We think Ash Cottage is a little gem, affording peaceful privacy, spectacular views and easy driving access to Ambleside and the rest of the Lakes. The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated - a real home from home - and the owners, Andy and Judy, were so friendly and keen to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible, while leaving us to get on with our holiday in peace. This year was our second visit and we wouldn’t consider anywhere else to stay. We can’t wait for visit number three.
We have just returned, reluctantly, from a wonderful 7 nights at Ash Cottage. We were looking to stay somewhere where we could explore the fells with our dog and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place! The cottage is situated high up above the road and the views from the window are stunning, overlooking the Langdale Fells and beyond. The beauty of having lovely long walks direct from the door.... The cottage itself was just perfect for us. Everything we needed. A wonderful modern bathroom with a great shower, a big bath and underfloor heating, a well equipped kitchen, a cosy longe and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in! The owners, Andy and Judy, were absolutely brilliant. They met us on arrival and were so warm and friendly. Thank you for all your attention to detail in the cottage, including a well stocked bird table and feeder right outside the lounge window where we spent time over breakfast watching the birds having their breakfast! We're so glad we found this place and we hope to return again!
Perfect for two *****
Just wanted to thank you both for a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Ash Cottage.
We loved the cosy feel of it, especially the lounge/dining area with its original fireplace feature and fabulous views. So many Lake District rentals seem to cater for large numbers of people but there’s only the two of us and we didn’t want to be rattling around in an enormous property with multiple bedrooms we don’t need, and paying for the privilege! Ash Cottage was ideal for us. After long days out walking on the fells, it was wonderful to return to a relaxing bath or shower in that luxurious bathroom, have a bite to eat and then settle down for the evening in peaceful and comfortable surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed and we really appreciated being able to dry our wet clothes and boots overnight in your boiler room on a couple of occasions. The WiFi was most welcome too as 4G mobile network coverage in the area is somewhat limited. Although we came to the Lakes for a quiet getaway, it was still good to be able to stay in touch with family and friends without having to visit an Internet cafe. We hope to return some time and would recommend the cottage to others.
Welcoming and comfortable. Ideal relaxation spot.

The cottage has everything you need and is an ideal size for two. The views are amazing, both from the windows and the private patio, which is a lovely and sunny. The bed is comfortable and kitchen well equipped. The owners were very helpful and filling the bird-feeder with peanuts was a nice touch. Great location with some good circular walks possible without the need to drive. Would recommend and plan to return.
