Villa Helios

By Tom Brooks on 19-Sep-2020

Lovely villa with stunning views and great pool. Set in good grounds and our stay coincided with ripe figs.Remote enough to feel like you're on your own but close enough to good shop and restaraunts that if relaively fit and healthy you can walk to. Beach a bit further still and a 'good' uphill walk back
- lovely beachside bar/restaraunt. Villa owner great to deal with - good directions and info. Kefalonia a stunning island and lovely people. Best recommendation I can give is that we'll look to go back! (Take beach towels with you and if you intend to cook at all there's no salt/pepper etc etc not sure if removed by cleaners due to covid) There's diswasher but need to buy tablets and we had to buy salt as it had run out. Washing machine too but didn't use. You'll need to empty your bin(s) but loads of roadside 'council' bins so no great problem. Just the holiday we needed!!!!

Dream holiday

By Claire on 02-Aug-2020

This was our first time on the island and will certainly not be the last.
The villa was just amazing and is in a stunning location. The instructions to the villa are very precise and allowed us to find it straight away, in the dark. The villa and pool exceeded our expectations. It has everything you need, and more. We enjoyed picking the lemons for our drinks and grilling the dogs on the bbq.
We stay in villas twice per year and this is one of the best; the pool is stunning and was kept immaculately clean by the management company during our stay.
We visited many of the local beaches- all of them are beautiful. We also chartered a boat on two different days to explore the coastline- a real highlight. We managed to explore the whole island in the car. I certainly recommend this but watch the goats on the roads!
You can walk down a little track opposite the villa to the local restaurants. We did this most evenings at about 9.30pm and always had amazing dinners.
Can’t wait until we return again!!!

This was our second visit to Villa Helios, this time we took our parents who totally fell in love with the property. Its a great family size villa with plenty of space, amazing views of the coast and across to Zante and a wonderful infinity pool. We especially like the fact that every room has its own balcony and a choice of outside eating areas.

Argostlii is not far away and we enjoy shopping in the market, we found some great butchers to buy meat for the BBQ and you can buy your fish straight off the fishing boats

There are plenty of good beaches close by our favourite being Kanali, it's always quiet and shelves very gently, although it's a fairly steep path down to it. We also love to go swimming from Karavados beach, the water is crystal clear and you can relax in the beach bar afterwards

We could easily spend all in time close to the villa, but it is worth exploring the Island, we loved Assos & Fiskardo & Agia Efimia are very pretty, also St Georges Castle is not far away.

Long lazy lunches around the villa pool are our perfect day, this is the best villa holiday we have had , we will definitely be returning.

Stelios & Denise are fantastic, very helpful and Denise's cooking so good, we will return just to have her Lemon Chicken again.

Superb Villa with everything

By Alan M on 31-Aug-2018

Wonderful views, relaxing location. We stayed with 4 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of room. The Villa has everything you need with good air conditioning when it is really hot. Restaurants within walking distance and 10 minutes in the car to the beaches. Highly recommend and we would stay there again!

Beautiful villa with lovely pool and stunning views

By Sue C on 16-Jul-2018

My partner and I took my daughters and their boyfriends to Kefalonia. It was our first visit to this beautiful and friendly island and we weren't disappointed. The villa was secluded with a fantastic view over the sea to the island of Zante but just a short distance from a well stocked supermarket and 10 minutes from a very nice local beach with 2 tavernas. The villa which was not overlooked had generous sized bedrooms all en suite and a big pool and we're looking forward to returning.

Gorgeous spacious villa in secluded spot with lovely views

By Karen H on 06-Aug-2017

This lovely villa is very well cared for with an attractively furnished open plan downstairs full of light. Two nice sized doubles, both with balconies and two twin bedrooms downstairs for the children. Lots of storage too and bath towels provided.

We spent most of our time outside where there were sun beds for all and in the glorious pool which is beautifully clean.

You need a car to get to local taverna, bakery and shop which is very thoughtfully stocked with lots of English food as well as Greek. It is walkable but a bit of a struggle in the heat. The local Stamna taverna was ideal and authentic.

There are lemons, oranges, fig trees among others in the grounds which we loved being able to pick.

The photos on this site do not quite do it justice so it was a lovely surprise to arrive and find it exceeded our expectations.

Paul the owner was very helpful, and easy to communicate with. There is masses of information in the villa for things to do but all the children wanted to do was hang out at the villa!

Comfortable and spacious villa with stunning views

By David B on 22-Sep-2015

Comfortable and spacious villa in beautiful quiet location with wonderful large infinity pool with spectacular views. Both villa and pool immaculately maintained by a charming and helpful local couple. There is a brilliant barbecue in the garden and there are several excellent tavernas serving delicious Kefalonian food in the locality. You would need a car to get around ,but roads are quiet and traffic-free.

As a party of 8 adults this villa offered everything we needed, plenty of space and so well equipped that we never ran out of glasses!

The view was superb we all spent many happy hours in the pool just admiring the view, the BBQ was used and the evenings spent just chilling out were great. We found we could walk to a couple of restaurants and a bakery which made life easy.A must is to try Denise's Moussaka it was fabulous.

We would highly recommend this villa the booking was made easy by Paul's quick replies and detailed instruction's for our arrival.

The villa itself could not be faulted in respect of equipment and comfort. The view was amazing and the outside space generous with a lovely mini orchard where one could pick a fresh lemon to go in the obligatory g & t before dinner. We made use of the bbq on two occasions and enjoyed the cooking of Denise on two evenings (the mousaka was delicious). Both Denise and Stelios (her husband) were easily available on the rare times we needed their services. You will definitely need a car to enjoy the island and we would recommend a) visiting Sami and anti samos nearby and b) taking the ferry to Lixouri from Argostoli.

Our only disappointment was the lack of choice of restaurants within walking distance of the villa. Having said that we had a wonderful holiday and will highly recommend Villa Helios and the very helpful owner Paul to all our friends and family.

This villa is truly wonderful place to stay. Eight adults stayed and we never felt we were on top of each other at any time. The views are stunning and It has everything you could possibly require for a very relaxing and comfortable holiday. We used the BBQ a couple of times which was fab, although we could have done with a another shelf to put the Coles on but that didn't make much difference to the enjoyable evenings. It was so well equipped it even had a nice array of CD's to cater for different tastes. The pool was cleaned while we were there early mornings but no one was disturbed. We did wonder if there were any bat and ball games or lilos's around which would have been useful, but if you need some they are available at the Mini Market close to the villa. Denise who is the cleaner and is very nice and helpful cooked for us one night which was very nice too (we had the Lemon Chicken). I would advise getting a car. I can thoroughly recommend this villa.

I found this villa on this website and I was impressed with price, facilities and bedrooms that the villa boasted. The owner kindly let us travel in on a different day as we were coming from Wales and the only flight is on a Tuesday. I must say the villa blew us away. It was better than expected, with a large lounge and kitchen area and each of the bedrooms separated into its own corner of the house which gave lots of privacy and space.

The decor is homely and sumptuous, the kitchen is well stocked and the grounds are lovely too.

I would strongly recommend getting a car with the villa as Lourdas beach is just a five minute drive and is the closest "area" with lots of supermarkets, tavernas and a gorgeous shingley beach with a few sun beds too.

Our family cannot say enough good things about Villa Helios, the lovely Denise and Stelios (who look after the villa), the very helpful Paul ( who I gather is the owner) and just how much of a wonderful time we had staying here.

The villa has everything you could need and I will definitely be returning in the future, as soon as my purse will let me!!!

Villa Helios

By Mette on 04-Dec-2013

Our stay at Villa Helios was a truly amazing and unforgettable experience. Kefalonia is a beautiful place and the Greek people we encountered around the island were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful.

The tranquility and peace of the villa itself in its beautiful grounds and fantastic setting was exactly as described and more than we could have wished for. The villa and its grounds are maintained to an exceptionally high standard and Denise and Stelios extended a very warm welcome to us showing great kindness throughout our stay. The moussaka prepared by Denise on our last evening was absolutely delicious and we wished we had taken the opportunity to sample more of her meals during our stay.

Myrtos beach is a must visit place with the colour of the water like nothing you could imagine. It was brilliant for swimming although younger children would find the waves too powerful. It would be advisable to take a picnic however as the snacks at the beach hut were disappointing. Assos is small and very beautiful and a lovely place to lunch and laze. Fiskardo was by contrast much more upmarket with lovely shops and places to eat but quite pricey. Nice to gaze at the yachts and we enjoyed feeding the fish in the harbour!

We particularly enjoyed swimming at Kanali where the beach was sandy, utterly peaceful and unspoilt. Lourdas beach was great for good value water activities - boat hire from the 'Escape Club' hut on the beach was the best value for boat hire that we could find. Melisani lake was interesting to see but was not good value for money with the boat trip into the cave lasting no more than 15 minutes.

The younger members of our party found the nightlife in Argostoli very enjoyable with a great many bars to choose from. Skala however we found disappointing being aimed it seemed at British tourists and somewhat lacking in traditional Greek atmosphere. Car hire we discovered was available from Lourdas at a cheaper rate than from the hire companies operating at the airport.

Our stay at Villa Helios was absolutely wonderful from start to finish and it is most certainly a place that I would have no hesitation in recommending to others and in returning to.

Perfect Holiday

By John Hampshire on 04-Sep-2013

Perfect Holiday
5/5 Stayed Jun 2012
We stayed as a family of 5 adults and one 2 year old and were blessed with a week of near perfect weather. The villa is if anything better than the description and photos imply with ample space. The house, grounds and pool were spotless and well-maintained with good quality indoor and outdoor furniture. There are fantastic views across the bay and out to sea from the patio and bedrooms. The owner was friendly and helpful, the booking process was easy and our deposit was returned promptly.

The location is good with travel along the coast road being very easy - but you will need a hire car. Instructions for finding the villa were clear and apart from overshooting the turn-off by 400m, we had no problems. However, don't lose the instructions as you will definitely need them. The villa is down a shared narrow track that varies in quality from rough to reasonable concrete and the trip to the local bakers (limited range, but very good) on the main road is about 1km.

A decent, sandy beach is about 2km down the hill - walkable but a long climb back up if you have young children. Even at the beginning of June the water was warm enough to swim in.

We mainly ate in, but the nearest restaurant down towards the beach is to be avoided. Lorraine's, about 5km away, was much, much better. Life was so easy and pleasant at the villa that we hardly saw anything of Kefalonia but what we did see was pleasant but not picture postcard, mainly because most of the island was destroyed in a 1953 earthquake.

We booked this as a special family holiday and it exceeded expectations for young and old alike. The villa is superb and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Fantastic Villa

By Jules, Devon on 04-Sep-2013

Villa Helios was everything we could have wanted and more! The location was perfect, perched on the side of the mountain with 180 degrees of coastline and dramatic mountains behind. It was very hard to get out of the infinity pool!

The Villa was a fantastic size for 8 people - with 4 spacious bedrooms all ensuite and all a very high standard.

Denise and Stelios who look after the property were brilliant - you can order Denise's home cooked food - which was delicious.

The location of the Villa was great as very near to some fantastic tavernas and beaches - some of the best on the island.

We gave the property 10 out of 10 and will definitely be going back!
