We are a small farm, now non-working except for a few chickens and three sheep. The two cottages, Rose and Bryony, were converted in 2011 from former cowsheds by the architect Nigel Stock, and are furnished with furniture from Mark Product - our expanding high end furniture business. The design is contemporary with wooden floors and fresh colours. All amenities are new and to a high standard. The cottages are all on one level with views across fields and each has a private west-facing deck with seating and barbecue. You are free to roam over our eight acres with a stunning view from the top taking in the span of Cornwall from north to south coasts.
Flexibility in accommodation is available for larger family or friends group as we have an adjoining door that will enable you to access both cottages.
For children we have a field with a swing and trampoline sunk into the ground, and lots of space to explore and make dens. We are also close to many of Cornwall's finest beaches on the north, south and west coasts. The towns of Falmouth, Truro and Penryn are all close by. A perfect base for a Cornwall holiday.
Please note that you if your party of people is more than 4, you could also rent out the adjoining cottage which will accommodate another 2 people. We have found that this works very well for a larger family group or friends.

Excellent location to explore Cornwall

By Richard W. on 06-Oct-2020

Really enjoyable stay at the end of September. The property is as described and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great as it’s in a remote location but not too far from the main road so getting around is relatively easy. Would definitely recommend this property.

Great Cottage

By D Carthy on 03-Oct-2020

Beautiful comfortable cottage with a modern well supplied kitchen as well as a barbecue in the small grassed space adjoining the cottage Good wifi and if you have time, TV. Very clean and the owners Kathryn and John clearly take this seriously in these somewhat unusual times. Two bedrooms both ensuite. You will get a warm welcome from the owners who are very helpful although there is plenty of information in the cottage about places to go and to eat or shop

Lovely views over the fields, the sheep and chickens add to the feeling of country a fox trotted by one morning, it seems buried in the country but it is within easy reach of the North and South coast and many inland attractions.

I would defiantly recommend it and will certainly consider further visits

Wonderful cottage in beautiful location

By Jenny Rew on 19-Sep-2020

We had a wonderful week in this peaceful relaxing location. The cottage was perfect home from home with everything we needed. Beautiful location but easy drive to lots of places . I especially loved the friendly free range chickens and sheep at the bottom of the garden. First visit here but will definitely return - highly recommended.

Beautiful vacation apartment in rural surroundings

By Anja on 22-Aug-2020

The apartment is tastefully furnished, super equipped (including cheese grater, peeler and enough pots and pans) and was excellently cleaned. Furthermore, the large windows and the high ceiling make it very comfortable. There is also a huge outdoor area with trampoline, which was great for our children. Kathryn is a great and courteous hostess. We will be happy to come again!

A touch of heaven

By Sue Newton on 01-Aug-2020

We have just spent a week at the cottage. Even in these times ( Coronavirus ) I felt secure and safe. There was array of cleaning products and the attention to detail about not wearing outdoor shoes inside etc reassuring.
The hosts were charming and welcoming. They were helpful indeed!

The cottages are beautifully equipped. Even better than where we are staying now. There is an array of things to do nearby, Falmouth, walks, North coast. Our teens were happy and so were we!

Thank you very much Kathryn and John for making our much needed holiday the rest and escape needed.
Hope to visit again soon.

July 2020

Great cottage in a peaceful and quiet location. Less than 30 mins drive to north coast and 15 mins to Falmouth and the Helford estuary. Well equipped and clean and the owners offer a very warm welcome. Stayed many times before and will again.

Great stay in a wonderful cottage

By Kevin on 11-Jul-2020

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Higher Lidgey, we had a great stay and enjoyed staying here as much as our first visit.

The cottage has everything we need in terms of appliances and tableware, is well furnished and has a great outdoor decking and grass area with views over the neighbouring fields some of which are owned by Kathryn so you are able to walk around those fields, one of which has a trampoline that our kids loved. There is also an outdoor tap for cleaning wetsuits and hooks to dry them on.

Kathryn and her family are great hosts, very welcoming and friendly.

The location of the cottage is great for accessing lots of different parts of Cornwall, we visited numerous beaches and parts of the North Coast between Hayle and Padstow, the South Coast between Falmouth and Maenporth, Praa Sands and also spent a day on the Lizard. All are within 45 minutes drive.

Fantastic Cottage in a Wonderful Location

By Helen Donaldson on 04-Jul-2020

We had an amazing stay at this gorgeous cottage, the location is brilliant, really accessible for the beautiful beaches on the north and south coast of Cornwall. Southern beaches brilliant for sailing and SUP's, and the northern beaches amazing for surfing. This location gave us the best of both worlds, and access to both sides gives you the best choice of the weather! The cottage was extremely comfortable and the hosts, Kathryn and John did everything to make our stay as special and memorable as possible, with advise on best beaches, cycle rides, dog friendly places and beautiful unspoilt off the beaten track beaches only locals know about. The children loved waking up to feed the chickens and collect the eggs and our dog enjoyed some fantastic walks straight from the cottage.

A truly remarkable find and we will definitely be booking again!

Stay in lovely Cornish cottage

By Kevin P. on 03-Nov-2019

We really loved our stay in Kathryn's cottage despite all the rain!

The cottage had everything we needed and was nice and warm on the colder days. The wood burning fire worked really well, the cottage was well furnished and the kitchen was really well equipped. The view of the sheep out the back of the cottage was great to wake up to and the location generally was very peaceful.

Kathryn made it clear at the start that she was available if we needed any help or advice and all of the family members we met were really friendly and helpful.

There were various games for our kids and they really enjoyed the space that the cottage provided. They also loved Meg the dog and the trampoline.

The television seemed fine the couple of times we used it and the WiFi service was good.

The location was perfect for us as allowed us to visit lots of different parts of Cornwall. Short journeys to Falmouth and Truro, and the location was great for visits to different parts of the Cornish coast. We managed to fit in walks at Cape Cornwall, Zennor, Chapel Porth, Kynance Cove and Trelissick.

Will definitely consider this property again when we visit Cornwall next year.

A Cornish Idyll

By Edward H. on 27-Sep-2019

A lovely welcome from our hostess. We stayed in Rose Cottage with 2 bedrooms. The combined lounge, dining and kitchen has views over the back deck to the neighbouring fields, as does the main bedroom. The cottage has all the appliances as advertised. There are ample opportunities for walks along the lanes and through the fields on public footpaths. The afternoon sun warms the back deck with chairs to rest and relax and a table for outdoor dining. There are shops within a short driving distance and some excellent local pubs and restaurants. The Pandora Inn was a favourite, but go early, as the car park soon fills up. A great place to stay. Thoroughly recommended for families or two couples.

By Lionei B. on 19-Aug-2019

Stopped here for one week with out 2 westies. The accommodation was comfortable clean and had all amenities. Although a countryside location it was within easy reach of many tourist attractions. Loved the enclosed garden for the dogs. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely location

By Clare B. on 22-Jul-2019

The location and layout of the of cottage suited our needs perfectly however we would like to point out a number of things that could be improved.
Living area;
- the seating was very uncomfortable and caused back ache
- the tv was outdated and inadequate and it could only be watched with a clear uninterrupted signal by using an Amazon stick which we brought with us. As there is not unlimited WiFi at the property it meant that we were forced to use more WiFi than usual. In addition the only way I could view Wimbledon effectively was on my iPad, again using WiFi. We basically couldn’t use the tv provided without adjustments of our own
- the cooker was very old and the controls were warn away and therefore difficult to use
Twin bedroom
- I was very shocked that no mattresses were provided!! Instead a large piece of cut foam had was provided as an alternative! This was quite unhygienic
Shower room
- strong mildew odour
- slippy floor
Access to property
- rethink the scallop shells, I lost my balance several times and my 82 year old mother, who is on blood thinning medication , was terrified of falling and cutting herself. My dog very sensibly walked around the shells but we were worried about his paws.
Mark and Kathryn were lovely hosts and were very understanding and eager to help especially when our dog was unwell, I would recommend this property but with some tweaks

Clean and well equipped

By Kevin W on 10-May-2019

We stay one week in this clean and well equipped cottage. We like the fireplace. It is a good place to start several daily trips in the surroundings. You need a car. We enjoyed our stay - and we hope to come back.

Wonderful Holiday

By Charlotte D. on 10-Oct-2018

We had such an amazing holiday in Cornwall and staying at Rose cottage made it all the more special. The cottage had everything we needed and also had a real homely feel about it. The great Cornish weather was fantastic and the sun shines most days, which made sitting out on the deck really enjoyable. We hope to see you again soon....

Our second stay at the cottage and we brought back more family members this time! Beautiful rural location but close enough to shops and supermarkets for essentials. Easy to access other major roads from to further explore Cornwall. The cottage is comfortable and has everything you will need for a relaxing stay. Perfect for families and larger parties too.

Rose cottage was very comfy and in an ideal location for exploring Cornwall, Falmouth is nearby as well as a few of the major supermarkets, The cottage was equiped with everything we needed and scrupulously clean. Having 2 en suites was great. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend. Pandoras Inn about 4 miles away is especially worth a visit, lovely food and waterside setting.
