Description
Cancleave has been in the family since 1962 and over the winter of 2020/21 it underwent complete reconstruction to create a modern, energy efficient and comfortable property. The property occupies an incredible location in beautiful North Cornwall, on the coast road between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay.
Standing in around half an acre of lawned garden bordering the South West Coast Path, it commands stunning views across Bude Bay to Lundy Island and inland all the way to Dartmoor.
The perfect place to unwind, relax and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this stunning coastline. Situated on the South West Coast path between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay, Cancleave sits in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The stunning new build provides a beautiful base for your stay in North Cornwall.
The views here will simply take your breath away. The vista which stretches across Bude Bay as far as Lundy Island changes its moods with each season.
There is a raw beauty to behold whether its under scorching summer sun or during a wild Atlantic storm. Whichever it is you will be transfixed.
The South West Coast Path is waiting immediately outside the garden gate. Turn left towards Crackington Haven or right towards Bude, both reachable in around 1 1/2hrs. There are several shorter loops incorparating the coast path and beautiful wooded valleys, one being just acorss the road from Cancleave. Check out an OS Map or ask your hosts Pat & Celi for advice.
Inside you will find a beautiful social living/dining/kitchen area that is the hub of the house. Bi-fold doors open out onto the coast side patio perfectly combing the inside and outside areas. A second patio at the back of the property provides an alternative alfresco dining area sheltered from any onshore breeze.
When it’s finally time for bed, there are two double and two twin bedrooms to choose from, each room cosily furnished for a sound night’s sleep. All but one of the bedrooms features its own en-suite, and there’s a separate family bathroom that means nobody has to queue for that all-important morning freshen-up.
The property benefits from underfloor heating throughout together with a cozy woodburning stove in the living area. If you ever tire of the views there is a 50″ smart TV on hand to provide the entertainment with preinstalled Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV and BBC iPlayer.

By Seth on 18-May-2025Just an AWESOME place. There were 8 of us (family celebration) and the house was super comfortable and easy. Pat was so great in answering our questions and pointing us in the right direction. Super location. And the views are just spectacular. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed at. A+++
Cancleave
By Harminder on 23-Feb-2025We had an amazing stay at Cancleave in Cornwall! The property is beautifully maintained, with stunning sea views that made our mornings truly special. The home was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything the 7 of us needed for a comfortable stay. The location is fantastic—with immediate access to the coastal path. Cancleave felt peaceful and secluded, yet still conveniently close to Bude and local places to eat. Patrick was incredibly helpful and responsive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a seamless experience from the start to end of our stay. Thank you for checking in with us and being so helpful. Would highly recommend Cancleave to anyone looking for a relaxing escape in Cornwall. We can’t wait to come back!

By Keith on 30-Nov-2024I was looking for a space for 8 for my mothers 90's birthday. This space was ideal. All on the same level - no steps to anything (except the garden and cliff walk - that my mother was not going to take anyway). The house was spotless. We wanted a special meal to celebrate mums 90th - the host recommended a local chef that would come in a prepare dinner for us. A great idea that went down very well with all - Kit provided an excellent meal. In the 4 nights we had at this location we had a sunny day for our arrival, we woke up to snow the second day, rain the third day and a named storm the day we left. The place was warm and cozy - no issues due to the extreme weather at all. The log burner kept the lounge kitchen area very warm. You will need a car to use this location - we had three and we had ample parking. Great location - great host.

By Erin on 26-Oct-2024We just had a wonderful stay at Cancleave. It was perfect for our family of five, and our dog. It’s not a big place but it is very cleverly laid out and everything was beautiful and clean. The kitchen was well equipped which suited us as we did a lot of cooking. The views from all sides were lovely, ocean and farmland. Patrick was a pleasure to deal with. Very responsive and caring.
