LA VILLETTA is an old two-storey building which may be used as a single house, but is more often used as two separate, fully self-contained apartments, one on each floor, with separate entrances (when used as a single house a door at the foot of the stairs may be unlocked). As they are more or less identical, this advertisement applies to both/either of the apartments, and the calendar only shows when both apartments are booked - on all other dates one of them is available. Prices are for one apartment, for both double the fee and deduct 10%. We are happy to negotiate special prices for longer bookings. Our website (see above) gives lots of detailed information about La Villetta and the surrounding area; also about the neighbouring cottage that we own, called La Capanna (sleeps 6).
ACCOMMODATION: Each apartment sleeps three people comfortably and there is room for a fourth. Each contains three rooms:
1) A living/dining room, with kitchen area. It includes a table, dining chairs, comfortable basket chairs, a double sofa-bed (upstairs one very comfortable, downstairs one less so, but good for children) and a book case. In each of the kitchen areas there is a cooker, a refrigerator a sink with hot and cold water and plenty of cooking and eating utensils, etc.
2) A large bedroom with a double bed, a folding single bed, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and bedside cabinets.
3) A bathroom fully equipped with hot water, showers, hand basins and WCs (also a bidet in the upstairs bathroom).
Both apartments have air-conditioning and central heating.
THE LARGE GARDEN, has superb views up into the tree-clad mountains. There are shrubs, lawns, herbs for cooking, pergolas, tables for outdoor eating and a BBQ. There are and lots of quiet corners, chairs and sun loungers, and much of the garden is not directly overlooked by any other houses. The downstairs apartment opens directly onto the garden, and residents of the upstairs apartment only have to walk a few steps round the house to access the garden via a little path.
THE LOCATION is ideal for people who want a base from which to explore the beautiful region of Tuscany. It is about 35 kilometres south-east of Florence, at the foot of the Pratomagno mountains, not far from the Chianti area of central Tuscany. It is in a hamlet called I Tallini, close to the village of Cascia and about 2 kilometres from the country town of Reggello. The A1 motorway and the Rome-Florence railway are only 8 kilometres away, giving easy access to the great cities of Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Pisa, Lucca and Perugia. Numerous smaller towns and places of interest, such as San Gimignano, and several famous beauty spots, are easily accessible.
SHOPPING: The village of Cascia has plenty of shops, including a modern supermarket, a chemist, a bank, two restaurants and four bars! Reggello has shops for more specialised requirements, a travel agent, good restaurants, and a market on Saturdays. Excellent wines can be bought either from shops or directly from local producers. The local olive oil is often regarded as the finest in the world (really!!). Nearby Figline Valdarno offers even more extensive shopping facilities, and for people interested in finding a real bargain in the world of "haute couture" the nearby shopping centre, 'The Mall', is home to factory outlets of Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, and other top designer labels.
RESTAURANTS: Within a few kilometres there are at least six really good restaurants, and numerous others only a little further afield, ranging from the simple but delicious, to more sophisticated and expensive. There are also several local bars, some of which also serve light meals.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT is good, with both buses and trains (local and mainline) in easy reach. This makes it easy and quick to get to Florence, Arezzo and many other interesting places that are further away such as Perugia or even Rome.
INTERNET access is available via a 4G connection. This can be rather slow and unreliable, but we find it adequate for emails and simple browsing.
SWIMMING POOLS: We do not have our own pool, but there is a beautiful, large open-air pool with lawns and sun-loungers only 1 km away in the village of Cascia, and another about 2.5 km from the house, in the village of Vaggio, which is ideal for visitors with small children.
WALKING: The area is a walker's paradise, as the surrounding mountains are full of amazingly beautiful and easily accessible walks. There are also less

CYCLING: We have two mountain bikes for the use of guests. there are also some helmets, pumps etc.
LOCAL SPORTS FACILITIES include horse riding, tennis and fishing.
There is a Tourist Information Office in Reggello, open in summer months.
