Wake up to the gentle sounds of the waves and stroll down to the beach via the private resident’s slipway. The main bedroom enjoys stunning views of the sea from its own balcony and there’s a glass-fronted decking area outside which overlooks the beach. The living spaces feel bright and airy thanks to big windows and glass balcony doors letting in plenty of that beautiful coastal light. You’ll find the dining table perfectly positioned to enjoy the view and you can put your feet up in the living room and take it all in from the comfort of the sofa. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, however, on sunnier days, you might want to take the cooking outside to the barbecue.
Downstairs, there’s a garden/games room with a utility room, ideal for storing your beach gear. This leads out onto the decking and seating area overlooking the beach. The glass balustrade shelters you from any sea breeze while not getting in the way of that fabulous view. Lie back on one of the recliners or get something sizzling on the barbecue.
There are two bedrooms, perfect for a small family or two couples. The main bedroom has an en-suite and a balcony overlooking the beach. Open up the balcony doors in the morning and enjoy your morning coffee in bed with a spectacular view. The other bedroom can be set up as a twin making it perfect for children or the beds can be joined to create a king-size.

Head along the path in the other direction and you’ll stumble across Porthtowan, another small Cornish fishing village, famous for its surfing and gorgeous sunsets.
If you dream of being thirty seconds from the sea, this is the place for you. Can you imagine a more perfect property for a beachside holiday?
Exceedingly private, you access the beach via a private slipway exclusively for residents of Smuggler’s Cove. With private parking directly outside, this is a uniquely premium property, in a glorious beach side location. Sleeping four, the cottage has two bedrooms.
As you would expect, one bedroom has an en-suite and a balcony overlooking the beach/sea, with a luxurious picture-postcard view for wave watching. You are close enough to the ocean here to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. The other bedroom, ideal for children, has two single beds which can be joined to make a king-sized sleeping space.
The lounge, kitchen and dining room all enjoy spectacular sea views along with the garden/games room downstairs which has an adjoining utility room with W.C. and laundry facilities. Just off the kitchen is a study area with sleeping arrangements for two dogs. Downstairs is a garden/games room with utility room, plus a kitchen with adjacent storage area for pet sleeping or seaside equipment. Outside is decking and a seating area overlooking the beach, so it is easy to choose which time is best to go for that romantic seaside walk. Location: Portreath is a small resort with a very narrow harbour located about 5 miles north of Redruth. It was once a busy port, importing coal and exporting copper but now only sheltering the occasional fishing boat. The original loading ramp can still be seen in the village. Copper ore was transported from mines, in the Chacewater area, using horse-drawn wagons, and was shipped by the ton to Swansea in South Wales for smelting. The ships would return, laden with Welsh coal. The harbour entrance was quite hazardous and tremendous skill must have been required to navigate sailing ships into the port. Some of the ships carry well over a hundred tons of ore.
The pretty, sandy beach has a stream running down to the sea on the left hand side. It is a popular family beach which, like many beaches on the north Cornish coast, is popular with surfers and in particular bodyboarders who turn up in force at high tide on big swells to surf the harbour wall, or Vortex as it is known.. The beach is cleaned daily during the season and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, but only before 10am and after 6pm in July and August
There are several shops, cafés and pubs in Portreath. The village has a very friendly atmosphere and is also extremely dog friendly
Some of the old tram-roads, used for transporting ore from the mines, have been made into cycle paths and it possible to cycle from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast. Details can be obtained from Tourist Information.
This is good walking country with beautiful views from the spectacular cliffs One good walk is along the North Cliffs southwards to Bassets Cove, about five miles there and back. Although the walk is strenuous in parts, there are lovely views, lots of wild flowers and various sea birds. North to Porthtowan is a longer walk of about eight miles there and back. The cliffs in the area are made up of slate and sandstone and are subject to erosion, so care should be taken when walking the coastal path.
There are various sports and leisure facilities within a short drive of the village. These include indoor swimming pools, squash, badminton and outdoor bowls. There are six local golf courses, one within a mile, and several centres for horse riding, two with indoor facilities.
Tehidy Country Park is about a mile and a half from Portreath, situated in a valley of one of the upper tributaries of the Red River which flows into the sea near Gwithian. It is a beautiful country park of around 250 acres. Most of the park is woodland and there are around 9 miles of nature trails. It was formerly the estate of the Bassett family who made a fortune from tin but is now owned by Cornwall County Council and is open to the public all year round. Within the park are also bridleways for horse riding and tracks for mountain bikes. There are several ponds and a lovely lake with swans and various kinds of ducks.
