Description

A spacious, comfortable house with private pool, and views over the bay of Fornells. The house is set in private gardens, backing onto the countryside. There are several shady terraces for siestas, eating out in the hot midday sun or in the evening, or just for getting away for some quiet time. From the terraces there is always something interesting to watch -sailing boats, windsurfers, kite surfers, a large variety of yachts and motorboats, the fire brigade plane swooping in to scoop water out of the bay, together with the amazing bird life including osprey, flamingo, heron, egrets, cormorants and many more. The house is 2 minutes walk from the sea shore, on the outskirts of the tranquil but prestigious village of Ses Salines, a hamlet of mostly private houses, orientated towards sailing and boating, with a shop and 2 restaurants. The village has a safe walking and cycling path to the charming fishing village of Fornells, less than one mile away, where there are a variety of shops, waterfront restaurants and bars, regular markets and a choice of watersports,- sailing, kayaking, wind surfing, paddle boarding, diving, and waterskiing. You can also hire bicycles here. The only golf course on the island is just 10 minutes away by car. The fabulous northern beaches are just 5 to 20 minutes by car. An area of special ornithological interest is just 5 minutes away by car. There are many historic sites on the island, some very near to the village.

The house is cleaned prior to your arrival. Linen is provided including bath and pool towels. There is air-conditioning in all the bedrooms and bathrooms. The ground floor consists of 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a utility room and an extra drinks fridge/freezer in the hall. There are two twin bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathrooms. There is one twin bedroom with a shower and basin. There is another twin bedroom and a small bunk room which share the third bathroom. There is a utility room with washing machine and a rotary washing line outside the front door, hidden behind a fence. The ground floor leads out onto the pool terraces, with views over the countryside beyond.

. Upstairs the living area is open plan, with a sitting room, dining room and kitchen as well as another loo. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, hob, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, microwave, food processor, and a special water filter under the sink so that you can drink the water from the cold tap This open plan space leads out onto two shaded terraces, one for dining and one for sitting, both with spectacular views.. There is an additional outside staircase down to the pool area or up to a further sundowner terrace above this floor with even more spectacular panoramic 360 degree views.

The pool area has 2 terraces, one covered and a lower uncovered terrace surrounding the pool, beyond which there is open countryside, Steps lead down from the pool to the gravel drive where there is space for several cars to park, and a lawn. The property is surrounded by a low, typical Menorcan wall and a high oleander hedge on most sides.

When I was young, my parents had a farmhouse in the south and I lived and worked in Menorca for 7 years. When I married, my husband and I returned to Menorca every summer with our children. We always went to Ses Salines as my oldest friend lives there, and the south had changed and become too busy for me. Back then, the streets of Ses Salines were dirt roads, with very little traffic, and my young children were used to roaming the streets, playing with the local children. They all learnt to sail and windsurf with the local school and had wonderful, active holidays. Eventually we bought some land, and built the house ourselves. We put the living rooms upstairs to benefit from the wonderful views, whilst the bedrooms lead out to the pool. It is our second home, and we spend as much time as we can there throughout the year. Now our children are adults and have young families themselves, they also spend time there when they can.

5/5 Excellent villa in a great location This is a lovely villa set in the quiet area of Ses Saline’s near Fornells. It is set on a slight hill so benefits from the breeze With the living/ dining area on the upper floor and the bedrooms on the lower floor which is also air conditioned. Great pool of a size that suits the villa. It is very well equipped for dining and there is a good dishwasher. A super villa all round 8/6/2022 at 4:24 PM

Fantastic villa in a great location

By Simon G on 30-Oct-2023

5/5 Fantastic villa in a great location This beautiful villa is a second home to its owners so unlike other villa''s we''ve visited in Menorca, we felt at home within minutes of walking through the door. We found the villa to be really clean and comfortable with high quality sturdy furniture and furnishings. The layout works really well over two floors with bedrooms and pool on ground floor, kitchen & living areas and terraces on the first floor. There''s ample space inside and out so even for a large family there''s always somewhere to find a quiet moment. The cooking facilities and utensils are excellent (especially the BBQ), wifi fast and good coverage throughout. The pool is good size and clearly well looked after, the villa was cleaned halfway through our stay. Location is great for access to the famous seafood restaurants in Fornells (just a mile or so away), the North Beaches, and numerous water sport activities. The village itself small and friendly with a great local grocery store a few metres away and a good BBQ restaurant. Julia was a brilliant host providing insider info on restaurants, day trips, and anything else we needed. In all, highly recommended! 10/30/2019 at 3:50 PM
