A amazing property

By Ruth Foulshaw on 21-Aug-2019

An amazing property in beautiful surroundings
We had a wonderful week staying at Montecastello. The property itself is easy to get to but beautifully quiet, in a lovely garden with stunning views across the mountains. It's all very well kept and we enjoyed the many different sitting and eating areas the house offers and of course the pool!
Ally and Martin are very welcoming and made our stay feel very easy. The boat trip we went on with Martin was a real highlight and both he and Ally were always very helpful with local advice.
I would highly recommend Montecastello for a holiday to suit all ages, whether you enjoy walking, spending time on the coast, wish to explore the amazing local area or just relax at a very special property.

Majestic and Mesmerising Montecastello

By Angela on 17-Sep-2018

Majestic and Mesmerising Montecastello
Tim and i spent a glorious week at Montecastello, first week of September. It very much lived up to the pictures online but they do not seem to be able to truly capture how absolutely gorgeous this castle and location is . It truly was something very special. From the surrounding bushland and animals to the incredibly unique and friendly, welcoming localities that are a very close drive. The castle is exceptionally well equipped and comfortable with anything else required at an easy drive. Lunch at the nearby Agriturismo Montagna Verde was to die for - only wished we had time to have eaten at the others too. Martin and Ally were fantastic hosts with exceptional pre, during and post communication and assistance. The day out on the boat was fabulous too !!!! thank you for a wonderful stay.

Fabulous location and gorgeous house. Within a few hours of arriving we felt relaxed and just sitting with a glass of red and gazing at the beautiful countryside was just what we needed away from our hectic business challenges. Martin and Ally are lovely hosts.

Amazing Holiday

By Heather Majid on 08-Apr-2018

Amazing holiday. Alison and Martin were great hosts, happy to help when we needed any assistance or advice re local places of interest and then leaving us to enjoy ourselves in peace.

The accommodation at Montecastello has that lovely balance of elegance and warm comfort. A lot of thought has been put in to the well equipped kitchen and the entire house has been decorated and maintained to the highest standard.

The location is striking amongst ancient woodlands, mountains and steeped in history and there is good walking for those who like to explore the areas around the house on foot. The pool and outside lounge area with barbecue and dining area are inviting and private. It is only a short drive to the coast and shopping areas so a destination guaranteed to provide something for everyone.

We had a birthday party celebration at Montecastello one evening and Martin and Alison organised the mouthwatering array of authentic Italian food for the occasion. All dietary needs were catered for and I can recommend the vegetarian menu which was imaginative and full of the flavours of Italy.

A holiday to be remembered and one to be repeated!

Our 4th Stay

By Brian Newman on 26-Mar-2018

We have stayed at Montecastello 4 times now, and each time enjoyed our "Italian experience " the castle is delightful, well thought out with luxurious fittings, the views around are stunning, there are lots of places to explore, Tuscany is so unspoilt, it's like walking back in time, there is a fabulous rail service for sight seeing, or if you prefer just sitting in the shade by the pool enjoying the peaceful ambiance. Fabulous holiday!

By Lesley G on 28-Jun-2017

Montecastello has been beautifully renovated, with much attention to detail. The setting is amazing with stunning views. The villa is spacious and we particularly liked the mesh on the windows which let the air in, but kept the flies out! The terrace room is lovely, a real feeling of being outside, whilst being inside. We bbq'd a couple of nights and the butcher in the village provided us with superb quality meat which was cooked over wood generously provided by Martin. We ate at the table by the pool watching the fire flies, truly magical.

One evening Ally with a local chef cooked and served us a magnificent meal, in fact it was more like a banquet - scrumptious! We had a great day out with Martin on a boat trip around the Gulf of Poets, which we all enjoyed tremendously. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Ally & Martin, who were always on hand to answer questions and offer advise. We were a party of 7 adults and would have no hesitation in recommending Montecastello.

Bliss at Montecastello

By Rachael S, UK on 04-Jun-2017

Stunningly beautiful and tranquil, with majestic views.

Montecastello is a lovingly renovated castle. Martin and Ally's attention to detail has kept the character from an Italian idle with all the convenience of a modern villa. Couldn't keep the children out of the pool, they would have given a 10 stars out of 5! As adults we loved the garden room, alfresco dinning and grounds to wander around in. The property is well maintained, clean and Ally and Martins, local knowledge and advise was invaluable. We stayed a week which didn't do all the local area justice, we hope to be back again.

Thank you.

Martin and Ally were more than terrific hosts, providing lots of information and guidance when needed. The house and grounds are just magical, beautifully relaxing and peaceful, but also close enough to the coast and to Lucca, Pisa and La Spezia… and of course, the day on the boat was wonderful. We hope very much to be back soon!

A Wonderful Stay!

By Simon H on 28-Sep-2016

It was such a treat to stay at the 'Castello!' It's so beautifully and tastefully furnished throughout - such comfy beds and loved the Italian linen sheets! It really was everything we hoped for and the setting is truly idyllic- peace and tranquility pervade.

Ally and Martin are great hosts and it was fantastic to have them on hand so we could really get an insight in to the area and make the most of our holiday. The boat trip around the gulf of poets will be a lasting memory for us all- thank you Martin!

Also lots of lovely places locally to explore and the bustling riviera is within easy reach so the property has the best of both worlds. Another highlight for us was having the Montagne Verde Restaurant so close - such a stunning setting to sit and enjoy local, seasonal and scrumptious food.

Montecastello is top notch and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

If you want to relax, to be in the middle of nature, to wake up with the only sound of birds and the town church’s bells this definitely is the place! We spent 2 amazing weeks in beautiful Montecastello, a little private castle in Tuscany! Everything was just perfect from beginning to end.

Beautiful house, secluded setting, lovely views.

By Lydia M on 12-Jul-2015

We stayed at Montecastello for 2 weeks - 3 adults and 2 teenagers. We loved the ample space within the house; 4 beautiful bedrooms, 3 gorgeous bathrooms, and a variety of different living rooms and seating areas for relaxing, reading, dining, watching DVDs. Our favourite was the 'indoor' terrace - a lovely terrace with wonderful views.

We stayed for a week at Montecastello - what a wonderful location! The villa is beautiful, finished to a fantastic standard and ideally placed for a relaxing stay.
