A wonderful place to stay
By Laura H on 08-Oct-2018
Just returned from a lovely long weekend at this property and can’t wait to book again. As soon as you walk in you can see it is immaculately clean, well cared for and homely. The owners have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay as hassle free as possible and are extremely accommodating. The location was perfect for us as we were visiting Cebeebies Land for my son’s birthday, and the village is lovely too, with a nice pub, a park and spectacular scenery. This property is a real find in a truly beautiful part of the country and we are all very much looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

Lovely well equipped cottage, perfect for families, clean, safe and really well equipped (microwave, hair dryer, iron and board, I forgot our daughters night light, they even had one there, everything has been thought of!) Nice, flat rear garden for the kids to play in. Lots of board games for kids, which they loved. We didn’t explore much of the local area, as we used the cottage as a base for Alton Towers (10 mins drive away), but it looks beautiful.

Absolutely loved staying here. The house is beautiful, equipped with everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. The location is perfect for walking in the countryside.
Home away from home!
By Rosalind H on 01-Jan-2018
THIS WAS TRULY A HOME AWAY FROM HOME. the children and ourselves had a lovely stay and felt safe and relaxed.it is very clean and has a good size pretty garden. Everything is supplied from umbrellas and torches to children and adults toys and games. Inez was really accommodating for the baby and put up baby gates and supplied a highchair. we enjoyed using the childs bike in the garage (there are lots of adults bikes aswell which we didnt get to use) the village is very nice and has a really good playground a few mins walk away. the football field opposite was also a good place to run around.. walks are from the doorstep!!! with beautiful countryside but we usually went out in the car and there was plenty to do. I would highly recommend for any age who enjoys countryside.
Gorgeous, very clean and in a great location

I'm writing this review as we are loading the car to go home, and thinking that we wish we could stay a little longer; the cottage has been such a lovely place to stay. It is so clean, which relaxed me straight away! I usually have to clean places we stay as they're not usually up to my crazy standard, but I didn't need to do anything - I felt completely comfortable. Inez was a perfect hostess; she was extremely flexible and helpful when accommodating our arrival and departure times with a little one. She made us feel very welcome at her holiday home. We would love to come back to visit one day, as it is such a beautiful area. We enjoyed Dovedale and Alton Towers during our weekend stay; both were an easy, and very pretty, drive from the house.

Beautiful location, stunning property, comfortable beds and sofas and a very safe garden. Everything we look for when holidaying with the children - although if highly recommend to friends and familial of all ages. Don't hesitate it's the perfect holiday house!

Great cottage with everything you need, very clean and felt like home. Lovely owner, great contact throughout booking. The cottage is in a great location for visiting Alton towers, a short 15 minute drive through lovely countryside and you're there. The welcome pack in the cottage is very helpful, we used it to find other local attractions and nearby towns and villages. We visited leek which is a lovely place with lots of quirky shops to look around. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to stay in this area, you won't be disappointed. Hoping to make a return journey.

fantastic house well located for activities around the Peak District
By Dean R on 05-Aug-2017
Great house, well equipped and maintained, and village location. Only a mile from the start of the Manifold Track, a lovely rural, car-free, route of about 8 miles long. Great for walking, cycling, or running. Very friendly and helpful hosts, and with bikes available to borrow, allowed us to explore the immediate locality. Local pub, Ye Olde Crown Inn, just down the road had a lovely Sunday Carvery, and good ale. Ilam is a short drive away, well worth a visit, and a walk. Waterhouses is conveniently situated between Ashbourne and Leek, both lovely towns to visit. One of our main reasons for stay was proximity to Alton Towers, and at around 6 miles away, was very handy. Easy drive into the beautiful Peak District, and drive between Leek and Buxton was very picturesque.

Couldn't fault the cottage and the weather we had was great so were able to sit outside in the lovely enclosed garden after busy days out exploring the beautiful Peak District. The owner was very helpful and informative. Would highly recommend this cottage and would have no hesitation in re-booking.

Perfect for a family holiday
By Tracey L on 15-Aug-2016
Holidaying with 3 teens, this was the perfect base to visit Alton Towers and lots of other interesting places. The cottage is modern and well equipped with just about anything you could think you'd need. Impressed by the quality of the equipment. Owners exceptionally helpful and friendly. 5 adult/teen bikes and 1 little girl's bike available. We cycled part of the Manifold Trail which starts in the village. Leek is the nearest town for supermarkets, with Aldi and Sainsburys being the larger ones. Lots of options to eat out. We had a wonderful fortnight stay at a very reasonable cost.
Portland Place - Lovely cottage

We had a lovely stay in this modern cottage. It is beautifully presented, very clean and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful and left some milk, tea, coffee and biscuits as a nice welcoming touch. Games, DVD's and bicycles available at the cottage and a nice garden for the children to play in at the end of the day. The cottage is in a good location for exploring lots of Derbyshire; lots of walking, National Trust and English Heritage properties to visit. We had a wonderful time and would like to return. We would definitely recommend staying here.

We spent a very happy Christmas in this excellent cottage - with a warm and seasonal welcome from Inez and Hannah. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well and thoughtfully equipped, and is ideal for walking (on local lanes and trails if the fields are muddy - the owners have supplied plenty of maps and guides). Ashbourne and Leek are nearby for supermarket shopping.
