This Exmoor Cottage is a traditional farm workers country cottage on the Western edge of the Exmoor National Park with outstanding countryside all around. The changeover day is FRIDAY. We have aimed to make the cottage extremely reasonable value for the country loving holiday maker. It is serviceable clean and well equipped. It is not luxuriously furnished but rather practical and ideal for families and activity holidays such as, walkers, cyclists, surfers and those loving the outdoors or a quiet retreat (and off peak there is a discount for only two people).

Being surrounded by a large garden with extensive lawns to the rear and a pretty enclosed area at the front, there is no need to go anywhere else. But there are so many attractions in every direction. Many visitors have returned over and over again because of its superb position, traditional charm, large and attractive gardens, and the many outstanding attractions and eating places all around. The porch/conservatory provides an ideal setting to enjoy the front garden and nature in any weather. The wood-burner fire completes the cozy atmosphere.

We adore this place!

By Mr And Mrs White on 03-Aug-2018

We must have stayed here more than a dozen times. In fact tempted to give it a rotten review just to keep it to ourselves. As the description says, it’s not “posh” but it is our perfect family UK Summer holiday, away from anyone else but handy for all we want. Exmoor and nearby beaches, coffee shops etc are our idea of heaven while the 45 min drive to Putsborough and Croyde have given our teenage kids a love for surfing – our son bought his own surfboard which we transport from Liverpool to Devon each year (not too much need for it at home!). Terrific value too!

A place where we return

By Family Wanstall on 04-May-2018

Beautiful rural escape
Our family of four love this beautiful, traditional escape from the whirlwind of city life. The cottage is surrounded by countryside, and the children loved playing in the tiny stream and the garden is big enough for a huge variety of garden games. Bring a ball and have hours of fun! This corner of Devon is full of delights and we have returned four, and are planning another visit at the end of the summer. The beaches are beautiful, and there is plenty of entertainment for the children if the weather is bad (the big sheep and the zoo are both great).
The cottage is in a perfect location to access walks and the countryside, and the sky at night is simply breath-taking. The garden is full of birds of every description and the whole world seems to slow down the minute you walk through the gate. The cottage is clean and tidy, and has everything you need (although no dishwasher, it is a go slow stay!) full of character and well maintained. I would recommend this to all my family and friends for a wonderful rural retreat.

Ideal Base to Explore

By Richard, Luenna, Boys & Dogs Billy & Ted on 27-Apr-2018

Thank you for the experience at Park Cottage. It was an ideal base to explore. We spent Xmas eve at Lynemouth which was perfect and visited Baggy Point and Croyde Bay, Northam Burrows and Bideford.

We needed a comfortable stay whilst waiting to move to a new house and we are lucky to have found Park Cottage, which is warm and well equipped for any stay. It is in a beautiful spot very well situated to explore North Devon with it`s many varied landscapes and attractions.

Quiet & Comfortable cottage

By Jo on 29-Sep-2017

A lovely quiet and comfortable cottage perfect at the end of a day of walking
This cottage suited us perfectly as a base whilst we walked the coast path from Minehead to Westward Ho! It was comfortable and quiet and had all the facilities we needed. A good value retreat in lovely countryside and not far from the coast.

Good value retreat with large garden - returning!

By Samantha on 18-Aug-2017

Good value cottage retreat alone in open countryside surrounded by large garden.
So great we want to stay again!
The property was just perfect for us (myself, husband, 2 year old and father-in-law). Made me jealous my house wasn’t more like it.
We would love to stay again if Mary would have us (please get in touch)
Beautiful cottage, in a very picture perfect area.
Quiet location but close enough for fab day trips, so many things to do we could have stayed a fortnight!

Simple cottage in a prime location

By Family Heigrodt, Germany on 30-Jun-2017

“As a starting point for hikes and excursions in the Devon region ideally located. The sea bathing at Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Minehead are just as easy to reach as Exmoor. The cottage itself has a full (somewhat dated) decor, but everything works perfectly. The house is situated down a cul-de-sac and the garden can be used for relaxing in good weather. After the booking we were provided with all the necessary information etc. by the owners, the communication was very pleasant and really polite. Ideal for people who want to discover a region and do not need luxury.”
Translated from

Great place for a week exploring Exmoor

By Paul Robinson on 19-May-2017

This is a charming cottage quietly situated. It is exactly as described. For our family it was perfect- the young children enjoyed the large, safe garden space, and we did not miss the mod cons and buzz of the modern world. The furniture is rustic but cosy and the cottage was well equipped. Location-wise, we found it perfect for the north western Exmoor sights. From the cottage itself, you can easily walk to the Exmoor zoo, but other than that you probably need to take a short drive, but that’s the beauty- you’re alone with the farm fields!
We would certainly stay there again- great value!

Late Summer Break at Park Cottage

By Jon And Brig . Harry And Milly Wooof on 23-Sep-2016

We have had a lovely break at park cottage with our two westies who loved the gardens and the log fire. Such a cosy retreat to get away from it all, but within a short drive to many beaches and places of interest we will be back next year.
Thanks Jon and Brig . Harry and Milly Wooof

Lovely cottage with everything you need

By Jackie M on 20-May-2016

Holiday May 2015
This is a lovely cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean and tidy on arrival.
There is so much to do and so many places to visit in the area that we wish we could of stayed longer. We would definitely recommend a trip to Exmoor Zoo which is just a 10 minute walk away, and we had an enjoyable swim at The Tunnel Beaches in Ilfracombe.

Great place for a calm, peaceful break

By J.Maxwell on 18-Jul-2014

I’ve stayed here a couple of times for a week’s holiday. I work in London and it’s a great place to escape to for a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings. The beach is within easy reach and there’s plenty of great walks in the local area. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a week at this lovely place and enjoyed every minute. It is perfectly located in order to explore the nature, national park, villages and of course the sea.
