Overview
Description
Our cottage, Choughs, is a very good-value, self-catering holiday home, ideal for up to three adults or two adults and two children, and located right in the heart of the old village by the harbour in a quaint, peaceful and traffic-free street. It is just 50 metres from the beach but does not have a view of the sea. The cottage is homely and comfortably furnished, quite small – reflecting its 19th-century heritage as a fisherman's cottage – and traditional in style and decor. There is an electric fire in the living room, as well as a storage heater. Both bedrooms have convector heaters. Hot water for the kitchen and bath is supplied by an immersion heater, while the shower is electric. Sorry, no smoking and no dogs (but we cannot guarantee that pets have not stayed in the property). We do not accept children under four years old. Unlimited Wi-Fi.OUTSIDE
Choughs has a tiny, colourful front garden, plus a back door that leads to our shed and also to an alleyway out to the adjoining street. When arriving and departing, it is possible to park, briefly, within 20 yards of the front door to unload/load your car. At other times, you must park in the main car park at the top of Port Isaac; the walk up the hill will help work off the fresh fish and cream teas you will have enjoyed! We provide full details about where to park and costs.

PORT ISAAC
Port Isaac is a 700-year-old fishing village, nestling between the cliffs on the rugged north Cornwall coast. It has been welcoming tourists for years but retains a quaint and uncommercialised charm. Recently, it has been widely admired as the beautiful setting for TV series Doc Martin and the film The Shell Seekers. The intimate Outlaw's Fish Kitchen is just around the corner from the cottage, while Outlaw's New Road is at the top of the village – both are Michelin-starred – and there are several other great places to eat including the budget-friendly Angry Anchovy. Port Isaac is also an ideal base from which to visit Padstow (and Rick Stein's several eating venues), Rock, the beaches at Polzeath and Daymer Bay, Tintagel Castle and the National Trust's Lanhydrock House and Gardens. The Eden Project, St Michael's Mount and Tate St Ives are all within easy reach by car.

Leave ReviewGreat Location
By Kevin D on 31-Jul-2024We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Choughs Cottage. It is steps away from the lovely harbor that we saw for years on Doc Martin but thought we’d never see
Our venture to Port Isaac
By Kris M on 17-Jun-2024We loved the quaintness of the cottage. It had all we needed for our stay. After a day of exploring it was nice to come ‘home’ to sit in the living room by the fire and have a cuppa tea. Would love to go back again some day as our time was too short. The owner was wonderful and responsive to us throughout our stay. Thank you!
"Puppenhaus" mit wunderbarer Umgebung
By Karl Heinz H on 20-Aug-2023Wonderful days in a little paradise.
Tiny with everything
By Kate H on 13-May-2023This is someone's home so it is chock full of furniture and the cupboards are laden with everything you may need. Comfortable enough, with steep steps to the two upper levels. A happy place to stay. It was left cleaner than found, despite the poor vacuum. Lovely location. Enjoyed amazing coastline scenery, walks, places to visit, plenty of good eateries, and fresh seafood available. Major downside, sadly, Port Isaac is heaving with dogs, and the consequences.
Sweet Cottage in Convenient Location
By Joyce H on 30-Jun-2022Enjoyed the cottage immensely including some of the quirks of the electrical and water heating systems. Quiet street except for the gulls. Would recomment.
Lovely Fisherman's Cottage
By Kelly S on 17-Aug-2021The cottage is right in the heart of Port Isaac which is a stunning fishing village packed with history. Its definitely small but has everything you could need. It's been very well thought out. The location is outstanding and we enjoyed eating in the various local restaurants and pubs all within walking distance. The owner was very helpful and informative and we felt the whole process was stress free. There is a lot to do locally. Without driving you can do boat trips, coasteering, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and eating out. Should you drive its a great location for various towns, villages and beaches. I would not recommend it for anyone who struggles with steep steps or walking up hills or for anyone who wants to cook big meals at home very evening but for us it was perfect!
