Leave ReviewGreat accommodation
By Suzanne on 15-May-2025We have stayed twice before with a big group in The Barn & Byre combined but this was our first trip as a couple staying in The Byre alone and it was just as good! Perfect location, nice comfy accommodation which was immaculately presented, well equipped kitchen and a good deep bath with powerful shower. Everything you need for a great holiday!

Week's family holiday in June
By David Lyall on 01-Jun-2024We had a lovely time in Townhead Barn. The views are stunning, the walks from the door amazing. the property was well equipped and warm, and lovely to use the wood burning stove on a colder evening. We cooked in quite often (having a baby with us), and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Val was very helpful and gave us a good welcome. We would definitely be happy to stay there again. Thanks Neil for a lovely stay.
Week at townhead barn
By Alex on 25-May-2024We loved the cottage and the byre was perfect for my parents to join us in while having their own space. The location is amazing with beautiful views from every window. You can walk the imposing blencathra from the door or the lovely river walk to Keswick. The house has everything you need and is comfortable and will laid out. Very clean and communication with just was easy. Great Value to boot so will definitely look to return
Ideal place to stay
By Juliet@CreativeSTAR on 11-Apr-2024My husband and I stayed in the Byre. It was clean, warm and spacious. For example there's a room at the back where wet gear can be dried off and boots left. There were lots of extras like logs for the fire. Communications with Val, the manager, were great so the process of entry and exit were smooth. The place for parking was much appreciated beside the house as this can often be a challenge in the Lake District.
Wonderful Cottage
By Marcus on 16-Sep-2023We had the best stay in this wonderful cottage. The cottage has loads of space for all very comfortable and is really well equipped we did not find that we wanted for anything. There are the most amazing views from every window, leaving you wanting to go and explore. The cottage is situated about 3 miles from Keswick very convenient for supplies, shops and restaurants etc. There are 2 pubs just down the road in the village serving great food and dog friendly. When we arrived we were greater by Val who did a great job in showing us round the cottage and making us feel very welcome. We are already looking forward to planning our next stay at the cottage and making a return visit.
