Overview
Description
Perched in the hills west of historic Stirling, and less than an hours drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth, Garrique Cottage is an ideal base for exploring Scotland or for relaxing in the garden and surrounding countryside with friends and family, and perhaps a dog or two.. The cottage is peaceful and surprisingly spacious, with a beamed 33 foot long kitchen/dining/ living room and a separate sitting room with a wood burning stove and panoramic mountain views. French windows in the dining area lead out to decking with a picnic table and steps down to the south and west facing private garden. It provides accommodation for up to 6 people, and is all on one floor.Garrique Cottage is perfect for those wanting privacy and comfort combined with easy access to a variety of hill and woodland walks, historic homes and castles, beautiful gardens, distillery visits (notably Glengoyne and Deanston), Blair Drummond Safari Park, and other activities. A number of walks start at the back door, and offer the chance to see deer, red squirrels, hare, rabbits, lambs in the spring, and a wide variety of song birds and raptors. A hard tennis/pickle ball court is available for visitors, often with exclusive use. Up to two dogs per party are very welcome and should enjoy all the open space around the cottage as should any youngsters. On the other hand, out of consideration to those with allergies we are unable to welcome smokers ( including Vapes).
Kippen, with its two gastro pubs, delicatessen/café, well stocked and licensed village shop/post office and historic church is only four miles away by road or about 40 minutes walk over footpaths. Blair Drummond Safari Park and The Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park are close by. The City of Stirling, with its magnificent castle, historic old town, museum and art gallery, shops, supermarkets and a variety of eating places is an easy twenty minute drive, and the Wallace Monument (Braveheart), Doune Castle (Game of Thrones) and the Falkirk Wheel are all in easy reach, as is Gleneagles Hotel with its array of golf courses, spa, and multiple other activities. Glen Coe, Inverary, St Andrews, the Scottish Borders and Loch Ness can each be visited within a day. Golf courses at Aberfoyle, Balfron, Dunblane, Stirling, and Auchterarder all welcome visitors.
The cottage recently gained the Best Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage in the Central Belt Award in SME News' Best of British Getaways 2025 publication, and its third Customers Choice award from cottages.com..

Absolute gem
By Dwayne Moss on 23-May-2026Cannot fault the location, facilities, locals and the owners! We had an absolute treat for a week stay at Garrique Cottage. Fiona and Nander were the perfect hosts. The cottage was clean and tidy. Equipped with everything we needed. My 2 daughters absolutely loved the location. surrounded by rolling hills and plenty of animals to entertain them. Lovely forest area with beautifully planted Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Central enough to all you can possibly do....and far enough away to feel that country lifestyle. We will be back!!!

Our Unforgettable Garrique Stay
By Karlie Barrett on 07-Mar-2026We had the pleasure of staying at the wonderful Garrique Cottage for two weeks, and in that time, we truly fell in love with the place. The cottage is perched on top of a beautiful hill, overlooking rolling farmland with many sheep, straight out of a postcard. There are gorgeous walks right outside the back door that we went on almost everyday. The owners, Fiona and Nander, are incredible hosts. They offered helpful tips throughout our stay and checked in to make sure we were comfortable. They were thoughtful, considerate, and delightful to interact with. The cottage itself is lovely. Our favorite room was the cozy sitting room with the fireplace. It was comfortable and had a beautiful view of the land surrounding the cottage. The rooms were well equipped, the beds were very comfortable, and everything was clean and welcoming upon arrival. The kitchen had a gas stove, and the dishwasher was new and quite large, which made cleaning up after meals so much easier. We loved our stay at Garrique Cottage. It’s the perfect place to experience an authentic Scotland. The location is ideal, and the little animals and critters around the property were such a fun highlight for our family. We would absolutely come back if we ever have the chance.

Stunning! Stirling within easy reach. Cottage with mountain views and very private and peaceful. Woodland walks, dog friendly.
By Janet visitor on 08-Aug-2025When we arrived at Garrique Cottage we were overwhelmed by the location; travelling in from Stirling we realised how close the cottage is to Stirling, but the road in gives you amazing privacy and amazing views which every morning was breathtaking! Everything you need is supplied by the well equipped kitchen. Beds are very comfortable and all cleaned to a high standard. The garden surrounds the property leading to woodland walks, info provided. Parking available right outside. We stayed for 2 weeks, wish it could've been longer! So much on your doorstep... We were greeted by the owners who were so friendly and accommodating but never intruded. 100% recommend.
