Large period house in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with distant sea views
A quiet, rural position only 700m to the 'City'centre and 10/15 Mins walk to coastal path/beach
Our title refers to 5* as we've been fortunate enough to receive over 70 x 5 Star reviews, many from returning travellers, since we started letting Ty Glasfryn in 2015. We communicate with our guests on a personalised basis and we look forward to hearing from you if you'd like to spend some time in this wonderful part of the country.
Ty Glasfryn has been carefully renovated and furnished to a high standard. It is a stone built, former doctor's surgery and farmhouse dating from the 1850's with over 3,000 sqft of character-filled space in which you can spread out and relax. There's even a former servant's staircase which guests tell us is great for children's hide & seek!
We can sleep up to 12. There are 5 comfortable, large bedrooms with high ceilings and other Victorian features with beds for 10. The quality furnishings include mostly Vi-spring mattresses with 2 x King size, 2 x Superking size (which can be split into singles if required) and full-size bunks. There are also 2 extra adult size 'Z' beds, with comfy sprung mattresses, for use in any room if needed. A travel cot and high chair are available. Do browse through our photos to see the style of the rooms and we can supply a floor plan if required.
There are 3 showers, one bath and 4 loos in the 2 family bathrooms, en-suite and ground floor cloakroom plus a further courtyard WC and hot & cold outdoor shower for sandy wet-suits or mucky dogs! You'll gather that well-behaved dogs are welcome here.
We are surrounded by fields and yet only about 700m from the centre of St Davids, or just another short walk to the coastal path and nearest beach. There is a convenient footpath opposite which leads to a large and well-stocked supermarket past a large children's play area with swings etc (both within less than 5 mins stroll) and all the other central facilities St Davids facilities are nearby.
PLEASE NOTE : the local Google street view image of Ty Glasfryn is out of date. The Council have upgraded Glasfryn Road to incorporate a new pavement link towards the award winning Visitors Centre and then on to the middle of St Davids. This runs opposite our house and provides the opportunity to walk safely into the nearby central area without having to worry about parking in busier times.
Our location is ideal for you to access all this important and historic City has to offer, including it's wonderful Cathedral, Bishop's Palace and other monuments. The surrounding countryside and coastline within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is magnificent and has so much wildlife for you to discover with Ty Glasfryn as your base.
The house sits in approx 1/3 acre with a number of mature trees and a south facing, mostly lawned garden. The perimeter is fenced and has been made as dog-proof as possible. The driveway is gated with parking for at least 5 cars and the south facing patio has a teak table and chairs for outdoor eating. There are steamer chairs and other outdoor furniture available for relaxing and we also have a covered area for table tennis and a large, purpose built BBQ. From the first floor landing, and two of the bedrooms, there are lovely panoramic views over St Davids towards Whitesands beach which is about 2 miles away. It's a great spot to watch the sun set over Cardigan Bay too.
For all your self-catering needs we have a 4 oven Aga in a large, very well-equipped kitchen with a separate electric oven and gas hob for non-Aga users. There is a log burner in each of the two reception rooms and radiator central heating throughout. The new wooden windows are double glazed, adding to our significant investment in insulation throughout the house. We provide a large, 'smart' TV with freeview channels, a DVD player and a fibre Wi-Fi service is available for guests to use.
Ty Glasfryn is ideally suited for small or large groups providing family holiday accommodation for all generations. It offers a peaceful, comfortably spacious, well-equipped and conveniently located holiday home as a base for you to explore everything Pembrokeshire has to offer, at all times of the year.
Should you wish to stay for less than 7 nights, or arrive other than on our usual Saturday changeover day, then please ask us if this is possible and for a specific price. We do not let for less than 3 night nor do we accept bookings from Hen or Stag parties.
Lastly we have a good mobile signal at the house due to nearby phone masts. A welcome pack of basic provisions is provided on your arrival. Agricultural fields are adjacent and opposite, usually home to either cows or sheep.
If you have any questions about Ty Glasfryn or St Davids and the wider area then just let us know.
A wonderful roomy house, comfortable and homely, and well equipped. The house stands moments from the town but off on a quiet road with super views to the south and west. We all felt very much at home, and whilst a big party the house was substantial enough to accommodate all. Would certainly visit again, thank you Liz and David.
Our extended family of 11 have returned from another wonderful stay at Ty Glasfryn and as ever, we cannot think of a nicer place to spend our time together in this glorious part of Pembrokeshire. Our family has been coming to St David's on holiday for 5 generations now and staying at Ty Glasfryn is more than the icing on the cake.
Whether the weather takes us to the beach, out on coastal walks, pottering around St David's or just cosied up by the log burner the house provided every comfort necessary to ease our stay. The capacious lounge is light and warm, the smaller room is also the TV room (thank you for ensuring this doesn't dominate!), there's a lovely large and convivial kitchen/diner, every convenience provided in the large utility room, hot showers, the most comfortable bed I have slept on with lovely crisp linen and beautifully furnished bedrooms, great level lawn for football, patio for quoits, barn for endless games of table tennis well into the night and to finish with (although I could go on!) the most wonderfully generous welcome pack - organic eggs, white wine, red wine, butter, bacon, Lavazza filter coffee, fresh baked bread, butter - along with a very handy pantry of essentials to dip into if required.
Liz and David could not be more helpful and accommodating in every communication I had with them and without wishing my life away I can't wait to come back again next year!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful house with us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first week in Ty glasfryn, a beautiful house in a superb location, in wonderful west Wales. The house lived up to its 5* billing, with lots of space and top notch facilities - from family eating in the huge kitchen, to chilling out in the lounges and cricket and badminton in the garden. Just on the edge of St Davids, the house is just a short walk from anywhere but away from any crowds, and is superbly located for great beaches - our favourite was Whitesands - and coastal walking. The weather was very kind - always a bonus! - and we shall definitely return to Ty glasfryn.
We spent a week here at the beginning of July with 3 generations of family and 2 dogs. The house was absolute perfect for all our needs both inside and out. There were plenty of sun loungers in the garden for those who didn’t fancy a whole day at the beach and Whitesands is close enough to be able to pop back and forth if needed. With St. David’s itself being within easy walking distance it was ideal for our teenagers to wander in to for an ice cream and ideal for us to wander to the pub! There are plenty of options for eating out but the kitchen is so well equipped and the bbq area so well thought out that we spent most evenings dining in the garden. We have spent the last 13 years going to Cornwall but no more! We have already booked our return visit. A wonderful find. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Yet another fantastic 10 days at Ty Glasfryn enjoying everything that Pembrokeshire has to offer!
Much thought and care has been taken to make sure that you have everything you need plus more!
Can't wait to come back....and would strongly recommend.
This is our second Christmas at Ty Glasfryn and it didn't disappoint. A beautiful house and attention to detail is outstanding. It took 8 people and 2 dogs comfortably. We'll be back!!!
This house is perfect for an enjoyable holiday with extended family. It is very well placed to explore across Pembrokeshire, yet also handy to be able to wander into St David's to look around or for an evening meal. There isn't much need to eat out though - because the kitchen is so comfortable and well equipped, we didn't really want to leave the house!
Communication with the owners was very easy and they were extremely kind about a mishap that we had in the house. I can't think of anything that the owners could do to improve people's experience of Ty Glasfryn. It has everything you need, lots of space for all the family and an atmosphere that just makes you feel at home.
We were three couples on a long weekend away, the house was more than big enough with plenty of space to accommodate us all.
David & Liz have thought of everything the house is so well equipped and the 'Welcome Pack' was a lovely touch.
The bed linen and mattresses were of a really high standard we all slept really well.
Walking distance to town & plenty of day hikes from the front door, so you can ditch the car if you want to.
Look forward to another trip next year.
Such a wonderful home to stay in ! - and such a beautiful location ! Can’t wait to return !
This is by far the nicest house we've ever stayed in on any holiday in Pembrokeshire ! It has everything you could possibly want and more and has such a lovely homey feel ! Beautiful rooms and a fantastic hot shower outside for those returning from a days surfing ! What a treat !
This is such a beautiful area - we have been coming to Pembrokeshire for about 17 years now and we love it more and more every time - thank you David and Liz, and for your excellent and prompt help on any queries we had ! Ten out of ten and more !
The Leggett clan !
Beautiful bedrooms, lovely walled garden, very child friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere, welcome basket very hospitable! Location is superb, walking distance to playground, shops, restaurants and cathedral. Numerous beaches and walks in the nearby area. The beds are rather soft, we prefer harder mattresses. Cosy kitchen with lots of equipment for bigger groups. Loved our stay and will go back for sure!
Ty Glasfryn was the perfect spot for our family holiday - three generations of us, ranging from grandparents to a five month old baby and an eight month old Daschund. The location couldn’t have been better; we enjoyed walking into St Davids and the closeness of Caerfai beach. We were very lucky with the weather and tried out other local beaches too, none more than ten minutes drive away. Our favourite was Porthmelgan, a short walk from Whitesands - it was very quiet and quite idyllic. The house is spacious and superbly well equipped. We enjoyed the garden too, with a keenly fought table tennis tournament providing much entertainment! Liz and David couldn’t have been more helpful hosts and we cannot recommend this house highly enough. We would love to return.
Ty Glasfryn is quite simply one of the nicest places you could ever hope to stay. We first came in 2016 (having returned to the area for family holidays in 2003) and nothing else compares. From the convivial kitchen/dining room, the light and airy yet cosy lounge with double patio doors and a woodburner for those chillier summer evenings, the level grass garden for energetic games of footie and the table tennis table for some very competitive matches, nooks and crannies inside and out for hide and seek and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in - I could go on but the house, its conversion and its furnishings have been so well executed. David and Liz could not be more helpful and accommodating with excellent communication and consideration not just in how the house has been thoughtfully renovated and prepared for holiday guests (the most generous welcome package!) but in happily responding to any query or request that I have made. it is very, very well thought out house with attention given in all the right areas to make it a very comfortable and luxurious place to spend without ever feeling it has been 'overdone'. Thank you both so much for renting out and sharing such a fabulous home!
The location is brilliant, your in walking distance of a brilliant park, the supermarket and centre, as well as easy access to the coastal path and climbing. There's easy off road cycling at the airfield just a few miles away, which was brilliant for the kids.
The shed is well equipped if there's any beach toy you may have forgotten and the graden is a really good size.
The house is well equipped and well laid out, especially for sporting kit.
David and Liz are very easy to communicate with and they have a great property, that I would recommend to anyone.
Having read previous reviews, all we can say is "Hear hear"! To have 66 5-star reviews speaks for itself.
Our party ranged in age from 21 months to 75 years and everyone was equally impressed by the house itself, the location, the garden, the furnishings, the comfort and the cleanliness.
We were fortunate to have fabulous weather.
Boat trips were made to Skomer & Ramsey Islands
Walks included Treginnis peninsula (sitings of chough), Mathry to Abermawr Beach through the bluebell wood & the Caerfai-Porth Clais circuit from Tŷ Glasfryn
We visited magical Picton Castle Gardens
Meals were partaken at Cwtch and the Cross Hotel (including cocktails!)
A huge thank you to Liz & David. None of us wanted to leave and yes, we hope to return!
If you're looking for a large, well equipped family house then you've found it and there's no need to look any further.
Ty Glasfryn is exceptionally comfortable, is beautifully decorated with quality interior furnishings and a super garden that is typically well maintained and bursting with daffodils in the woodland area, which is very pretty and beautifully cared for. The location of the accommodation is perfect - easy walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in St Davids, 5 minute drive to Whitesands Bay and the coastal path.
The house is superbly equipped, Liz and David have thought of everything even down to the matches to light the log burner.
We - my husband and I, our three (adult) children, son-in-law and three grandchildren 6yrs, 4yrs, and 4mths - really didn't want to leave.
This was our second visit and we plan a third in the next year or two.
We expected the house in St. Davids to be nice and functional, but eleven of us (including three teenagers) were so surprised at just how wonderful it was. The house is very spacious and tastefully decorated, so it feels like a very up-market home away from home without it being too over-personalised. Every part of the house was spotless, in fact it all seemed new, and there were some lovely touches such as basic provisions in the larder and well thought out instructions and local information regarding everything we could possibly think of. All the furniture was of a very high quality, which meant sofas and beds were extremely comfortable. There was enough space for us all to sit down in the two lovely lounges and it was great for all eleven of us to be able to sit round the huge dining table and eat together.
The kitchen was very well equipped, so meals were easy to prepare and there was enough room in the two fridges, freezer and oven for food to be stored and cooked. We did end up buying food in the local supermarket and were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked this was and not overpriced. What was fantastic was how close this was to the house. The property has the rare combination of being in the countryside, with all the associated peace and quiet (I particularly liked looking up and being able to see a star packed sky without light pollution), but is also only five minutes walk away from the centre of St. Davids. This meant we were able to take advantage of visiting the cathedral, eating out and wandering around without having to go far at all. The weather took a turn for the worse and there was a chance we would get snowed in (luckily there were lots of board games and books in the house were we to get bored!). The owners (Liz and David) were very supportive and helpful. I had already had quite a lot of contact with them for various reasons and they provided such high customer service. They were very kind, generous and helpful, yet professional. I think their wonderful property reflects the kind of people they are (the visitors books are a testament to this) and we decided to book again every year because we had such a fabulous time. Thanks so much!
A very well equipped house which is well maintained. It was clean and welcoming on arrival.
Log burners and central heating kept us warm despite temperatures of -6!
Great location with good access to St David's and the coastal path.
Diolch Liz and David for our first visit to Ty Glasfryn with a group of friends and Poppy, our labradoodle.
Great, well equipped and comfortable house. Fabulous kitchen and huge table to enjoy chatting and having a glass of wine while cooking. Beds all comfortable. Both lounges homely especially with the fires lit and plenty of wood available as well.
Great access to the coastal path very close to the house. Also managed a walk from Porthgain to Traeth Llyfn.
Looking forward to returning next year.
Really enjoyed the early springtime in St David's again this year. The house is spacious and comfortable and the adults and children love it. The kitchen is great for self catering, and we all enjoyed sharing the cooking and everything is so convenient. The sitting rooms are warm, light and relaxing. The beds are comfortable and the view from upstairs is over fields and countryside towards the sea. The garden is large and private, plenty of room for children to play.
There is plenty of parking space on the property so it's easy to get out and about.
It's a short walk from Ty Glasfryn into St David's which is a beautiful place. For those who enjoy walking it's perfect, with easy walks to a number of points on the coastal path. We love this holiday venue, and this house and would highly recommend it. It's the third time we've been and we are all looking forward going again. It's just fabulous.
We love this place! Never fails to provide a cosy base to either curl up in front of the log burners or enjoy winter hospitality in the St Davids pubs and restaurants after a stretch on the local beaches. We’re a group of 8 friends from college days and this is a great meeting point for us. The owners are easy to deal with and very attentive to the details, including regular upgrades of the facilities - this year the main bathroom. We hope to make it our 5th year in a row in 2019!
We had some great family time this Autumn staying in David and Liz's house. Can't fault it or them in any way from the moment of booking, during our stay, through to follow-up communication; every thing just right for us. We very much hope to return.
There were 9 of us in our party ranging from 8 years old to 70 years old and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The house is lovely, decorated and equipped to a high standard and the location is perfect for exploring. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week and we very much hope to return. I would definitely recommend this house.
Just a long weekend for 8 friends and two dogs who hadn't been to St David's before. What a beautiful part of our country, the coastline very dramatic and we were lucky enough to see some seal pups. The house was so comfortable, especially the beds. So nice to be able to cook a meal and eat together, then light the wood burner and relax. Also great to be car-free, coastal path about a mile away, bus service fantastic and local cabs if you need them.
We had a wonderful family holiday with 3 generations and two dogs in this stunning property. We were really impressed with how well equipped the house is and the level of detail to which the owners have gone to to make this a real home from home. It is very spacious accommodation both inside and out, the patio makes for a fantastic outside dining area over looking the well cared for gardens. The house has the elegance of the early 1800's complemented by all the modern necessities, you get a real feel for life as a 'Country Gent'.
The house is well located for the local ammenities of St. Davids but without being in amongst it. It is easy to find and the parking is good, I cannot recommend this house enough it is one of the best places we have ever stayed in.
The things we really liked
The large well equiped kitchen diner.
The sunny patio with table and chairs.
Light and airy main sitting room.
Outside dog shower and servants stairs (first time we have stopped anywhere with these).
Well done Liz and David 10 out of 10.
Ty Glasfryn is a superb, well maintained and equipped and conveniently located holiday home. Our family of 10 with ages ranging from 75 to 2 years spent a very happy, comfortable and memorable 2 weeks there.
On arrival, we found the house to be all that we had hoped for and more. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. The presence of 2 lounges, one with TV and DVD player and the other without provided the opportunity for those wishing quiet comfort to separate themselves from the media demanding youngsters ! We appreciated the kitchen and separate utility room both of which were generously equipped and the supply of cutlery and crockery was more than enough for a house full. We all slept very well in the well proportioned bedrooms and comfortable beds. Due to the carpeting throughout, the house was quiet.
We enjoyed the wide variety of games provided and the large garden with delightful lawn and very well appointed BBQ area. The undercover table tennis table was put to good use and provided excelled pre and post prandial entertainment.
There was no need to take the car into town as Ty Glasfryn is located within an easy walking distance of all the facilities that St Davids offers...The Cathedral (of course), banks, restaurants, a range of small art galleries, pubs, shopping facilities.
This is a truly glorious part of Pembrokeshire with the coastal path offering some of the most stunning scenery in the country (if not the world). There is a large range of beaches to visit, all beautiful in their own way but we particularly liked Whitesands and the one at Druidstone Haven. We enjoyed the walk from Abereiddy to Porthgain and the fish and chips that awaited at the end. The beach at Marloes is worth a visit albeit an hour's drive away.
There is no shortage of good eating places in St Davids but we particularly appreciated St Davids Kitchen and Cwytch. At the cheaper end, The Bishops and The Farmers Arms provide decent pub meals.
A number of companies run boat trips from the Lifeboat Station. A trip round Ramsay Island in a fast moving RIB was thrilling and revealed spectacular cliff formations, seals and sea birds.
The 9 hole golf course above Whitesands was delightful and challenging and always quiet. Take plenty of balls if the wind is blowing !!
We were appreciative of the wise counsel provided by David and Liz Cooke, the generous "welcome pack" and information and the thorough cleaning of Rosie. We most strongly recommend this place.
Wonderful house. Very comfortable and well maintained. A great place to stay.
We had a great stay at lovely Ty Glasfyn. The house was spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable. It really is only 5 minutes to walk into St Davids and the nearby beaches are beautiful.
The owners were very helpful and the welcome goodies much appreciated.
We very much hope to return.
It was lovely to pull back the blinds in our bedroom and see the sea. The wonderful Whitesands beach much loved by all was a very short drive away. The house itself is very comfortable and equipped to a high standard but also comfortable. Looking over fields but being able to nip to the shop was an extra bonus. Probably the best of the many houses we have rented.
The house was amazing , with no stone left unturned, in terms of thinking about everything a family could need. The "help youself" pantry was brilliant and such a welcome ideas. The welcome pack of goodies was so thoughtful and went well beyond expectations, with lavazza coffee, wine bacon and eggs!!! wow.
The garden was the perfect setting for family times and bbqs. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the views spectacular. What more could anyone want from a holiday???
The property was perfect, so easy to live in and so well thought out. It had everything you could need for the perfect weekend with dogs, baby and family! Location was also excellent such an easy walk into town where there are lots of good restaurants, a supermarket and a play ground! We cannot wait to return. Best house we could have booked for my mums 60th birthday weekend!
It is stunning!!!!!All the family felt so at home here,so child friendly inside and out, beautiful gardens to run around in and hide and seek was the favourite game inside. It is everything as discribed and more,so well equipped. This is our second.visit and we hope to return soon.Love it !!!!
St Davids itself is gorgeous ,with its cathedral ,beaches and coastal paths there is so much to do.We went on a boat trip to Ramsey isle, well worth the money.
Our three generation family had a great stay. Plenty of space inside. Beautifully appointed but practical. we felt relaxed and safe with young kids and a dog. Great cooking and eating ( and drinking) facilities. Plenty of space outside . Most of us found the beds a bit soft but we prefer firm beds. We loved St Davids and managed a coastal walk most days , a boat trip to Skomer - puffins fabulous, golf ,table tennis and family fun on beaches. Fabulous.
Our 4th stay ( and not our last we have booked again). The house is always stunning and v high spec. We are already thinking about what to do and where to go next year, and enjoying the odd glass or 2 of wine in the wonderful garden.
What a wonderful home close to the City of St Davids and the Pembrokeshire costal path yet very peaceful position with fields all round. All seven of our party had a great time for the few days we were there. The coastal path is about 15 mins stroll from Ty Glasfryn and the city centre 10 mins away. The house has everything you need, the lovely garden is south facing so has the sun all day (if you need a rest from walking the coastal path!). The owners, David and Liz, kindly left us a welcome pack which was very generous and unexpected, thankyou both! Beautifully clean and well presented accommodation, highly recommended. We will be returning soon, many thanks, Nigel and Sue Davies.
Three generations of our family had a great time here in March. The house is very spacious and stylish, ideally suited for family holiday or several families sharing. Being recently renovated the house is very warm - even before the wood burner is lit in the lounge! The kitchen is well equipped with lots of pans, crockery etc. Loved the Aga, however there is also a conventional cooker. Although still early in the year we did manage to have lunch in the garden - nice big table and lots of chairs.
Although in a quiet, peaceful location, it is only a short walk along a footpath into St David's and not far from the Pembrokeshire coast path. The walks are good - although not as strenuous as the SW coast path the scenery is equally stunning.
The owner, David, provided lots of useful information at the time of booking and left an excellent welcome pack for us.
Hopefully we will return again at some time - it is one of the best houses we have rented in the U.K.
The property is excellent and it's the little things that make this place a lovely, warm and welcoming place to stay.
We have just had the most wonderful week at Ty Glasfryn. The house is beautiful, spacious and extremely comfortable. It is fresh and light, and has a splendidly relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is amazing. We love cooking for each other and it is such a pleasure to cook in such a well equipped kitchen with the Aga and conventional cooker. The dining table provides plenty of elbow room and comfort, and is perfect for good food and good conversation.
The garden is large and private. The children can play safely out there, and we all loved the table tennis table, even though in February we had to play with our coats on.
The view from upstairs is great, over St David's to Carn Llidi and the sea. The bedrooms are large and the beds deliciously comfortable. Just a wonderful holiday house. Can't wait to go there again.
This was our second visit to Ty Glasfryn and our stay proved to be as enjoyable and relaxing as our first visit. The house is beautifully maintained, comfortable and spacious. The weather was typical for early February, rather rainy, however, we did have several daily excursions and we were always glad to return to the welcoming warmth. We enjoyed socialising and cooking in the beautifully appointed kitchen. As a family we could all do our own thing without feeling crowded. We would have no hesitation in recommending Ty Glasfryn to our friends and we will certainly return. Thank you Liz and David
Yet another incredible weekend at this fabulous house! The gorgeously furnished rooms, stunning kitchen and cosy lounges by the fire make this the perfect retreat for a weekend away (or longer!) I couldn't have had a better stay and felt more at home. Great for families and groups of friends and dogs welcome too! I would recommend this property to anyone (I already have!) and hope to return again very soon.
This was my third trip to Ty Glasfryn, and each time I've been so impressed with the house - it's kept beautifully, has the world's comfiest beds and is so peaceful and tranquil. The walks on the nearby beaches and the information provided about local restaurants was really helpful! Will certainly be back again next year (and hopefully the year after that too!!)
I have just come back from a brilliant long weekend at this beautiful property! The house is very smart and the owners have decorated it beautifully with all of the home comforts that you could wish for! I really enjoyed my stay, it is an excellent base for exploring St Davids and the surrounding area!
Another wonderful break in this fantastic home. Ty Glasfryn is situated in the perfect spot for mooching into St Davids. Great pubs and restaurants within a 5 minute walk and beautiful coastal paths just 10 minutes away; although the house is so great you will never want to leave!
Such a beautiful house! Third time staying there and will definitely go back!! Perfect for a relaxing getaway! House is equipped with everything you need and plenty of space. Surroundings are stunning with only 5 minute walk to St David's and the cathedral. Hoping to go back next year!!
We were lucky enough to stay at this delightful house in St Davids. The house was exactly as listed, very well equipped for up to 12 people, beautifully warm & cosy in January.
The customer service was second to none, very welcoming & sincere.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this to a friend or family member, indeed I should like to return again & again myself!
The house is well placed for the nearby beautiful beach of Whitesands & has some wonderful cliff paths walks with stunning views of both North & South Wales. There is something for all ages & abilities to do using the house as a base.
Thank you for ensuring our stay was so lovely.
Ty Glasfryn is the most fabulous house, home from home in such a beautiful part of the world. It really provides all your creature comforts and then some, beautifully decorated, peaceful and a couple of minutes walk from St Davids. It was perfect for a weekend getaway with friends, stunning walks along the coast, relaxing evenings in front of the fire, delicious food prepared in a kitchen I dream of having. I can't wait to return. It was simply fabulous!!
A fantastic location and house, it really feels like a home from home with quiet incredible facilities provided in the house. The garden is dog proof and the BBQ looks fantastic, shame it was the wrong time of year to use.
Its location on the edge of St Davids gives it privacy and yet is only 5 mins walk from a range of restaurants, pubs and decent shopping including local artist shops.
Beaches nearby are fabulous and you can easily strike out from the house for cliff top walks that are truly exhilarating.
Great place, great house, great times
We'll be back
Another stay at Ty Glasfryn that didn't disappoint in any respect. The perfect place for a group of friends/families. The house is simply stunning and the high standard of decoration and facilities reflects the owners pride in the property. Fab walks/beaches and great restaurants locally. Many thanks and can't wait for the next visit.
With 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs, Ty Glasfryn offered us fabulous space over the Christmas period. A truly stunning home that literally catered for everyone. Beautiful beaches around every corner and great facilities on the village. We couldn't of asked for more.
We will be back!!!
A great weekend with friends in this beautiful house. Everything there for a perfect stay Excellent location too I'm sure we will return Thank you
This beautiful house is in a very good position close to the city .The children were safe in the lovely garden and had lots of fun playing hide and seek in the spacious house.St Davids and its surrounding beaches and countryside are a joy.xx
I have found a downside to taking on holiday lets and that is when it is constantly pointed out to me by my family how outdated our own house is. We were a family group of 10 in St David's for a wedding and I found little opportunity to escape such remarks. Ty Glasfryn was exceptionally appointed with masses of room for all ages to eat, play and be merry. For those tasked with supermarket visits, it could not have been more convenient: perhaps a 400m walk down the footpath opposite BUT beware taking those with playground leanings with you as there were also great distractions en route. Masses of places to walk and swim within a short drive. The hills above St David's Head beckoned daily.
The sun had only to wink and we were eating outside, thanks to the wide range of garden furniture. Our dogs slept in the car but it was a great relief that they could take the air by wandering outside within a securely fenced driveway.
Oh - I've always wanted an electric Aga; the dining room table is just a perfect size isn't it?; now this is a serious Nespresso machine; this dishwashers projects the time left to run onto the floor; that is a proper power shower; you can actually read in bed as the light is so good... I will obviously have to be more selective where my remaining children get married from.
We have returned from a second holiday at Ty Glasfryn and had another wonderful time. Our young adults found it the perfect place to hang out, and with two spacious reception rooms and a beautiful kitchen and dining room, we all had plenty of room to relax and enjoyed eating in, helped by such a well equipped kitchen. We enjoy the proximity to St David's and the fact that we don't need to take out the cars, and yet still have access to a large garden, table tennis and a barbecue. We love the area with its beaches and coastal walks and hope to come back soon.
This is a super place to stay within walking distance of St David's. Plenty of games and space - inside and out - so great for families with children. A joy to spend a week here.
We have just returned from a great weeks stay at 'TyG', the house is perfect, very well laid out, well equipped. Everything you need and more. All the bedrooms are lovely. Great kitchen diner and a large garden which our children thoroughly enjoyed. The outdoor shower was very handy after a day at the beach! We would not hesitate to return and were sad to leave. Liz the owner was excellent, great communication and very helpful.
We have just come back from a wonderful fortnight spent at Ty Glasfryn! This is such a beautiful property, in a truly great location. The house itself is incredibly well equipped, especially the kitchen, so we spent many hours in the lovely kitchen/ dining area where there is plenty of space to chill out and read the paper as well as to cook. We also loved the outdoor hot shower, which was so practical for our family of surfers ! The photos really don't do justice to what is easily the best holiday house we have stayed in at home or abroad ! We would absolutely love to return to this area , and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! Thankyou Liz and David for all the little touches which made our time so special !
Our extended family of 11 have just returned from the most wonderful week away in this fantastic house - I don't quite know where to start praising it! We stayed at Ty Glasfryn 10 years ago in 2006 under previous ownership and the transformation into the comfortable and welcoming domain that it is now is par excellence. The practical details are spot on with comfort and taste to the fore - and yet it is worn so 'lightly' we all felt completely at ease from the moment we stepped through the front door. Some highlights in no particular order are - huge comfortable beds, lovely quality cotton bed linen and towels, piping hot showers, cosy sofas, two woodburners (for those chilly coastal nights) plus table tennis and quoits on the patio! We had pretty good weather and some incredible surf so we were out most days but what a lovely home to come back to in the early evenings and on the one day the weather was lousy it was just such a cosy place to be!
From first contact David and Liz couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating and the welcome pack was so generous too - milk, Lavazza filter coffee, free range eggs, locally baked bread and a good bottle of red wine and bottle of white wine in the fridge! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to stay at Ty Glasfryn - it really is a gem and we can't wait to come back.
Beautifully restored, furnished and superbly equipped spacious house. The table tennis table and kitchen were highlights - very conducive to sociable evenings. Really cannot recommend this property highly enough, one of the best we have used in many British holidays. St Davids speaks for itself and this house is within it but also separate and away from the tourists. HIgh quality beds and linen added to luxuriousness. Lucky you if you are able to stay at Ty Glasfryn!
Together with our 3 (allegedly) grown-up children, we stayed for a week in this beautiful house. It really is perfect - from the generous 'welcome pack' to the spacious rooms and lovely garden. The house is beautifully presented, fully kitted out and very tastefully furnished without being intimidatingly 'Ideal Homes' - a place to relax and enjoy being with the family. St. David's has long been a favourite destination for us and, with the discovery of this lovely house has become even more special. We will definitely be back!
Our stay in St David's was magnificent, the house exceeded all our wishes and hopes, fully equipped beyond all expectations especially in the kitchen, it was truly a home from home. The rooms are all spacious and airy with high ceilings and characterful decor, it feels like a home and not a holiday house. The size of the property means you can escape and find your own privacy.
The views from the house are stunning and always changing with the mood of the weather and sunsets are very spectacular.
Outside the Garden is lovely and is both kid and pet proof, and the new B-B-Q area fantastic.
The immediate surrounds of St Davids with some great places to eat and the sensational Pembroke Coastline and beaches are on your doorstep to explore.
This location suits all types from walkers to beach lovers; and it is places like this that make your realise how beautiful the UK is and what it has to offer.
We can't wait to go back and explore more and this time for a longer period
Excellent retreat for a precious few days. Rooms are spacious and facilities of a very high standard. Loved the 'welcome' pack and 'honesty' box approach. Location was even better than we'd thought. Just a short walk into St Davids and locals very welcoming.
A stunning house with everything and more than you would have at home. An Aga plus all kitchen mod cons. Great for dogs and all ages. Had no idea that St David's and surrounding area had so much to offer. We had a fabulous time and will be back asap
We had a lovely week with friends and family as well as dogs. The house is in a great location- easy walking to the shops and the lovely beach about a 10 minute walk away as well as the coastal path. The kitchen is very well equipped and therefore eating in was easy.
We would love to return.
This is our second time now at Ty Glasfryn and we'll definitely be back. We stayed with two other families, there were 6 adults and 6 children.
St Davids is a wonderful location for a holiday, plenty to do and see. With some world class beaches within striking distance, beautiful countryside to walk or cycle, great restaurants in St Davids itself and the Cathedral with all its history and grandeur, there's always something to do and see.
Ty Glasfryn is a fantastic property. The kids loved it as there's plenty of space inside and out to play and find mischief. For the grown ups the high standards and relaxed/luxurious feel of the house lift you as soon as you walk in. If the sun is shining enjoy a G&T in the garden and if it's raining have a glass of red wine in front of the log burner in the living room. There is simply everything you need to survive on a family holiday (from table tennis table to every kitchen utensil you can think of).
If there were more than 5 stars this property would get them.
Our 3rd stay and not our last. The house and area is a favourite with all of our family. We always go home having had a great time
What a perfect place for a holiday. A lovely Grand property, perfect for our ever expanding family, from grand parents to grand children.
the photos simply don't do the property justice, the effort and thought that has been put into the property, its layout, the high quality finish and furnishings, function and customer needs are exceptional. we will most certainly be staying there again. We had a great time.
From the minute we walked in the door it was Wow Wow Wow what an amazing house and so beautifully decorated. Took our two sons two daughters in law and six grandchildren . Was warm and cozy ,the house has everything you need plus extras.
Will definitely be back.
This property is truly first class. As a family we have had plenty of experience of Xmas cottages. Wonderfully furnished and equipped, perfect location in countryside but minutes from St Davids. Good walking and beaches. Very happy Christmas. Thoroughly recommended.
Wow what a find amazing house in great location , décor and furnishings to die for and spotlessly clean. Being a group of 4 couples having 2 lounges meant we could chill out without having to watch sport ! Kitchen ,diner has everything you could possibly need and more , spent a lot of time sitting around the huge table chatting, eating, and of course drinking. All the bedrooms were special and having 2 bathrooms ,no fighting over showers etc. A lot of thought and love has been spent on ty glasfryn and we all appreciated it. We spent the whole weekend in St.davids and can recommend the Indian restaurant 'Saffron' , also the 'bishops' and ' cwtch' where we had a lovely sunday lunch even though a bit pricey. We will definitely be returning as we would like to come in better weather and use the garden and table tennis . How to spend an enjoyable weekend living like the lady of the manor ! We would definitely recommend Ty Glasfryn to all , as long as we can come back next year.
Perfect accommodation for large family, well positioned for St. David's.
Good communication with owners.
This house is one of the best we have stayed in. A great position, conveniently close to St David's, the beach and the tennis courts. Everything in the house has been carefully thought out, resulting in a comfortable, easy and relaxing stay, which was kicked off with a lovely welcome including a welcome pack for breakfast. There is no shortage of things to do in and around St Davids for adults, children and teenagers alike, from beach life, walking, tennis and good food. We would definitely recommend this property to others, but selfishly would like to keep it quite so that there is some chance that it will be free for us to use again.
To celebrate my father's 70th birthday, three generations of the family stayed in this magnificent house in a beautiful location. We had an amazing week and the property was exactly what we needed if not more. Large and spacious, good sized rooms, enough showers/toilets, big kitchen and dining area for communal dining, a large lounge for relaxing indoors and a good size garden for outdoor fun, as well as of course the table tennis in its own little outbuilding!
The house is perfectly situated on the edge of St.David's but within an easy walk to the supermarket, down a little path between fields, and close to the restaurants, pubs and shops of St.David's. Within walking distance is on small beach but many others are within a short drive.
The road the house is on is a bit of a cut-through around St.David's so just be careful walking along it, but there is a large parking area in front of the house with a big gate to pen kids in!
We are loyal fans of Pembrokeshire anyway but this house is a great find and perfect for large group or family stays. Definitely recommended!
Ty Glasfryn offered our extended family a wonderful base from which to explore a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire. We particularly liked the fact that it is surrounded by fields giving a really rural feel and yet it took about 5 minutes to walk into St Davids'.
The property was better equipped than anywhere else we have stayed on previous holidays with exceptional attention to detail, which made our stay all the more comfortable. The garden was very well maintained and secure for children and dogs.
We combined a week of relaxation with several activities all within easy reach of Ty Glasfryn. Members of our party enjoyed exhilarating coasteering, body-boarding, a trip around Ramsey Island in a rhib and a sublime concert at the cathedral, as well as numerous walks mostly straight from the front door.
David and Liz were the perfect owners and the locals welcoming and friendly. We cannot recommend Ty Glasfryn too highly.
Tŷ Glasfryn is a beautifully well-maintained and fully equipped 5 bedroom house which provided a great place for a family celebration even down to an external hot shower to wash the salt off wet suits! We were able to get all our children and grandchildren together for a family holiday and St David’s was the ideal base - close to some fantastic beaches for surfing, swimming and sandcastles but also a number of good restaurants and a great deli. The kitchen and utility room were well-equipped for any eventuality and there was a lovely garden for the grandchildren to play in; barbecue; loungers; parasol – not a thing that we wanted or needed was missing. Diolch yn fawr.
Our group of 8 walkers stayed at TyGlasfyn as a base for our continued progress along the Coastal Path. The accommodation was truly 5 star in all respects. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and the fridge and pantry generously stocked with complimentary items of food and drink. Location was ideal for quick access to a supermarket, the Coastal Bus stops and the pubs and amenities of the town. We heard it described as the best private house in the city. Thoroughly recommended especially if you are a large group of friends looking for a luxury weekend in spectacular coastal scenery. Plus the weather in this part of the world is super sunny beyond the predictions of the weather forecast - a very happy microclimate.

This is a fabulous house, located perfectly in the centre of a beautiful part of the world. The house catered amazingly well for three generations with ample space and a real touch of luxury. The owners certainly have an eye for style and detail and I can not recommend this place highly enough. At one point our three year old declared his favourite part of the holiday was going to sleep at the top of the secret stairs!! (followed quickly by beaches, ice cream and playing football in the garden!). Many thanks.
My friends and I have just returned from a Long-weekend stay in this absolutely stunning house. All 10 of us absolutely fell in love with the place and enjoyed a fantastic wedding on Saturday in the beautiful St David's Cathedral. We are all between 26 - 32 years old!
The house is absolutely gorgeous, I promise you the photos do not do it justice, it is even more stunning in the flesh and absolutely HUGE!!! Beds incredibly comfy, there is a lovely and thoughtful welcome pack with fresh local eggs, freshly made bread and even bottles of wine! Everything is well thought out and of the highest quality throughout the whole house - even with hand activated lights on the make-up mirrors in the bathrooms!
There is also a hidden little pantry area in the kitchen stocked to the brims with handy oils, spices, spreads, jams and tins of food! Absolutely everything was accommodated for - even our craving for boiled eggs, with a plentiful supply of cheery red egg cups!
Highly recommended, would return in a heartbeat and absolutely fantastic value for money!
This was our 2nd easter spent at Ty Glasfryn and will certainly not be our last visit. For both stays we have had the most wonderful weather but even if the weather hadn't been on our side the house is the best we have ever stayed in " can we buy it?" we're the words of our children as we left. Excellently equiped in all areas, really comfy for a lazy day inside or out in the child friendly garden. Glorious beaches and coastal walks on the door step, great pubs and resturants and ice cream shops in St David's , you couldn't ask for more
A fabulous, beautifully well-maintained house. Everything you could possibly need for a holiday - gorgeous decor throughout, very spacious with sitting rooms, large landing and hall areas, great bedrooms with super comfy beds - and a kitchen to die for! The garden is designed to play in, eat in or just lie around in! And for me location is key…. and Ty Glasfryn has it. A stone's throw from the supermarket to get your croissants, and a very easy stroll into St. Davids. To get to the remarkable beaches by car was easy - and they are so beautiful. Fantastic walks and lovely pubs and cafes to pop into. A gorgeous holiday.
The owners have renovated this house to an exceptional standard. The care and attention to the smallest detail is indicative of the great pride they clearly have for this beautiful property. The location is perfect with the City of St Davids, beaches, coastline walks, lovely Pembrokeshire countryside, fabulous pubs/restaurants, all within either walking distance or a short drive. The Cwtch restaurant in St Davids and The Shed Fish n Chip Bistro in Porthgain, the beaches at Newgale and Whitesands, the Coastal Path Walkway, the village of Solva and of course St Davids itself, all worth a visit. We cannot recommend this property enough and look forward to many visits in the future.
We visited Ty Glasfryn to celebrate a special birthday. It was an ideal venue for us to meet up and share the family celebrations.
The house is beautifully appointed and maintained and has a homely comfortable feel. Although we were a large family group (age range 24 to 60) we always felt that there was plenty of space - everyone could do their own thing.
Ty Glasfryn is very conveniently located within walking distance of the delightful "city" centre of St Davids and the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastal path. There are spectacular views from the house and although close to amenities it is still rural.
We intend to visit regularly.
