A great place to stay for the week
By Richard on 31-Jul-2020
We had a lovely time staying in Blackberry cottage. It has a well equipped kitchen which we used for most of our meals (I'm not sure I can think of anything we couldn't find!).
The rest of the cottage is also great, with a very comfy bed and various board games in the lounge. At the back there is a beautiful garden (with table and chairs), which helpfully has direct access to the play area. The cottage had pictures and paintings from around Bude and was all in a seaside theme.
It is a short drive to numerous excellent beaches, several of which have life guards. The nearby village is 10 mins walk, it has a pub and delicious homemade jam can be bought from St Olaf's cottage!
All in all we had a great time, Bude is a lovely town to discover and I would happily come back to stay at Blackberry cottage again.
Great stay at blackberry cottage
By Louise B on 24-Jul-2020
This was a very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Everything very well organised during this difficult time. Nice touch included was scones, jam and clotted cream. We all had a very enjoyable holiday. Thank you from the Burgess family.

My wife, two sons (4yrs, 6months) stayed here and had a lovely time. The cottage is great, with all the things we needed. The pool was wonderful and the park was brilliant. Close to bude but still in peaceful countryside made it the ideal setting. We'd definitely come back again.

We enjoyed our stay - and Katherine was a really helpful host. We have two boys 6 and 5 and they had a great time in the play park and the pool and table tennis. The place was a good size and had things we needed.

A wonderful spot, loads to do and so much help given. Perfect for families and the play garden in the back was an absolute dream for the little ones.
Year 7, Yep Its Really That Good!
By Debbierose_uk on 11-Apr-2019
Where to begin, I was going to say there aren't many places I've been back to 7 times but actually this cottage is the only place I've ever been back to 7 times!! Everything is just so easy, from booking the cottage through to arrival you are kept fully informed by Katherine the owner and any queries, questions or requests are responded to quickly and efficiently. The cottage itself is a spacious and spotless 2 bedrooms property with enough space for everyone including a delightful teenager who has connected to the WiFi before we've even got the first suitcase in . Everything you need is in the cottage so you really only need to bring clothes and swimsuits for the cracking pool. There is also a laundry which at first I thought no way I'm on holiday, but actually over the years we started to bring less clothes as they are industrial washers & dryers and are super quick! To the back of the cottage there is a beautiful garden and a further garden area with a children's playground which for families with younger children is great as its all enclosed.
Given we have stayed in Bude so many times now we always find new things to do. This year we went llama Trekking which was great, watched the Railway Children at the Minack open aired theatre that's cut out of cliffs near Lands End, visited a Sculpture Park, played 18 holes of football golf etc Everyone has a happy place and for us, this is Bude and Blackberry Cottage
By Sandy on 23-Feb-2019
Wonderful stay in the cottage. Great location for access to all the amazing beaches around Bude, brilliant facilities for our kids (4 & 6) with the swimming pool a highlight and a great local pub for food and a drink after long days. Katherine a very efficient and attentive host. We’ll be back!
By Eleanor on 29-Nov-2018
The location and facilities here are wonderful. The play areas, swimming pool and laundry block are all really handy and the cottage is well equipped with all necessities. Katherine is a great host and the attention to detail in the welcome pack and advice about grocery deliveries really handy. Having essentials on arrival for a cup of tea or coffee is always appreciated. A great place for families in a lovely part of Cornwall, we enjoyed our stay.
By Charni on 16-Nov-2018
A well laid out and presented cottage within its own little community. Everything we could need as a group of 4 plus a baby. We especially enjoyed having the warm on site indoor pool, with its modern changing rooms. We made the most of some lovely weather too and walked into Bude spending the day on the lovely beaches and enjoying the local area, with a cheeky stop in the pub on the way back! Will definitely return.
Blackberry & Bramblewood

We booked both cottages for the last week of August. A blast of proper Cornwall before the grandchildren started back to school. My 3 daughters,6 grandchildren (3 to 11), husband and me.........plenty of room for us all. The hot weather ended the weekend we arrived! Pouring with rain our first day. But, we had a great time. Using the swimming pool, the games room (table tennis, pool table), the kids play area everyday. Plenty of kids board games etc in each cottage too. Everything so well maintained. The houses perfectly clean on our arrival. Renee and the ‘gardener’ so friendly and helpful. All the beaches we needed close by and beautiful. We love Bude........eldest grandson managed to hit his target of a pasty a day (me too I think!). Lovely garden space and big play area. Our grandchildren loved ‘hanging out’/chatting/clambering/ playing hide and seek out there. Had the weather been better we would have spent lots more time eating outside........tables etc all provided in the lovely garden. Lots of safe outside space for the children. As we left our 11 yr old said he’d really loved the holiday and hadn’t missed his ‘ds’ (computer games?) at all. Brilliant!!! Thanks, also, to Katherine (owner) who was so efficient, friendly and helpful in all her communications re booking etc.

Second time at Blackberry cottage Bude and just like the first time every thing you need is in the cottage, Always clean and a pint of milk waiting in the fridge. A friendly site with friendly staff. Weather was great all week and Bude is so nice and friendly and relaxing. The cottage at night is so quiet and the black out curtains make for a restful night. It’s so Cumfy that some evenings we just stayed in. So many brilliant places to visit and to dine out.
By CyncoedJohn on 19-Jul-2018
This is our second visit to Blackberry and we were blessed with fine weather for the duration of our week. The cottage has a modern feel and besides the things you'd expect it has everything to hand including childrens games, videos, books, a bedside radio, an iron and loads of other stuff like a windbreak for the beach which seemed a good thought. Everything in the cottage was in good working order and all was clean and tidy, so no problems there. The double bed and duvet were perfect.
The holiday cottages have a rural setting, yet you are so near to Bude. The Preston Gate pub is a short walk away which has a live band on a Friday evening and a "Fish Friday" cheapy menu for Friday dinner time, where booking at peak times is advised. On the site there is a heated swimming pool with modern, clean changing facilities. There is also a small games room with table tennis and a pool table
Bude has the attraction of having numerous beaches to chose from, some of which, you may need to know, prohibit dogs. There is also much to do and see in the surrounding area. We spent a day at Crackington Haven where the beach is pretty well sandy, but check tide times as at high tide you can't really surf or bodyboard as the rocks are covered. Car parking is just across the road at £5 all day (although there is a cheaper one on entering the village at £3 all day). There's a beach side cafe, public toilets and also a pub serving meals. We took lightweight folding chairs and just sat in the sunshine on the beach and watched the world go by and it was so pleasant.
I would like to thank the owner for being so helpful and communicating everything promptly by email which really helped. Hopefully this will not have been our last trip to Blackberry.

We stayed in Blackberry cottage and loved everything about our visit. The swimming pool, games room and outdoor play area kept the children entertained for hours. They also loved the board games. The cottages are in a great location. We are at the local pub which was lovely and we visited the beach nearly everyday of our holiday. We will definitely be returning!

Fabulous stay at Blackberry cottage. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 very young children. Blackberry offers a warm, welcoming, safe and fun environment for us all. There's plenty to do and that's just within the cottage and it's grounds. Blackberry has its own private garden with a play area attached, within a few steps there is a heated indoor pool which was a huge hit with us. The surrounding scenery is beautifully peaceful and gives that holiday feel. The cottage is very clean with a full range of cooking utensils and appliances. We eat in but nearby there is a range of takeaways and restaurants. Bude is highly recommended and literally on your doorstep. Such a short stay for us and will be returning again this year. Anyone thinking of booking. Just do it, you won't be disappointed.

Great venue, lots of things for the children and adults we especially enjoyed the pool and entertainment room, Blackberry lodge was brilliant plenty of room and lots of board games for the rainy days. Also a nice Cornish pub just minutes walk up the road that serves great food and nice ales.

So spoilt here. Stayed in both cottages numerous times over many years. So clean, loads of little extras, warm, cosy, quiet, relaxing. We love it. Huge indoor pool. Games room. Laundry room. Lovely walks. Near the beach. (Stayed in Blackberry & Bramblewood Cottages)

Clean holiday house with well supplied kitchen. Clean modern bathroom with great constant hot water. Well stocked book shelf, especially the children's books which we appreciated. While house stocked with everything you could want in your holiday house from BBQ to hairdryer to coffee press. Lovely big garden with access straight to the adventure playground.

We had a brilliant holiday. Situated right out in the countryside, so peaceful yet near to all the amenities and amusement parks. Cottage very clean and comfortable with everything you need. Made good use of the games room and pool. Thank you so much Kathrine, we look forward to booking with you again
By CyncoedJohn on 23-May-2017
The cottage is situated within a group of holiday cottages at Poughill on the edge of Bude. It has a rural feel to it, yet you are so near all that Bude has to offer. There is a pub about ten minutes walk away (The Preston Gate) which has a live band on a Friday evening and a "Fish Friday" cheapy menu for Friday dinner time. The site has a heated swimming pool with modern, clean changing facilities. There is also a small games room with table tennis and a pool table. We found the cottage to be clean and comfortable, and provided everything that we wanted to hand, including wifi, tv, dvd's and books. The owner was very helpful and communicated promptly to any queries which was really helpful. All in all we would thoroughly recommend and would return.
Fantastic Property & Holiday!
By Debbierose_uk on 07-May-2017
I would like to say a big thank you first of all to Katherine the owner of Blackberry Cottage, as every part of the booking, arrival, the cottage and the pool was fantastic which made for a smashing holiday The cottage itself is spacious and spotlessly clean as is the pool which even when the weather is hot a nice dip in the pool early morning/night is always a winner! Having a teenage daughter, we were happy to see that the WIFI worked really well which kept the whole family happy The garden at the back of the cottage is lovely and has a barbecue so we had our first barbi of the year as the weather was great!! By the end of the week we were truly sorry to be going home and looking at all of our holiday photos we had a cracking time which is why we've already booked to go back next year!!!

I've stayed in both Blackberry and Bramblewood and both are excellent. They're furnished with everything you could need; the kitchen is particularly well-equipped for self-catering (and there's tupperware/cling film/foil so you can prepare packed lunches for day trips which is very handy). The heated on-site pool is brilliant and a 30 second walk away, and there's a table tennis table, laundry area, and outside areas for children to run around in. Parking is right next to the cottages. The Preston Gate Inn in Poughill is within walking distance (good for a pub meal out or just drinks) and Bude is a very short drive away. The cottage has always been immaculate on arrival, with added bonuses such as complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits. Wifi was fine in the cottage and speedy in the pool building. The cottages are a great location for having a countryside feel while simultaneously being very close to Bude's beaches, supermarkets, etc., and the owners provide a visitors' book to share comments about days out, as well as various guides and pamphlets to help plan day trips (good places to go include down the coast to Port Isaac/Padstow etc, to Dartmoor, and to the Eden Project, all of which can be reached within 1.5 hours). Overall highly recommended.
