Description

If you need a place to unwind and reset, Otter Lodge provides you with ample opportunities; whether it be simply opening the curtains after a good night's sleep and watching the birds, or sipping your morning coffee on the private, south-facing patio watching the river gently flow by only a few feet away from your garden.

Your lodge is equipped with all the features you’d expect from luxury accommodation: beautiful linens, well-equipped kitchen with Bosch appliances including a dishwasher, lovely Port Meirion Botanic Blue crockery, gas central heating, two comfy leather settees and an easy chair, a solid oak dining table which seats six and a bright and airy open-plan kitchen/dining/living area. There's also a washing machine in the utility room.

From your master bedroom you can look out over your private garden area towards the river and listen to the tranquil sound of the water through your window. Relax in the comfort of a king-size bed and have a delightful night's sleep in fragrant, freshly-laundered, crisp linen with no street lights to disturb you. You'll have a spacious dressing table, drawers and a built-in wardrobe as well as an en-suite shower room featuring a large, luxurious shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail with towels provided for you. You might choose to sleep in the second large bedroom at the opposite end of the lodge. This also overlooks the river and has a comfortable king-size bed and an even larger walk-in wardrobe, dressing table and drawers. This bedroom shares a family shower room with the third bedroom, which is a bright, welcoming twin room with windows to the river and a Velux skylight as well as a wardrobe and drawers. The family shower room has a large shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail.

Your private patio has a picnic table and chairs, parasol and Weber BBQ for your exclusive use during your stay. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a sun-downer with friends at the end of the day.

Some guests find that they don't leave the site as there's plenty to do with walks around the lake, bird-spotting in the hide, choosing your favourite picnic spot or escaping with a book and a bottle of wine. Perhaps you'll recapture your inner-child on the rope swings, have a game of boules on the court or even fish for salmon or trout in the river. There's a fire pit in the grounds, which guests are welcome to use, which is another perfect spot for meeting up and sharing special times together.

If you are exploring further afield, you'll have the perfect base. Rivermead Cottages are about half-way between Bodmin and Liskeard. Bodmin Moor is 5 minutes away by car, and pretty harbour villages like Charlestown and Polperro can be reached in less than 20 minutes. There's a host of attractions within easy reach such as the NT gardens at Lanhydrock, the Eden Project, Golitha Falls and Lantic Bay, where you can join the South West Coast Path. You'll find a wealth of information leaflets and suggested walks in the Rod Room.

Wonderful holiday at Otter Lodge

By J Richardson on 28-Aug-2017

Situated in beautiful and meticulously maintained setting, Otter Lodge offers the perfect accommodation for a family holiday. Rivermead is perfectly located for visiting many other parts of Cornwall. Kevin and Majorie were most welcoming and provided us with a wonderful hamper to start our holiday off. The lodge was immaculate and was equipped to the highest standard and catered for all of our needs. A wonderful holiday which we will definitely repeat soon. 5.0 / 5.0

A wonderful break

By The Colemans on 24-Jul-2017

We absolutely loved our stay at Otter Lodge. It is in a beautiful location which was extremely peaceful and well placed to get to both the north and south coasts. The owners had thought of everything, the house was brilliantly equipped and there was lots of information to hand off places to go and eat and shop etc. We loved our stay. 5.0 / 5.0

Lovely accommodation in a wonderful setting

By Corbin Family on 08-Jul-2017

My family and I recently stayed at Otter Lodge and had an amazing time. We were very lucky to have beautiful weather and had most of our meals outside on the patio, making use of the barbecue supplied. Everything in the lodge is of really good quality including the outdoor seating, supplied with cushions and a parasol. The position of the Lodge is fantastic as it is very private compared to the other properties on Rivermead. Although the other properties are nearby, Otter Lodge is a little further down by the river and is not overlooked, it also has its own little lawn. We had sun all day on the patio. The grounds are amazing too. One day it was too hot to go out so we all went down to the lake (in the grounds) and had a picnic under one of the many trees. The property was spotlessly clean with absolutely everything you need. The owners Kevin and Marjorie have thought of everything and are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this property. 5.0 / 5.0
