Location:

Seaview Village

Seaview sits to the eastern end of the town of Ryde, and is a unique village with extensive views across the sea and Solent.

Seaview has a reputation for being an upmarket resort, and as such is very popular with tourists. During the summer months the village becomes a busy centre for sailing and water sports.

There are some highly regarded places to eat in Seaview and the nearby area with a great variety of restaurants and gastro pubs offering a wonderful range of food and drink, as well as a café near Puckpool Park.

Frequent buses link the East Wight with both Ryde and Newport.

Ryde Town

Ryde is the largest town on the Isle of Wight, and with its prominent position along the seafront and hovercraft and passenger ferry links it is little wonder it is often referred to as “The Gateway to the Island”.

In addition to an expanse of sandy beaches which stretch right along the town, Ryde has a great selection of boutique shops, museums and galleries for you to visit along with lots of other things to see and do along its esplanade.

Ryde offers a great variety of things to do which will interest all ages, not least of which are the hovercraft and catamaran ferry from which you can travel to and from the mainland.

Hovertravel are the world’s oldest hovercraft operator and operate the last remaining hovercraft passenger service in Britain, whereas a trip on the Wightlink catamaran service will take you down Ryde’s recently restored early 19th century pier, which carries both vehicle traffic and train services.

Head along Ryde esplanade and you will encounter a number of great places for family entertainment, including the Superbowl and LaserQuest.

Further along there is a fun fair for young children and a very popular canoe lake which leads on to Ryde’s sandy beaches.

At low tide the sea goes out a long way making it a popular place for sports and outdoor activities, and a regular venue for beach soccer tournaments.

A beautiful place to stay

By Becky on 20-Aug-2016

The photos do not do this place justice! Really lovely area with views over the harbour. Geese, swans and ducks wandering around out the front of the house, great for the children to see. The house itself was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was so well equipped with a good size fridge and separate freezer. Note the plates and cups are in the side board in the living room, which we did not find until the 6th day of our holiday!! The master bedroom was huge, the twin was smaller as you would expect, could fit a travel cot in between the beds though. Quiet area which was perfect for us, Sandown was a 7 minute car ride away. We will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely holiday home!

Stables Cottage

A very nice cottage in a lovely location. Everything you required was provided. Mattress on double bed would be an improvement. Bit hard if you suffer from back problems.

A Lovely Cottage in a Perfect Location - Exceeded Our Expectations

By Richard on 27-May-2016

The Stables is in a lovely peaceful location close to Bembridge Harbour with attractive views. The cottage is very clean, well maintained, well furnished, comfortable and welcoming. The double bed is very comfortable (N.B. bed linen and towels are not supplied), and there is plenty of wardrobe space and clothes hangers. There is a second bedroom, which we didn't use, which has two single beds. The bathroom is light and airy with a shower over the bath. The living/dining area is spacious and well appointed including TV etc. The three piece suite is very comfortable. The kitchen is newly fitted with everything you would need including full size electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is an iron and ironing board available, and a washing line in the back garden (pegs supplied). There is a patio area outside the back door with table, chairs and sun umbrella. St. Helen's seafront is a short walk away across the causeway at the front of the property and there is a shop, pub, restaurants and bus stops close by. The owners of The Stables live locally and are very friendly and approachable. Overall The Stables is an ideal holiday cottage which we can recommend. We should also mention Anne-Marie at Island Holiday Homes who was very helpful and efficient.

Fabulous!

By Nicola on 29-Aug-2016

This is about our 15th stay on the island and I can't believe it has taken us this long to find The Stables. By far the best place we have stayed, we didn't want to leave. Spotlessly clean, equipped with everything you need and more, and fantastic views over the harbour. Landlord very helpful and friendly, recommended the fort walk at St Helens which only happens twice a year due to tides, this was an amazing experience not to be missed! We won't stay anywhere else now.

Excellent Holiday Location

By Andrew on 19-Sep-2016

Lovely holiday home. Clean and tidy inside and out. Open plan living space with Good size bedrooms and well equipped kitchen & bathroom. Stunning views over the harbour and a short 10 minute walk to local beach & local village pub which is nice. Plenty of room for our nearly 2 year old too play. She also enjoyed meeting the local ducks & geese every day. Would definitely go back!

Perfect location

By Tracy on 19-Sep-2016

A lovely house in a beautiful location. Comfortable and clean with everything you need for a self catering stay. The friendly and helpful owner lives just next door if you need anything. Good pub and restaurant just up the lane, and another couple a little further away in Bembridge. The Duver is on the doorstep, and is wonderful for walks and bird watching. This was our third stay at the Stables, and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break.
