Description

If you need a place to unwind and reset, Otter Lodge provides you with ample opportunities; whether it be simply opening the curtains after a good night's sleep and watching the birds, or sipping your morning coffee on the private, south-facing patio watching the river gently flow by only a few feet away from your garden.

Your lodge is equipped with all the features you’d expect from luxury accommodation: beautiful linens, well-equipped kitchen with Bosch appliances including a dishwasher, lovely Port Meirion Botanic Blue crockery, gas central heating, two comfy leather settees and an easy chair, a solid oak dining table which seats up to six and a bright and airy open-plan kitchen/dining/living area. There's also a washing machine in the utility room.

From your master bedroom you can look out over your private garden area towards the river and listen to the tranquil sound of the water through your window. Relax in the comfort of a king-size bed and have a delightful night's sleep in fragrant, freshly-laundered, crisp linen with no street lights to disturb you. You'll have a spacious dressing table, drawers and a built-in wardrobe as well as an en-suite shower room featuring a large, luxurious shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail with towels provided for you. You might choose to sleep in the second large bedroom at the opposite end of the lodge. This also overlooks the river and has a comfortable king-size bed and an even larger walk-in wardrobe, dressing table and drawers. This bedroom shares a family shower room with the third bedroom, which is a bright, welcoming twin room with windows to the river and a Velux skylight as well as a wardrobe and drawers. The family shower room has a large shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail.

Your private patio has a picnic table and chairs, parasol and Weber BBQ for your exclusive use during your stay. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a sun-downer with friends at the end of the day.

Some guests find that they don't leave the site as there's plenty to do with walks around the lake, bird-spotting in the hide, choosing your favourite picnic spot or escaping with a book and a bottle of wine. Perhaps you'll recapture your inner-child on the rope swings, have a game of boules on the court or even fish for salmon or trout in the river. There's a fire pit in the grounds, which guests are welcome to use, which is another perfect spot for meeting up and sharing special times together.

If your selected date isn't available in Otter Lodge, why not have a look at our other properties from our one-bedroom Oaktree and Kingfisher Cottages, to two-bedroom Bluebell and Squirrel Cottages, our other lodge (Owl Lodge) which also sleeps 6, and our Old Farmhouse, which dates back to the 1750s and sleeps up to 7 guests?

If you are exploring further afield, you'll have the perfect base. Rivermead Cottages are about half-way between Bodmin and Liskeard. Bodmin Moor is 5 minutes away by car, and pretty harbour villages like Charlestown and Polperro can be reached in less than 20 minutes. There's a host of attractions within easy reach such as the NT gardens at Lanhydrock, the Eden Project, Golitha Falls and Lantic Bay, where you can join the South West Coast Path. You'll find a wealth of information leaflets and suggested walks in the Rod Room.

Welcoming atmosphere, very clean, comfortable and well equipped lodge. The grounds are extensive and provide lovely walks with a variety of birds and other wildlife to see. Overall, a great place to relax and unwind.

Beautiful location

Beautiful location and very vibrant. Peaceful. Liked the rural setting being close with nature. Grounds well maintained. Although rural, still got shops that are easily accessible.

A beautiful property

By Tomes on 30-Aug-2024

Thank you for the wonderful experience of staying in your beautiful property this August. I would have been more than happy just pottering about. As it was a family holiday I had to make the effort to explore the surrounding area, which was lovely as well, sharing with my grandchildren.

Wonderful accommodation

By Howes on 21-Aug-2024

We needed accommodation that had a flexible start & finish date and you were able to offer that flexibility. Otter Lodge was wonderful accommodation for our family of 4 and in a beautiful location; quiet and close to everywhere we visited. The lodge is a perfect base and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. The grounds are stunning.

Personal touch and beautiful grounds

By Urquhart on 26-Jul-2024

We were asked what we liked about our stay: the variety of flowers! The personalised touches e.g. bookmarks, the toy otter and themed artwork. The beautiful grounds, especially the tree swing. The VERY busy bird feeder. The lovely crockery. The personal touch.
