Description

Modern Comforts in a Unique Luxury Barn Conversion

Mealhouse
Once a grain store and cow barn [hence the name], 'Mealhouse' is now a tasteful barn conversion with contemporary furnishings, but still retaining many of its original features. Light spacious rooms are surrounded by enclosed gardens and patios on several levels, with an excellent BBQ for those warm summer evenings. Situated on Hallagather Farm, there is a wonderful path through the fields and woods to the beautiful sandy beach at Crackington Haven.

The living accommodation is on the first floor level with glimpses of the sea. The dining-room French doors open onto a balcony and stone steps leading down to the lawn and garden. The large living room has a nice airy feel with a modern fitted kitchen area at one end with high beamed ceiling and lots of windows. The seating area with newly installed woodburner is furnished with comfortable sofas, coffee table, digital TV, DVD player and lots of space.

There are three large bedrooms each furnished with a double and single bed which can comfortably accommodate six to nine people though smaller parties are very welcome and reduced rates are offered [on application] in low season. One bedroom is on the same level as the main living rooms and has a cloakroom en-suite and far views to the sea.

Two further bedrooms are downstairs and each room has doors opening onto a sheltered courtyard which is bathed in morning sunshine and is a lovely area for a quiet coffee. One bedroom has an en-suite shower room. The spacious main bathroom on this level fitted with an impressive claw-foot bath and a full size shower cubicle. The rooms all lead off a hallway with a main exterior door onto the walled garden.

Further facilities included at The Mealhouse include:

Why would you want to go anywhere else?

By Stephen on 10-Apr-2020

Imagine your own rustic dwelling in the middle of the countryside. The Mealhouse is tastefully furnished and with all the comforts you could want. The house will swallow 3 couples easily, with 3 more single beds if there's a group of 9. On top of this, you have all the peace and quiet you could ever need. No noise from passing cars and beautiful dark skies at night. In the day you have a choice of 2 secluded gardens, depending upon the position of the sun. If you're not afraid of walking up hills, Crackington Haven has a good pub too, but the dining area in the house is so light and sunny, it makes you wonder why you'd want to go anywhere else.

We loved our stay at the Mealhouse - a beautiful place with lots of character in a lovely location. Lots of interesting places to visit and stunning scenery nearby.

Amazing house

Amazing house! Really spacious and lots of natural light. Rachel was an amazing host and was very responsive in the lead up and during our stay. She went above and beyond in providing us with information and recommendations about the area.
