Briar Patch - Still one of the best dog-friendly cottages we've stayed in.

By Jane S on 18-Jul-2020

Just returned from a wonderful week in the amazing Briar Patch at Trevalgas.
The complex is lovely with well spaced cottages with plenty to do in the form of swimming pool, games room, outdoor play area and a woodland walk for the dogs!
Briar Patch itself has everything you could want for a happy stay. DVDs and masses of books for all the family to enjoy if the weather isn't so good. Outdoor seating and a BBQ in the enclosed garden if it is. Even a bowl and treats for the dog!
We didn't have to worry about the dog wandering out into the garden on his own as he was perfectly safe in the lawned fully enclosed garden.
Inside the furnishings are all contemporary and comfortable. The attention to detail is wonderful with lovely prints by local artists. The beds and large 3-seater leather sofas are extremely comfortable and everything has been thought about, with the owner asking each guest for feedback on anything which could make a future stay even better. We even had a personal delivery of beer glasses!
We were the first to be allowed to visit following the Covid-19 shutdown but found that Katherine the owner and Renee the caretaker had taken many steps to reduce the risk of spreading the virus and make everyone feel safe and as at ease as possible.
There are so many lovely places to see, things to do (surf school, Segway adventure, paddle boarding on the sea pool, kayaking on the canal, rock pooling and amazing walks) and to eat around Bude that there is no real need to go further to the busier we

Comfortable base to visit northern Cornwall

By Dbat2 on 20-Mar-2020

ery well appointed cottage at Trevalgas with lovely warm indoor pool to unwind in. Welcome touches such as milk in the fridge ready for tea. Good level of equipment in kitchen together with a helpful file including OS maps of the area. Bude is a lovely town to explore (and walk on the cliffs) and there are lots of National Trust areas nearby to visit. Plus a local Coop small supermarket in nearby village. Very relaxing stay.

Briar Patch: Amazing pet-friendly cottage.

By Jane S on 19-Mar-2020

Lovely stay at the newly renovated Briar Patch. It was lovely to find a dog-friendly cottage where you don't have to compromise on quality because you have a dog. Indeed we weren't even charged extra for our four legged friend. 3 lovely clean, cosy bedrooms, beautiful open plan lounge and kitchen. 2 bathrooms and a large enclosed garden over-looking the play area. If that's not enough, there's the swimming pool, table-tennis and pool table. So close to so many lovely beaches too. Even the weather was pretty great! We've been truly spoilt.

If you don't want to bring your dog, the friendly owners Katherine & David have 2 more neighbouring cottages onsite (pictured beyond Briar Patch).

Briar Patch

By Nichola L on 31-Oct-2019

We stayed here for a week, 3 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. The cottage was spacious enough for us all to fit in with the added bonus of having 2 bathrooms which meant it didn't take an age for everyone to get ready! The kitchen is really well equipped, in fact the whole cottage is. It was a lovely touch finding a welcome card, some shortbread and doggy treats on our arrival.

It is located so close to Bude/Widemouth and it's beautiful beaches which is handy for surfing. Other places such as Boscastle and Tintagel are just on the doorstep too.

Having an 11 year old with us meant that the games room with its pool table and tennis table provided the entertainment (and competition!). We also had the use of the swimming pool, often to ourselves.

We really enjoyed our stay at Briar Patch, Tevalgas Cottages. I can definitely see is returning.

Briar Patch

We stayed in Briar Patch for a week. I must say this place is excellent. The accomodation is great and has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped and the layout really works well. 2 bathrooms is also a really big bonus, one being a walk in shower the other a bath/shower. Having young children we also found the facilities to be great. The swimming pool had toys for the children and we were often the only ones using it. The playground on the large play field was also brilliant. Everything you need in one place.

Great bungalow in a lovely peaceful location, very dog friendly with a safe and secure garden for him to run around in. The swimming pool and play areas were a real bonus, especially as we virtually had the pool to ourselves everyday! We shall definitely be back

Great stay at Briar Patch cottage

By Gbalt on 24-Jul-2019

We stayed in Briar Patch cottage in July. The cottage is very spacious and nicely furnished with well equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and a 4 slice toaster . There were tea bags and milk provided to start with as well as the kitchen towel, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets. Two bathrooms were well appreciated by our family. Our youngest son loved the swimming pool, table tenis and the selection of DVDs in our cottage. I loved books. We had a wonderful week with great weather and enjoyed both the cottage and the countryside. Definitely to recommend especially to the families.

Briar Patch

We had a fabulous stay here, to stop any doubts, you need to book this accommodation!! As a family of 4 with 2 children under 5 we could not fault anything. The accommodation is outstanding, plenty of space with every detail considered for your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil you can imagine and it's layout within the accommodation works perfectly. The holiday site is perfect. This a small complex with a swimming pool, games room and large play area attached to a field, this makes the whole service from the host through to cleaning staff personal and exceptional. Bude itself is close by and has plenty to do, we mainly utilised the beaches however there is bike hire, lots of places to eat, crabbing, a park and even a free fete (during our stay) with a bouncy castle and games. However we always returned to Briar Patch each day with enough time for a swim in the pool. An amazing and special place for us.
