Stylish holiday house, fantastic views, near restaurant, electric mountain bikes
Fienile is a stylish house created in the grounds of Il Collettino - a traditional working farm. Relax round the pool with a fantastic view of the Apuane Mountains.
The fascinating medieval village of Silico is a few metres walk, and there are mapped walks all around the village. The village itself has cultural attractions and events throughout the year. There is an excellent restaurant and bar 2 minutes walk from the house
A unique holiday can be enjoyed at Collettino. The house and pool have been created with quiet relaxation in mind, but gentle and interesting activities can be witnessed on the farm. The farm still works in the traditional way, with sheep, goats, and horses living on the quiet green pastures nearby. It is a fantastic environment for children, who can also explore the traffic free streets of the old village.
The house has been restored from an old barn. The stone structure is original, and in contrast the furniture is stylish, modern and functional. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven and fridge/freezer. A washing machine is also available.
Outside there is a spacious terrace with table and loungers and a panoramic view of the dramatic Apuane Mountains.
There is a wood oven and a BBQ in the garden.
The large shared 12x6 metre pool has a wonderful view over the mountains, with incredible sunsets over this unique place.
It is possible to by products from the farm ( cheese, salamis, ham, marmalade, chestnut flour, faro, and other preserves. It is also possible to arrange for home made pizza, or for a 'tasting' meal featuring the products of the farm.
There is an excellent family run restaurant in Silico, only a one minute walk from the farm. The village itself is interesting; tiny but with fine buildings and wonderful views. A well known medieval festival is held there during August.
The area of Garfagnana is best known for its wonderful scenery, old fashioned ways, rustic food and outdoor activities.
There are two 1 bedroomed apartments on the farm which share the pool and can also be rented.
The house is in Silico, a unique medieval village in the area of the large village of Pieve Fosciana, in the beautiful Garfagnana region of Tuscany. The village has several cultural and food festivals during the year, and local paths have all been clearly marked for walkers and picnicers.
Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With its' stunning scenery it is the best area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities. Friends of Tuscany are the oldest agency in the area, and we have close ties with an Outdoor Activities company who offer many international class adventures including electric mountain biking. We can also offer Art classes with a well known artist, excursions to the Cinque Terre, Florence and Lucca, visits to vineyards, historical guided tours and Italian cooking lessons.
Friends of Tuscany can help you arrange a pre-arrival shopping service, and also a prepared Tuscan meal for your arrival.

The accommodation and setting is stunning, we received a warm welcome and please do ask for a pizza night. A car is essential as there’s nothing close by but this is a great base for getting around Tuscany
Beautiful villa, perfect stay

We stayed here after the place we booked originally was unsuitable for young children. We loved every second. The house is a perfect size for a couple or small family, the finish is excellent and beds very comfortable. The pool area is outstanding, simply the best view I've ever had whilst swimming. There's a jungle gym too which my son loved. The owners were very kind, generous and helpful yet not intrusive. Bruno gave us dried mushrooms and even a bottle of his own wine. A perfect holiday. We are planning on returning next year.
Fantastic property in great location well looked after by Bruno with wine and meat.

Fantastic property in great location well looked after by Bruno with wine and meat. Only downsize was getting to property a little hair raising on roads but we quickly got used to it. Once we were there it was fantastic
Stunning location. Beautiful modern apartment

We stayed in Il Colletino Fienele for 2 weeks during August and I cannot recommend this place enough. The apartment is clean, modern and tastefully furnished. It was well equipped with a very modern kitchen and bathroom suit. There is a large private dining terrace with a BBQ, as well as a large communal eating area with a pizza oven. The owners put on a pizza night which was fantastic for the kids and we got to mingle with the other lovely guests staying at Il Colletino. The views are outstanding and the pool lovely and clean. The village of Silico had a festival when we were there. Simply a perfect holiday and we will be back! Thank you for such a memorable stay.

Séjour exceptionnel dans un cadre magnifique
By Tanguy D on 07-Jul-2017
We were very well received by the owners in this charming farmhouse currently composed of three separate dwellings. If the apartment in which we were had all the necessary comfort, the view that the location offers remains breathtaking. We felt at home for the duration of our stay. The products on the farm allowed us to perfect the feeling of well-being during our stay. The location is quite far from all major tourist attractions: 50min from Lucca, 1h15 from Pisa, 2h30 from Florence, and so on. This did not prevent us from discovering the region and the treasures of which it abounds. Thank you again for these beautiful holidays!
Overall a very nice place and very friendly hosts. Beautiful area and the resturant was excellent.

On the negative side was that the wifi did not work very well, TV was italian only, not a huge problem but had we known we could have brought some DVDs. And it makes huge sence to bring salt and pepper. I guess we where the first guests of the season, so hopefully others will be able to enjoy what we left behind. But we had a wounderful time and enjoyed fab weather.
Serene countryside with beautiful views and close proximity to medieval hill towns
By John C on 20-Oct-2016
If you're looking to get away into the beautiful, serene countryside of Tuscany and to enjoy the crisp mountain air of the Apuane Mountains in close proximity to other medieval hill towns, this is the place for you. After an 11 day cruise out of Venice, my significant other and I rented a car and drove 4 hours to Tuscany where we spent 10 days in Silico. We used Silico as our home base to visit other hill towns in the area. What we loved: -- the farmhouse only a few hundred meters from the medieval village of Silico. --the charming Silico village restaurant and store within walking distance (all uphill) of the farmhouse --the farmhouse infinity pool --the farmhouse picture window overlooking the meandering sheep and beautiful views of the Apuane Mountains --the washing machine - there is no dryer which is ok if it does not rain. --the clean, pristine condition of the farmhouse -- Friends of Tuscany website printout with recommendations for restaurants and visits to other medieval villages within 10 miles of our farmhouse --fresh farm produce in the village store Not so much: -- the 3km drive up the winding road to the farmhouse. -- the lack of basics in the farmhouse. On Friends of Tuscany's website we were led to believe that basic foodstuffs like salt and pepper, herbs etc. would be available. The cupboards were bare. A bit of sugar and coffee would also have been nice. -- lack of instructions on use of the fireplace for cool Fall evenings. --the rusty grill for barbecuing --our inability to communicate with the owners (our problem not theirs).
