Description

Mill Cottage is a peaceful riverside property located 4km from the coastal town of Bideford. This enchanting retreat boasts an abundance of wildlife activity in the secluded Yeo Valley, with no neighbor's nearby and stunning river views from all the main rooms; it provides an ideal place to relax after a long day exploring the beautiful Devon coastline.

The property has three bedrooms:
Bedroom 1: Superking bed which can be split into two single beds. Chest of Drawers and Wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: Double bed. Chest of Drawers and Wardrobe.
Bedroom 3: Two single beds. Tall Chest of Drawers.
Hand towels, bath towels and spare linen are provided but not Beach Towels.

The front terrace is a perfect location to enjoy the river. It includes seats, tables, parasol and a BBQ. We also have a campfire located on the riverbank which you are welcome to use. There is a bag of logs and BBQ fuel in the woodshed for the first light. The rear courtyard is a suntrap which offers additional privacy and storage for surfboards, bikes etc.

The property has a good broadband/WiFi connection throughout, plentiful power sockets and USB charging sockets in all bedrooms. Mill Cottage is an environmentally friendly property with Air Source heating and Solar Panels providing renewable energy. A welcome book with full details of the property and local information will be emailed to you before your arrival. Driveway parking is available for up to 5 cars.

The large garden borders the tidal river which can flow over the lawn to a depth of over a meter during the highest tides in Spring and Autumn. This can provide a wonderful environment for wild swimming and canoeing, however it can also provides risks and for this reason, we cannot accept liability for any injuries or losses that occur outside of the main cottage building.

Unfortunately we do not accept pets at Mill Cottage and due to the potential risks of the river, we would suggest that it is only suitable for supervised children 10 years old or above. There is no smoking inside the cottage.

Our changeover day is usually Friday for weekly bookings. We can also offer short breaks (minimum 3 nights) outside of the main holiday seasons.

A wonderful place to stay

Mill Cottage (fully-equipped) suited our needs perfectly. As the weather was cool with showers, we particularly enjoyed sitting at the large window overlooking the lawn and river, watching squirrels, the occasional pheasant and even a kingfisher. It’s in a superb location surrounded by the natural world but close enough to local towns, places of interest and the coast to make for a great holiday. On the few occasions we needed to contact Iain, he replied straightaway and was extremely helpful. Would definitely return!

Excellent place to stay for touring north devon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage it was clean and tidy on arrival with everything you would need for your stay,the outside area was like a picture postcard with a lovely tidal river running through the grounds ,great for sitting and watching wild life,nearby there is a nice off Rd walk tarka trail,we wouldn’t hesitate using this property again the owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Tranquility and Beauty

Without doubt the best cottage we have ever stayed at. As soon as we crossed the bridge we knew we had made the right choice. It does not feel like a holiday let it felt like home. Cooking facilities excellent bed we used was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and the cottage was heated throughout. Numerous chairs for sitting around outside and beautiful views.
