My wife laid claim to “her corner” on the covered veranda and would not be moved. (except to sample the wonderful food and wines in the local Eleonas restaurant and other superb restaurants).

The Villa is beautifully appointed, with all modern conveniences of the very best quality!

We were particularly impressed with the beautiful pool, and the barbecue area with its own dining table so the cook won’t feel isolated while preparing your feast.

The peace and tranquillity will lull you into complete relaxation; the only traffic noise you will hear is the fluttering of the swifts and the faint scuttle of the tiny lizards as they hide from the guests!

The owners, Vin and Denise O’Brien, are available to see to your needs, (as are the managers, Paul and Sara) and were very helpful with advice about walks locally and what trips we should make to some of the most beautiful places I have seen!

We shared a car, an absolute essential, as there is so much to see within a short drive, and because the roads are not exactly highways everybody drives slowly enough to enjoy the wonderful views. We recommend a short hop up to St George’s Castle where you will find delightful cafes with incomparable views.

Fantastic Property!

By Belinda Lopez on 26-Apr-2014

You know from the moment you are greeted at the airport by owners Denise and Vin that you are going to have an amazing stay. The high service level and attention to quality and detail is a real point of difference. The Villa itself is stunningly beautiful and waking up to that view everyday, well I didn't want to leave. There is so much to do on the island and the location is perfect for exploring (very private yet central). I would stay at this property again without hesitation and will be recommending it to anyone and everyone.

More than met our expectations!

By Veronique Black on 19-Oct-2013

Villa Kalliste more than met our expectations. The owners and their staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful! The villa is in probably one of the best locations on the Island. The pictures do not do justice to the comfort and attention to detail to make your stay a real home from home. Really well equipped kitchen, very comfortable and beautifully furnished bedrooms and luxury bathrooms. The outside space is comfortable and practical but at the same time it has had the same meticulous attention to detail in its planning as the interior and with its spectacular views, beckons you from sunrise to sunset! The whole place was spotlessly clean.

The Island is beautiful and the local people charming. The beaches, both locally and further north were among the most breathtaking that I have ever seen, ranging from beautiful secluded coves to bigger beaches with spectacular approaches! The local restaurants served great home cooked local produce at really reasonable prices. The locally produced organic white wine beats many much more expensive wines I can think of!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Villa Kalliste again or to recommend it to family and friends. Congratulations to the owners on managing to create this little slice of paradise!

What a fabulous week !

By Steven Peakes on 21-Sep-2013

My word we had a fantastic week at Villa Kalliste. We were met at the airport by Denise & Vin who brought us straight our hire car for us to follow them to the stunning villa. This is the forth time my wife and I have stayed on this island in the last 4 years and on this occasion we were joined by my parents and my wife's aunt.

Each room at the villa was exceptional and the outside spaces were all beautiful.

We ate out for lunch every day and then returned to the villa each afternoon and then BBQ'd because we very quickly realised there was no were so special on the island then the place where we were staying.

The villa was always spotlessly clean, the kitchen was fully equipped. The pool was wondrous and as for the views..... I used to look forward to waking up just to take in that morning view across the bay and to watch the eagle catch and enjoy its breakfast.

You feel completely tranquil in the villa and there was more than enough room for the 5 of us. When you did feel the urge to leave, there were lovely beeches not far away and every town had a lovely taverna or restaurant tucked away somewhere. The main town is only 20 mins way then for a further excursion it is only an hour to Assos and a bit further to Fiskardo, both of which are must see's.

But do not try to do too much. Just kick back and enjoy your wonderful stay at the villa.
