Overview
Description
Nutcombe Barn is our largest cottage and is the other half of a semi-detached Grade II listed barn conversion, next door to Cider house (to the right of the main picture). The perfect cottage for larger families sleeping up to six in three en-suite rooms, with stunning views across the valley.Entry to Nutcombe Barn is from the rear at ground floor level into a large open plan living space with high vaulted ceiling. Visitors are immediately drawn to the French Doors out onto the Juliet balcony where the views across the valley are absolutely stunning.
The lounge area is equipped with three large leather sofas, strategically placed to admire the view or for socializing with family and friends. All the furniture is solid oak to match the English Oak flooring throughout the ground floor. There is a 48" Smart TV plus DVD player.
The dining area has a large oak dining table with six chairs with over-head lights for perfect meal times. The table can easily seat eight or even twelve if taking Nutcombe Barn with Cider house as one larger property (see below)
Leading through from the lounge there is a very spacious beautifully equipped kitchen with pale blue units and solid granite worktops. Everything you need for a great self catering holiday is supplied including a dishwasher and microwave and enough crockery & cutlery for 12 people. You may find yourselves arguing over washing up though as the views from the kitchen sink are glorious.
Off the open plan living space there is a small cloak-room as well as one of our king size bedrooms. Kitted out with a wrought iron king size bed with very comfy pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam topper, oak bedside cabinets and wardrobe, this bedroom has lovely views out over the dog garden and hills beyond. Conveniently there is an en-suite shower room with large walk in shower with rainfall head and massage jet system offering luxurious showering.
Being a bank barn conversions the other two bedrooms are located on the lower ground floor off the hallway where you will find the washer/dryer.
The master bedroom suite has a wrought iron king size bed and oak bedside cabinets with a walk in wardrobe; so plenty of space to store your holiday wardrobe. There is also a large en-suite shower room with an extra large walk in shower again with rainfall shower head and massage jet system' perfect to unwind after a hard days holidaying! The master bedroom has French Doors leading onto the south facing sun terrace where you will find a dining area for alfresco dining as well as a couple of sun loungers where you can sit and admire the view with a glass or two.
The other bedroom on this floor is set up as a large twin room with our statement memory foam/pocket sprung mattresses, solid oak bedside cabinets and chest of drawers and a good size built in wardrobe. The Zip link beds can be joined to create a luxurious Super-King, making Nutcombe Barn the perfect property for three couples sharing. Again this room has it's own en-suite, this time with a full size bath with overhead shower; so a perfect place to have a good soak or to give the kids a good bath after a hard day at the beach. There are also French doors onto the terrace from this room.
Nutcombe Barn is lucky to have two outside seating areas. As well as the courtyard at the back of the properties, there is also a BBQ area next to the front door where you will find a large family size BBQ for your convenience.
Visitors with dogs or children can use our large grassed garden adjacent to Nutcombe Barn to exercise their dogs or just play games and admire the stunning view. We also have a 3 acre field you are welcome to use.
For larger family gatherings, we have the option of opening up between Nutcombe Barn and Cider House at living room level to effectively provide accommodation in 3 king size en-suites, one twin/Super-king en-suite and one single/small twin en-suite which can sleep up to 10 people. By Claire howeard on 28-Jul-2025We arrived in Devon 19th July and the accommodation we booked was not clean leaving us no choice but to move. Luckily we found Jackie and quickly booked NutCombe Barn. We are so thankful it was free and greatful to Jackie and David who got it ready quickly for us. The barn is beautiful, spacious, homely, extremely clean and has everything you need. Jackie and David are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The cream tea was yummy! We will defintley be returning. Thank you again for an amazing holiday.

By Joanna Jones on 19-May-2025Thank you for a wonderful holiday in Nutcombe Barn. The cottage was spotlessly clean, spacious, well equipped with very comfortable beds. The views are to die for, far reaching countryside views across the most fabulous gardens. Perfect terrace for Alfresco dining, and sun loungers . The location is perfect for visiting the north Devon coast and Exmoor.
Nutcombe Barn
By Sarah Nigliazzo on 29-May-2025We’ve stayed at this wonderful Barn three times now, and it truly feels like a home away from home. Nestled in the peaceful Devon countryside, the setting is absolutely idyllic – rolling green hills, birdsong in the mornings, and breathtaking views. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Barn itself is beautifully maintained, cosy, and well-equipped with everything we need. It’s warm, welcoming, and spotlessly clean. The attention to detail is evident – from the exceptionally comfortable beds to the beautiful homemade scones and cream that make each stay special. Our little dog loves it too! What keeps us coming back is not just the barn itself, but the whole experience. Lovely walks nearby, stunning coastline to explore, and that feeling of complete relaxation you only find in places like this. Highly recommended for anyone in need of a proper countryside break. We can’t wait to return again. Thank you Jackie & David.
Nutcombe Barn
By Stepahnie Lockhart on 10-May-2025A wonderful place for a 90th birthday celebration! Perfect room arrangement for a family of 3 couples, one family with 2 small children and one family with teenage daughters. We even managed to seat all 14 round the table! Tastefully and comfortably furnished and generously equipped for self-catering, we couldn't have asked for more. The weather was beautiful so we relaxed in the garden, exercised the dogs in the paddock, took a trip to the beach and went for walks at the coast. On our last day a few of us took a trip on the Lynton-Barnstaple Steam Railway- a delightful experience. The stunning views and the peaceful surroundings with the hedgerows full of bluebells and wild garlic, lambs bleating in the fields, a sparkling night sky, birdsong and a hooting owl made this a truly memorable family weekend. Thanks, Jackie and David, for great hospitality and an excellent cream tea!

Nutcombe Barn
By Vicky Robinson on 01-Feb-2025We had a fantastic stay in April 2024, our dog loved the fields, the barn was warm, well equipped and comfortable. Jackie even kindly took the trouble to send my electric toothbrush back to me when I accidentally left it behind. The views are stunning and location idyllic, very peaceful but not too far to go to visit local attractions. We did a few lovely walks straight out of the front door. We hope to come back again soon!
