Our interior photos show the beautiful restoration work to the thick stone walls which insulate the house in both summer and winter, and all the beams are original, as is the fireplace, ancient gate and lock, front door, and so much more... all done by owner George who lived in this house as a child. The lounge and each bedroom has a TV. Wi-Fi Internet access is provided for you to keep in touch with the outside world.
Villa Nicolas is quietly situated in the village centre in a no through lane, hidden behind high stone walls, and gated for more privacy.
A short 100m stroll brings you to the heart of the village where you will find a museum, 3 coffee shops, 2 also offering sandwiches, hamburgers and drinks. One offers souvlaki kebab, another food to order, including meze cooked just for you. The coffee shops have added some mini-market items to their range which is handy, so you can get some basics in the village.
Just 600m away on edge of village with wonderful views is attractive stone built Paradisos Hotel which is a lovely spot for a drink at sunset, (see the Review from Clive Benfield) and they serve good food too.
Closest beaches are Latchi and Polis. Polis offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants and Latchi is famous for its fish taverns beside the Marina, boat hire and trips.
2 adult discount when dates fit with current bookings, on request.
Dear Mrs. Hare, 7 - 14 April. Everything was perfect and beautiful. We got the starts (hamper) and it was very helpful for the first day. Only, we didn't know the switch for the heating water. But Gorge told us. We didn't use the pool, it was too cold outside. For us ! Of course, we can recommended the house, it is one of the most beautiful house there. We like the old one very much and we used the chimney every evening. For best regards Corinna Kammerer
Hi Irene, Sorry for the delay in writing this email, but the children have been straight back to school and back to work for us too. We just wanted to say how fantastic our holiday was in Cyprus, and Villa Nicolas played a huge part in making our holiday so special. The village of Lysos couldn't have been friendlier, with the locals being very welcoming and generous. One shop had ran out of bread and the owner gave us the remainder of her loaf. Another time we needed some butter, again the shop was waiting for a delivery and so he gave us a cup full from his own supply! It was lovely meeting George and finding out about the history of the villa whilst enjoying a cold beer on the terrace with him! The English couple directly opposite, certainly 'kept out of view' from our pool area and we did not feel overlooked. They were more concerned about their 5 week old puppies and dogs disturbing us and we were concerned our 3 playful (!) children were disturbing them! The welcome hamper was perfect and the red wine was lovely!! We have already recommended Sundance Villas to friends and family and if we plan to return to Cyprus, we would not hesitate in contacting you again. Thank you once again for your excellent customer service and attention to detail in booking our holiday villa with you.
Just a note to thank your for organising our holiday in Villa Nicolas, everything went smoothly and we had a excellent holiday. The Villa was lovely and like everyone else, we enjoyed Annas meals at the cafe and everyone in the village was very helpful. The roads from the village into the mountains were surprisingly good as well, and we had some lovely drives, very glad we had the air conditioned car though as it was very hot.
Hello Irene, Here is the review of the Paradisos Hills Hotel, Lysos, which is a short stroll from Villa Nicolas, and clients should not miss it is sunset. Here, in this very friendly little hotel, we were offered a fairly good menu of fairly good food. But that's not the attraction here. The dining area is on a balcony overlooking the hotel pool and then right down the valley to the sea. After eating, we took our drinks down to the bottom of the garden and sat on the lovely little seat that's perched above a drop (no H&S railing here thank you), watching the sun set in beautiful peace. Very romantic. I'm sure that lots of people miss this place as it doesn't look like much more than a hotel, but it's well worth a visit. The new directions to Villa Nicolas are perfect and could only be bettered by the provision of a native tracker. We’ll be back in Cyprus, and with Sundance, so thanks again and see you soon!
Here is a copy of the email that I sent to Diana Mills, who I understand has since booked Villa Nicolas with you: Hello Diana, We have been very happy with the service from Irene, (Irene Hare Sundance Villas) whenever we have spoken she has always been very helpful and informative. She comes across as someone who knows what she is on about and not just a sales orientated rep. In our opinion, Villa Nicolas is ideal for our type of holiday, we just wanted to relax for the week with a bit of sightseeing and evening meals in local taverna. Villa Nicolas is located in a quiet friendly village (up in the mountains), but within 20 minutes drive from the coast and reasonable sized town of Polis. The villa itself is as the photos from Irene show, with 3 good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and good kitchen and lounge. The pool is well situated, of a good size and we had great fun in it, indeed we found that we preferred spending the day by the pool instead of at the coast. There are two sun umbrella's one associated with the outdoor table and bench seats and the other with the sun loungers. You would need to ask George (the owner, very nice, helpful and quite happy to oblige if he can) if you could take the sun umbrella to the beach, but the beaches we visited all have sun loungers with umbrella's at about 2 Euro each which would be much more convenient than taking one from the villa. We only tried the one Taverna which was about 100 meters from the Villa, George showed us where it was and introduced us to Anna and her husband, the owners. There is another taverna / cafe' but after our first nights evening meal with Anna we decided that we were quite happy with them and did not try the other one. In fact we had every evening meal with them and on average it was about £60 per night for 4 adults with wine and beers and good portions of local food. Again it is a small village so there are not any fancy restaurants, but you can easily walk to Anna's from the villa, have a good meal and not worry about driving home. There are plenty of restaurants of all types in Polis, if you would rather try something else with a wider menu. We hired a car for the week and so it was easy to get about. As with all of these things, what some people think is great is not considered as great for others, but as Irene has mentioned we have already booked the villa again for next year and are looking forward to another very enjoyable relaxing holiday. P.S. Could you pass our best regards to George
We had a lovely holiday in Villa Nicolas in September this year (2017) The setting in a small village but with in easy access of the main towns was just perfect. George ( the owner ) was so welcoming and we enjoyed getting to know him as well as some of the local residents . The walled garden with pool is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peace of the area. We will definitely return !
Hi Irene, Just a note to inform you we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the villa Nicolas in Lysos. It was quite incredible we were made so welcome by the villagers they couldn't do enough for us and we wanted to stay another week.... Honestly Irene, George Maro Mike/Jim Russ/Ruby and the rest couldn't have made us more welcome, and a few english couples we met were extremely jealous about the time we had. Will call later re re booking in May. Cheers Ed and Pauline - A. Repeat clients for many years
Situated in a very quiet area. Local amenities.George the owner was very helpful when contacted. Everything was there that you needed ranging from washing up liquid ,soap ,washing powder the list goes on.Excellent. Lovely swimming pool nicely designed. Would definitely recommend.
Dear Irene Just a note to thank you for arranging our holiday at Villa Nicolas. We had a great time...We met with George a couple of times and he was charming and very accommodating and let us all stay for the four nights we were all there. It worked out very well as the three children slept together. We ate most nights at Anna’s in the village and she did a great meal for us on the Saturday as it was Faridah’s birthday and arranged for a “cake”. We were very grateful we were up high as it was very hot but we got a lovely breeze and the children just loved the pool. We did have a couple of trips to Paphos and Polis – the beach in the latter case – but were very pleased to get back to Lysos. The villagers were all very friendly and the supermarket had everything we needed. Cy-Breeze came up trumps with the car and were waiting for us at the airport. Faridah & Michael had a second one off them for five days, so really everything went extremely well. We all thoroughly enjoyed our break and would certainly recommend both the villa and yourself to anyone who wanted a trouble free holiday away from the crowds. Thank you.
Dear Irene, We would just like to say a massive Thank you for the time we had in villa Nicolas, it was amazing we couldn't have asked for a better holiday and will be returning as soon as we can. The kids had a fantastic time in the pool and the villa had everything we could have ever imagined needing. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch as it meant when we arrived late at night we didn't have to rush out in the morning to get things for breakfast. The only thing that could have been improved on would be a cool box for the villa to take drinks out with you for the day but other than that there was so much in the villa (unsure if left for previous guests) that made the villa a real home from home and so easy to stay there. I cannot thank you and the owner enough for such a fantastic holiday. Thank you again and we look forward to staying in one of your Sundance villas agai
Hi Irene Just to say what a fantastic Villa, we had a great time and felt like one of the locals. Can you please give me a price and availability for booking Villa Nicolas for one week, it is my 40th Birthday on the 20th and my brother wants to take us there for a week.
Hi Irene Our holiday was great. Villa Nicolas was probably the best appointed most characterful villa we have ever stayed in - everything we could possibly want had been provided. The pool area was stunning - complete privacy surrounded by lemon trees and jasmine - idyllic. We really did not want to come home. Hope to book another year when the weather is cooler and we can walk and sightsee too. Everything went well - from flights to car hire and directions to the villa
Hello Irene, Just thought I'd drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed our holiday at Villa Nicolas in Lysos. It hasn't changed one bit since we were last there and thats a good thing. The girls absolutely loved the pool. We had trouble getting them out, especially when it was really hot!! No complaints about the villa it was perfect. Just thought I'd let you know about some the restaurants we went to with the girls. The Mystery Tavern in Polis was nice as they had a play area and kept the girls amused. The food was reasonable and fairly priced. Takkas Taverna: The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The view out to sea was amazing and we could have sat there all night. The Faros restaurant in Latchi was a nice restaurant but we quickly learnt not to buy 2 childrens meals there as they were so big and just bought one for them to share. Their prawn salads are to die for!! The Moustakalis Taverna in Polis was really nice, again big portions and reasonably priced. However, our favourite by far was Chix Chou in Polis. Fantastic food. My 2 year old is a fussy eater but she ate all of their spaghetti bolognaise (not very Cypriot but at least she was eating). The waiters were really good with the girls, making a fuss of them and giving them free icecreams which they loved. Nothing was a problem for them. I really recommend this restaurant if you have children. There is also a park just round the corner from the restaurant so they could run all their energy off!! I would recommend Lysos to anyone!! Thanks for all your help and to all your colleagues in Lysos who popped in to make sure everything was running smoothly. Better start saving for next year! Kind regards, Claire McCubbin and family.
Dear Irene Just to let you know we had a fantastic week at Villa Nicolas over Easter - the kids thoroughly enjoyed it - lived in the heated pool - and we had fun out and about. It wasn't quite like our trip two years ago when it was just the two of us and we loafed around doing not very much, this time it was action packed. We rented a motor boat from Latchi Water Sports. They provided a cool box for our picnic and kitted us out with goggles and snorkels - and shortie wetsuits for the children, and we had a great half day cruising up the coastline of the Akamas. Definitely one to recommend. We also went parasailing with the same people on another day. Another enjoyable outing was to the go-karting centre which is about 1 mile out of Polis on the coast road towards Pomos. It was brilliant fun - good one for the Dads and the boys especially, though Kamilla and I - being speed merchants ourselves - thoroughly enjoyed it too. I would definitely recommend it to families. Thank you for all your help, again, in organising things. The villa was perfect, the car great, weather fantastic and everything went like clockwork. Many thanks. Will no doubt be returning......
