The Old Mill and Cottage has 5 bedrooms, sleeps up to 14 people and the price tariff is for both properties. The Old Mill has 4 bedrooms can sleep up to 11 persos and Cottage can sleeps up to 4 persons. The Old Mill and Cottage have separate entrance gates.

The Old Mill dates from around 1750 has full of character and charm, with old beamed ceilings, an old spiral staircase and a unique tower with a magnificent views. The properties have been sympathetically restored to a high standard and is very well equipped. It is ideal venue for a family holiday get together, meeting a friends and occasional quiet stag/hen parties. It is based in Holloway, Derbyshire near Matlock. It is in a quiet rural village with general store, pubs and restaurants close by. Derbyshire is a Tourist area and there are numerous other venues to visit including the Peak National Park. Close by; The Heights of Abraham cable car ride, Gullivers Kingdom, Arkwright Mills and Crich National Tramway Museum are all minutes away, whilst Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Carsington Water and Alton Towers are all within easy travelling distance.

The Old Mill has four bedrooms; a double bedroom in the tower, a twin bedroom, an adult bunk bedroom and a family room with 2 double bed and a single bed with en-suite shower room, sink and toilet. There is a bath/shower, sink and toilet adjacent to the Twin bedroom and lounge. The lounge room has 4 settees and arm chair, Televison with SKY and WiFi. It has a large dining room with a large table which can sit 10/12 people easily plus small table that can sit 2 people. The kitchen which is adjacent to the dining room is equipped with electric cooker, dishwasher, larder fridge, toaster, microwave and kettle. The laundry room outside the kitchen has a washer drier and upright fridge freezer. The patio garden has a large Gas BBQ, tables and chairs. The entrance porch a small fridge and freezer, and tea and coffee facilities. Outside there is off road parking for up to 4 cars.

The adjacent Cottage can sleep up to 4. It has a double bed with en-suite shower room with toilet and sink. The living room has a sofa bed, small table and chairs and televison, The kitchen area has a electric cooker, fridge, washing machine, toaster and kettle. The Cottage makes up the 5th bedroom included in the price tariff. It is in the same ground but it is 20 yards away.
Booking preferably; Monday to Friday, Friday to Monday, Friday to Friday unless otherwise agreed by owner.

1. Arrival Time 3:00 PM onward, Departure Time please vacate by 10:00 AM.
2. Children are very welcome.
3. The properties are non smoking residents,
4. Unfortunately pets are not allowed,
5. Due to fire regulations, open fire is not allowed in the lounge fireplace.
6. No Bond required as we like to trust our customers but all damages or breakages must be paid for.
7. Please be quiet after 10:00 PM till 7:00 AM.
8. Please leave properties clean and tidy before vacating.

PAYMENT METHOD: 1/3 deposit required to confirm booking. Balance to be paid 6 weeks before commencing date.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Free Cancellation 42 days before commencing dates otherwise deposit is non refundable. Due to uncertain time, we advise customers to take out Travel Insurance.

Fantastic weekend

Girlie weekend reunion for my birthday. 14 of us. House was fantastic, spiral staircase took a little getting used to but apart from that everything else was amazing. Plenty of room and comfortable seating and beds. Kitchen had everything you needed. Terrance and his lovely wife made us so welcome and brought round homemade cakes for all of us for my birthday. How lovely bless them. Can’t get a taxi for love nor money but bus stop right outside. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Seriously thinking of doing again next year. Xx

Clean and comfy character cottage

The Old Mill and cottage is in a quiet residential area, but with a bus stop directly outside the property, Matlock Bath is easily accessible. Our family group of 10 had a wonderful time exploring the Heights of Abraham, Lead Mining Museum, CrichTramway Village and Matlock Aquarium. There was so much to do nearby, we didn't need to take the cars far to find adventure and interest to suit all ages. The original spiral staircase is a lovely feature - some of our group found it easier to come down the steps backwards! The rooms were all spotlessly clean and comfortable and the home was well equipped to suit the amount of guests it can sleep. The owners, who live next door, were generous, welcoming and unintrusive. Terence kindly offered suggestions of the best places to visit and Imelda baked us some delicious cupcakes midway through the week. Fresh flowers were in the house on our arrival and there was a selection of shampoos and shower gels in each bathroom. The sitting room was cosy and spacious, but we barely sat in it because we all loved to gather round the huge dining table at the end of each day. The Annexe cottage is not actually joined to the Old Mill, but to the owners property, so it is a few steps away from the main accommodation. The cottage was also very clean and welcoming. We all really enjoyed our stay. The week went by too quickly but we've made some great family memories. I've left a copy of my poetry book on the shelf in the sitting room and hope future guests will enjoy reading it!

Excellent accommodation

We were delighted with the accommodation. It is spotlessly clean and the owners Terrance and Emelda could not have been more helpful. They were very generous in leaving little extras and there was nothing that we did not have. The beds were very comfortable with lovely fresh linen . The location is excellent and is within easy reach of many places of interest. The only thing I would say is that the spiral staircase connecting the lounge to the kitchen and additional bedrooms is very steep. We were a multi generational family group of nine. We were all very impressed with the accommodation, the beautiful large lounge meant there was plenty of room for us all to relax .

Nice quirky property clean, and well kept

Ideally based for the Peak District. Total change from normal cottages in a good way. Thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting the area. Received a gorgeous chocolate cake form the owner during stay. Recommend the Jug and Glass for a meal and drinks and visits to Chatsworth House, Heights of Abraham, Tram Museum and Buxton all within easy reach of this property. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Wood.

Great Location - Great Friends - Great Value

We stayed here between Christmas and the New Year, with an extended family group, we thought the property was simply awesome. It is true the layout is a little quirky in places, but then I really like that about a property, adding character and interest. It was also decorated nicely for Christmas, perhaps a layout plan on the website would help other plan ahead with sleeping arrangements, but as I said, just perfect for us. The owners where brilliant, particularly as we had family health problems before we traveled and almost had to cancel. Though only a short stay they brought gifts a number of times, including a superb hot chocolate fudge cake (yummy!). Loads to do in the area, plenty of restaurants, walks and we managed some great clay pigeon shooting not too far away. The large lounge and plenty of sofa's make this an ideal place to use for large groups of family or friends, we also took the optional two bed annex, again lovely and ideal for our purposes. Many thanks to the owners for a lovely stay - we hope to be back in the future!
