Overview
Description
Crags Cottage offers wonderful self catering accommodation in Catacol, the smallest village in the dramatic northend of the Isle of Arran. We are nestled in an amazing setting, offering outstanding views and glorious sunsets across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre.ACCOMMODATION
Our cosy cottage is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Crags Cottage is a fully self-contained property attached to the main house of The Crags close to the shore, overlooking the Kintyre Pennisular. The house was built in 1870 by a Glasgow Merchant and the cottage run as a shop until the mid 20th Century.
You can regularly spot lots of species of birds and sea life such as seals, otters, porpoises and dolphins. Red deer roam along the shore, red squirrels around the garden and even bats at dusk! There is always something to see from the windows, the ever changing view, the wildlife, yachts and fishing boats out on the water.
A well-equipped kitchen comes with an electric oven and hob, fridge, washing machine and microwave. You can relax in the cosy lounge which has a sofa, table and chairs, Smart TV plus a DVD/Blue ray player with a good choice of Dvds. There are also plenty of books and maps about the island too. The log burner will keep you toasty in the chillier months whilst admiring the majestic sea views from the lounge window.
Taking care up the narrow stairs you will find a lovely bedroom with twin beds and another wonderful sea view. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, a towel radiator and bathroom cabinet.
Heating is provided by Electric Storage heaters and the log burner in the lounge.
All electricity, logs, bed linen and towels ( except beach) are provided along with a hair dryer, complimentary toiletries and basic necessities for bathroom and kitchen.
Outside there is a garden with garden furniture. A great place for relaxing to admire the glorious sunsets.

A superb week
By Sharon & Paul on 26-Apr-2025A superb week which has surpassed every other of our 7 visits! Glorious sunshine, amazing sunsets & wonderful starry skies . Highlights were walk to the summit of The Castles and over the top of Holy Isle. Love to watch the antics of the red squirrels, watched an otter enjoying its catch on the shore & a seal pup basking on a rock. Great to see the Lochranza Inn doing well. Thanks to Jean & Dave for sharing this magical place.
A superb week
By Sharon and Paul on 26-Apr-2025A superb week which has far surpassed every other visit we have had (7 times). Glorious sunshine, amazing sunsets and wonderful starry skies . Highlight was the walk to summit of The Castles followed by walking over the top of Holy Isle. We love to gear the flap of the red squirrel feeder & watch their antics around the garden. Saw the otter enjoying its catch on the shore & also a seal pup basking on a rock. Heartfelt thanks to Jean & Dave for sharing this magical place.
Fantastic week at Crags
By Tracy and Gary on 02-Nov-2024Fantastic week at Crags, the weather great all week. Amazing wildlife spottings all week. Antlers locked together by stags, a very close up otter experience at Fallen rocks, 3 in total including Mum and cub. We're back again in August, and can't wait.
