Overview
Description
Crags Cottage offers wonderful self catering accommodation in Catacol, the smallest village in the dramatic northend of the Isle of Arran. We are nestled in an amazing setting, offering outstanding views and glorious sunsets across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre.ACCOMMODATION
Our cosy cottage is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Crags Cottage is a fully self-contained property attached to the main house of The Crags close to the shore, overlooking the Kintyre Pennisular. The house was built in 1870 by a Glasgow Merchant and the cottage run as a shop until the mid 20th Century.
You can regularly spot lots of species of birds and sea life such as seals, otters, porpoises and dolphins. Red deer roam along the shore, red squirrels around the garden and even bats at dusk! There is always something to see from the windows, the ever changing view, the wildlife, yachts and fishing boats out on the water.
A well-equipped kitchen comes with an electric oven and hob, fridge, washing machine and microwave. You can relax in the cosy lounge which has a sofa, table and chairs, Smart TV plus a DVD/Blue ray player with a good choice of Dvds. There are also plenty of books and maps about the island too. The log burner will keep you toasty in the chillier months whilst admiring the majestic sea views from the lounge window.
Taking care up the narrow stairs you will find a lovely bedroom with twin beds and another wonderful sea view. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, a towel radiator and bathroom cabinet.
Heating is provided by Electric Storage heaters and the log burner in the lounge.
All electricity, logs, bed linen and towels ( except beach) are provided along with a hair dryer, complimentary toiletries and basic necessities for bathroom and kitchen.
Outside there is a garden with garden furniture. A great place for relaxing to admire the glorious sunsets.

By Peter & Christine on 23-May-2026Jean & Dave, Thank you for a very welcome week's break. We've never been at this time of year before & amazed at the colours of spring & the very noticeable early flowers of some plants eg fuchsia. A very relaxing week, shame it wasn't two!
Beautiful cottage
By Cei and Bri on 20-Sep-2025So sad to be leaving, can't believe our week on Arran has flown by far too quickly. Weve been so fortunate with the weather and to discover a new walk at Thunderguy, right on our doorstep. Thank you Jean and Dave for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. Wow! The otter put on a good show this morning with the added bonus of 3 dolphins passing by.
