Slice of Umbrian paradise

We stayed here for a week with family in September and it was absolutely fantastic. The house it self is amazing - five great sized en suite rooms, the kitchen was huge and really well designed (which was good as it becomes a focal point for everyone getting stuck into their inner Italian chef). Great verandah overlooking a beautiful Umbrian valley as well as a large lounge and dining room too. The garden is really big and child friendly (with a playground) and of course the lovely heated pool which was in constant use
The house is very well kitted out and ideal for kids. Anna (the owner) has thought of everything - from kids gates to travel cots to baby monitors and a buggy. Means we didn't have to bring anything which made for a much easier trip.
Montone itself is real postcard Italy. Beautiful scenery surrounds the hilltop town (which is a nice walk from the house) with fantastic little restaurants and cafes (and a bakery which became our home every morning - one of the best we've experienced in a few trips to Italy)
Make sure that you get some of the local chefs to come in for a night or two to cook at the house as they're incredibly talented and make for really cool evening.
My only gripe is I wished we had stayed another week! We'll certainly be heading back to this amazing house and couldn't recommend it enough.
Perfect family retreat in Umbria

Where to start! We were so fortunate to stay in Anna's incredible house just outside the beautiful town of Montone. Every morning we strolled up to the town to have a our morning expresso and collect delicious pastries from the local bakery. During the day we either lounged by the heated pool, visited historic towns in the area (I highly recommend Spello) or cooked in Anna's incredible kitchen. The house is spacious and well designed to host families - we just felt so comfortable and at home. Anna suggested to us that we organise a few of the local chefs to come in and cook for us - thankfully we did!!!! Their meals were some of the best food we had in Italy. I truly can't fault our stay at Casa Baccianella - it was perfect! We are already planning our next visit and can't wait to show the area to more family and friends.

This was a family week in Italy and we could not have asked for a better lacation nor a better villa. From the youngest grandchild to the oldest grandparent, we were all perfectly catered for in the villa. Nothing was missing: the owner obviously has put a huge amount of effort in ensuring that every need is taken care of. There are beautiful linens on the beds, the showers are excellent. Nice towels, hairdryers, good toiletries. There is underfloor heating and fans.
The kitchen is amazing. There are beautiful outdoor areas and they are furnished very well. A perfect holiday destination.
