Overview
Description
Honeysuckle is a detached, single storey stone cottage with enclosed garden and lovely views over Dittiscombe Estate. It's ideal for couples who enjoy peaceful surroundings but who also prefer to have a base from which to experience the beautiful South Hams area. With lovely views over the wildlife valley and pond, and access to 20 acres of woodland and meadows from the cottage door, guests can enjoy nature and bird-watching on the doorstep.
It is a single-story cottage with a stable-style front door leading directly to the sitting room with sofa, chair, coffee tables, log-burner, wifi and TV with streaming. There is a wood-block floor and valley view from the sitting room.
Two steps take you to the bedroom which has a king-size bed, chair, bedside tables, chest and wardrobe. The kitchen, up one step, is fully fitted with electric oven, microwave and ceramic hob, dining table and chairs. The kitchen leads to the bathroom with a walk-in shower with grab rails, basin and toilet.
The south-facing garden is accessed at the side of the cottage where there is a level gravel area with a table and chairs and is fully-enclosed with post and rail fencing with stock proof wire. From the garden you will have far-reaching views of the valley, woodland and wildflower banks.
Honeysuckle has full central heating with a gas-fired combination boiler and programmer.
The cottage is just a 10 minute drive or about an hour’s walk off-road to historic Slapton village with its two dog-friendly pubs and small community shop. A little further afield there is the huge stretch of beach at Start Bay and here walkers can join the South West Coast Path for spectacular coastal walks. The pretty estuary towns of Salcombe, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are all within a 30 minute drive.
Bath and hand towels are provided and beds are made up for guests' arrival. There is a communal car park but guests are able to unload outside the cottage door.
*As this cottage is single storey it may be suitable for guests with limited mobility but we would recommend that you call Ruth & Jon if you have specific requirements. We can advise on Accessible walks – visit our Great Outdoors page for ideas and information.

Leave ReviewMarvellous!
By Mr & Mrs Byfield on 17-Dec-2024We had a holiday Honeysuckle Cottage. It was just what we were looking for. Ruth and John were always available if we needed anything, we didn't, because everything was at hand. Definitely recommend a holiday there if you want to het away from it all. A perfect spot to for the beach, local shops and the bigger towns half hour away by car. "Marvellous!"
Could not have been better
By Levoguer on 12-May-2024Our stay in Honeysuckle at Dittiscombe could not have been better. From the warm welcome, the incredible wildlife friendly surroundings that are Ruth and Jon’s lifelong passion project, and the lovely cosy cottage perfect for a couple and their dog. If you’re looking for a break away from the business of our modern lives then this is the perfect tonic - highly recommended. We shall definitely be back to see how the rewilding continues to progress.
Great views
By M Demmer on 24-Jun-2023Dittiscome estate is a fantastic place. One could spend many, hours following the meandering paths . There are so many plant species to view/smell and animal species to see or perhaps only hear. My cottage, Honeysuckle, was a delight, comfortable well equipped and spotlessly clean……with views to die for.

Perhaps needless to add, it is a haven for dogs.
Beautiful location
By Hendy on 23-May-2023We loved our stay at Dittiscombe. The location is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are an absolute pleasure to walk around. Our elderly dog had a new lease of life and enjoyed her stay as much as we did. We we welcomed by Ruth who walked us to our accommodation and showed us around. Everything that we needed was there and very clean. The kitchen very user friendly and the newly fitted shower room a super luxury.
A perfect haven
By Holmes on 18-Feb-2023Beautiful dog friendly cottage situated in Dittiscombe Estate. Honeysuckle cottage had a nice size bedroom, compact lounge, well fitted out kitchen and very modern bathroom. The private garden afforded beautiful views over the estate. A perfect haven to be at one with nature. Our dog had 20 acres to explore which he loved. It is very peaceful and Ruth and John very friendly. Ruth, in particular, very informative about the re-wilding projects being undertaken at Dittiscombe. Lots of great information in the cottage of places to visit etc.
