Wow. Swallow barn - One of the best we've stayed in.
By Wendy S on 11-Jan-2020
My family and I stayed at Swallow Barn for New Year and had a fantastic week together. We found the property very homely and clean with everything we needed. We enjoyed having fires in the log burner whilst playing games and having some quality time.
The property is ideally located with wonderful views and is only a short drive to several large supermarkets. Our dog also had the pleasure of being at the property with us and enjoyed his holiday in large garden which was secure for him to play. We enjoyed days out on a boat at Lake Windermere and a hike at Helvellyn which had breathtaking views, well worth a visit! We are a family who have travelled and hired various properties in various countries over the years and we found Swallow Barn to be one of the best. Thank you Ahmad and Andrea for letting us have the opportunity of staying and being fantastic from initial booking right through to the end of our stay.
We highly recommend staying at Swallow Barn and hope to return sometime in the future.

Wonderful and relaxing cottage
By Rich S on 15-Dec-2017
Had 6 nights at Swallow Barn recently. A wonderful cottage, ideally placed for exploring the lakes or the dales.
The cottage is ideal for families or couples who want a bit of extra space. The welcome gift was a nice touch.
The cottage is clean, comfortable and pleasantly furnished. The kitchen has all you need to cater for yourself or Kendal is a very short drive if you prefer eating out.
Good base for stunning Lakes
By Christine on 21-Sep-2017
The barn was in great location, easy to find, quiet and within 5 minutes of Kendal. Spacious for just the 2 of us, the kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms were comfortable. We visited lots of National Trust properties within a 30 mile radius and enjoyed the stunning scenery.
A great time, we would recommend.

Beautiful barn in beautiful location
By The Whithams on 31-Aug-2017
Really enjoyed our stay. Just what we needed as a family. All our needs were catered for and the barn was beautiful (very classy finishes and design - probably the nicest we have stayed in and we have stayed in a few private cottages in our life time). We walked and visited many places in the lakes in and around windermere, ambleside, keswick and kendal. The kids loved it and want to go back already. Thank you for letting us stay - we will definitely be booking again

We had such a wonderful time in the Lakes, thank you so much! The barn was lovely, full of character and had everything we needed. Just seems so long ago now!

I was staying at Swallow Barn with two friends. We were on a golfing holiday. The accommodation was very comfortable and in a brilliant location. The barn was set up with every possible convenience. It was all in great order and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Swallow barn was a great place to get away from it all. Everything we needed was there, plenty of space, lovely and clean. The garden was great for the kids to have a run about (on the dry days!) A good base for exploring the lakes.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The home has everything that you need for a relaxing stay. We had 2 children and a dog (pre organised with the owner) all had their own areas where they could be themselves. The extra touches meant everything to us there was everything you could need and more. Would like to visit in summer so we could sit outside and admire the views. Thanks again!!
lovely weekend at Swallow Barn
By Lynne H on 18-Aug-2016
We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Swallow Barn. We have been to Swallow Barn 3 times in the last few years and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit – we have even been blessed with snow on the last 2 visits.
Swallow Barn is really like home from home – every eventuality catered for…..good selection of kitchen equipment/ logs for the fire/ games for the kids
Furnished to a high standard and easily accessible as it is just off the A6
Lots to do in the area – some lovely walks and pretty towns and villages to visit.
The owner, Ahmad, is very helpful. We visited in the aftermath of the floods in Kendal and he made sure that we were aware that the bridges in the town were out of action and diversions were in place.
If you are looking for a relaxing break, out of the way but not too far from civilisation, I would highly recommend Swallow Barn
Our second visit to Swallow Barn
By Caroline M on 24-Jun-2016
Our second visit to Swallow Barn. Comfortable cottage with beautiful scenery all around. Ideal location for visiting the Lakes and town of Kendal.
loved the place. It was definitely a real home-from-home
By Rebecca U on 27-May-2016
I spent six nights at Swallow Barn with my teenage daughter and we both loved the place. It was definitely a real home-from-home and we were very comfortable. We both slept 10-11 hours straight on the first two nights!
We especially liked the quiet setting, and walking down the lanes enjoying the beautiful tranquility of the surrounding countryside. Chatted with the local lady who looks after the place (sorry, I can't remember her name!) and she is really friendly. We had no problems with the place, but I'm sure if there was any issue she would be very helpful. The location is ideal - it feels out of the way yet is easily accessible and only a short drive into Kendal and about 20 minutes to Windemere/Bowness.
The barn has everything you need for a great stay. I'd definitely go back again and have already recommended it to others. Thanks for a great holiday! :)

Had such a wonderful time with the dogs to, already recommended to family and will definately return in the future.

The barn is amazing, tastefully converted and decorated
By Mark & Dawn -Nottingham on 29-Aug-2015
We recently returned from a 6 night stay at Swallow Barn. The barn is a amazing, tastefully converted and decorated with some of the original features still in place. It is well equipt, very clean and well maintained to a very high standard. The garden is well kept and a lovely retreat in the evening after the days adventures. It is situated a short drive from the local town amenities but far enough out to be situated in the countryside with amazing views of the valleys. We liked the fact that it was very quite and private and had great views from all sides. The lakes are within easy driving distance and we would recommend a drive to Ullswater for see the Aira Force waterfalls. The owners were very good at keeping us updated with arrival information prior to the visit, they are very accommodating of any requests. We are looking forward to staying in Swallow Barn again and will be recommending to family and friends. Thank you Mr & Mrs Saumtally.
