A nice scenic beach in Bembridge, with just 10 mins to either Ryde or Sandown which in my opinion are the best dog walking beaches anywhere to be found. The property isn’t a show home so perfect with pets. A nice balcony in the master bedroom with sea views to enjoy the afternoon sun with a glass of wine!
A week in September
By Simon on 30-Sep-2020I’ve been travelling to the IOW for many years and like most always returned to the same holiday camp. This time we decided to rent a house rather than a static caravan. I can say it was a excellent choice! Having dogs it was so much easier having your own garden rather than to lead walk if they wanted to pop outside. The property is large and just 2 / 3 minutes walk to the Bembridge beach. At night with the bedroom windows open you can even hear the Sea when the tide is in. The only things I would say to be mindful is while the garden is secure, both access doors to the property are via the same side gates, and on a few occasions the gate was left open by the postal deliveries. This would give your dogs and children access to the road, although the road is very quiet. As we found it easier to use the conservatory as our main access to the property we had to make sure we checked each time. We were also unable to get the central heating to work. There may of been something I was doing wrong, but as it was our last evening didn’t bother us much. Having the restrictions with COVID-19 meant we weren’t met on arrival which would of normally taken you through how things worked. That said, we are booked to stay again next year and would recommend the property to one and all. A big thanks to Island Holiday homes who were very helpful when we contacted them every-time.
Holiday at Gatehouse
By Ruth on 16-Nov-2023We have stayed at this property before and it’s a lovely place to stay and spacious. It’s dog friendly aswell so it is ideal for us. The double bed in the back room could do with being a bit higher as anyone with mobility issues would struggle to get on and off it. The location of the property is a short walk to the beach and it was lovely to take our dog on there (tide permitting) and have a walk up to the lifeboat station. It was a good base for ventures around the island. Would definitely come back to the Gatehouse
Good holiday
By Ruth on 06-Oct-2019A lovely holiday was had by all of us (4 adults and 2 dogs). The location of the Gatehouse was brilliant, the beach was about 200 yds walk away, which was great to get up and and go out with the dogs and they are welcome on that beach all year round.The week we took our holiday the weather was brilliant all week. The Gatehouse was a comfortable place to stay, it had a large kitchen, the front bedroom was lovely with a balcony, en suite and a walk in wardrobe/dressing area and the conservatory (which was a good size) was where we spent most of the time when we weren't out and about. There was a couple of down sides to the house, it could have done with a line or rotary line outside in case you washed clothes and wanted to hang them outside, there was a line up in the garage but it wasn't very long. We couldn't get the WiFi working no matter what we tried, it ended up with us using a lot of data on our phones etc. and the bushes at the side of the house could have done with cutting back to allow easier access. All of these things considered though we had a great holiday and the accommodation was good, nothing stopped us having a good time.

By Damian on 29-Dec-2019Good sized 3 bed house (2 doubles, + 1 twin singles), 1 bathroom, 1 ensuite shower + 1 downstairs toilet. All very nice. Good kitchen with everything. Washer and dryer in garage. nice big conservatory, small garden. parking for 3 cars on front. sky sat tv in lounge. wifi running approx 8mbs moments from beach and crab&lobster pub. (although spinnakers pub a bit further away better in our opinion) house just feels nice. very pleasant.
