This charming and elegant country house is located on a beautiful hillside within an exclusive and private gated borgo. Il Ciliegio also has its own private gardens and a large secluded terrace with westerly views down to the Tiber valley for beautiful sunsets. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the landscape of Umbria, Italy’s green heart from the terrace, pool and gardens.

Only 9km from the historic city of Todi and within easy driving distance of many of the major cultural centres of Umbria and Tuscany: Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Siena, Montepulciano, Gubbio, Spoleto. Todi commands a stunning hilltop position 400m above sea level and has been continually inhabited since the pre-Roman Etruscan times.

The Villa is easily accessible from Perugia airport (40mins) and from both of the Rome airports (1hr 45mins). In keeping with its traditional roots, the stone-built house has been expertly restored to create a luxury home with plenty of original features. Terracotta tiles, chestnut beams and partially exposed stone walls retain an authentic country feel, whilst the modern kitchen, bathrooms and comfortable furniture add a more contemporary edge to make your stay even more luxurious. The large and secluded terrace offers a shaded 6-seater dining table for al fresco dining and there is also a BBQ included.

Enjoy relaxing and taking in the views of the valleys below on the luxurious and sumptuous outdoor furniture with large parasol. A beautiful place to watch the sunset with a glass of local wine. The borgo itself comprises only 11 properties, an Astroturf tennis court and a large swimming pool with loungers. There is a caretaker who lives onsite all year round and tends to all of the communal areas. He is generally available for any questions you may have about the house or the borgo.

5 go exploring

By Jennifer W on 26-Aug-2019

We really enjoyed our stay. It was a perfect base for exploring Umbria - in a beautiful setting. Tony and Gwen provided a comprehensive information pack, which we used in conjunction with the other travel books and leaflets in the villa. The veranda looked over the surrounding countryside giving us fantastic sunsets every evening. The pool was perfect, although shared with the other villas - it felt very private and kept 3 teenagers well entertained. I would highly recommend this property!

So relaxing!!

By Alex Anderson on 24-Aug-2019

Where do I start? To sit down on the beautiful patio furniture with a glass of wine watching the sunset is such a great way to relax after three days of sightseeing in Rome. The kitchen is well thought out with everything you need to live there comfortably and cook. The house is so comfortable and welcoming, every little thing has been thought of. All the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are of a very high standard. There is a good variety of books and games to occupy you while you lounge in the sun on the patio. The pool area is lovely, each villa has four sun beds assigned to it, the fact the pool isn’t heated is irrelevant, it’s so nice to dive in and cool off, the views from the pool over the valley are amazing. We visited Todi and spent the morning exploring the little narrow streets and enjoying coffee and pastries in the square. On our last evening we went for a meal in one of the restaurants in Todi recommended by Tony and Gwen. The restaurant overlooked the valley and the views were lovely, the food was even better. The book that Tony and Gwen send out was invaluable, every little detail of our trip was thought of. The 2 hour drive from Rome was straightforward with the directions for satnav taking us straight into Asproli. The directions from the book took us down the track to the gates to the accommodation. The nearest supermarket is about 20 minutes drive and has everything you need. I bought everything for the Weber BBQ from here and had several BBQ’s while we were there. The roads in the area are very windy, the roads aren’t in the best condition and sometimes what is a tarmac road will become a white gravel country track and then come out onto a main road after a few miles. We can’t thank Tony and Gwen enough for sharing this beautiful property with us, we will definitely come back again!

Heel fijn, mooi en modern huis met prachtig terras, uitzicht en zwembad

By Sanne Draai on 10-Jul-2019
