Description
Domaine La Flotte is an estate situated on the ´Col de La Flotte´ where you have a beautiful view of the Pyrenees, it is an oasis of quiet, wooded hills and meadows.
La Maisonnette is situated on a short distance from the main building and from the stables. It has 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC, a well-equipped modern kitchen (with electric/gas cooker, electric oven, fridge/freezer, micro-wave, coffeemaker, dishwasher, washing machine) and a living room with TV/SAT. The large doors lead to the sheltered terrace, surrounded by a hedge and – on one side – trees, behind which you will find the pool. At some distance are the stables, with entry on the other side.
You can make magnificent walks around Domaine La Flotte and enjoy the unspoilt nature or explore the surroundings walking or on a mountain-bike.
You can make use of the (shared) swimming pool (round, 6 m) or go to one of the nearby lakes: Lac Montbel or Lac de Puivert, where you can swim, surf, sail or hire a pedalo. You can hire canoes/kayak nearby (river Aude) or visit an adventure park.
Banks, shops, bakery and good restaurants within 10 mins at Chalabre, 20 mins at medieval Mirepoix and 25 mins at Limoux (markets on Friday).
Limoux, famous for its carnaval and its blanquette is also just 30 minutes away and Carcassonne about 40 minutes.
Other interesting sites: Gorges de Galamus, cathar castles Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Puylaurens etc.
The Tour de France passes close by every year.
The Mediterranean coast is just about an hour driving and also a day trip to Andorra or to Spain is possible (about two hours driving).
Golf course at 25 km (18 holes) in Carcassonne.
River activities: canoeing, rafting and kayaking and river swimming in the Aude. The area around Quillan and Axat is ideal for white water rafting, canoeing and canyoning.
A climb up the Pech de Bugarach is worth doing! Or a visit to Rennes-le-Château!
