Ferry House is located on a very quiet section of riverside road hugging the Exe Estuary in the pretty village of Topsham just outside Exeter. It's an ideal location with easy access to riverside activities, Devon seaside, the perfect village of Topsham and the attractive, historic city of Exeter. Wake up in the morning and you will drink in beautiful views across the river to the floating grasslands beyond. Pop across the road to the waterfront garden to enjoy your morning coffee and then stretch your legs to pick up a few items from the village shops before returning for a healthy breakfast. Then call across to the Ferryman (in season) who will be waiting to take you across the river on his little ferryboat. There are some super walks on either side of the river. Or walk up to the centre of the village and take a bus or train into Exeter to enjoy first class shopping, eating and the benefits of a thriving city. Enjoy one of Topsham's fine dining experiences. Then home for drinks at the Passage Inn, or buy your drink from the pub and take it to the little garden house to enjoy your 'sundowner' in peace and quiet.

Perfect family holiday home

By Daniel Armstrong on 28-May-2022

Lovely property in a great location. Also well equipped in general and specifically for our toddler including cot, high chair, and toys and games. Highlights of the holiday included a trip to Haldon forest for a child friendly trail, Exmouth beach, and a bike ride to Exeter and then back along the canal to the Turf Hotel for lunch ( there is an excellent bike hire shop in Topsham). Topsham itself is a really nice place just to potter around too. There is also a good playground 5 mins from the house. A great base for exploring the South west- and not as crowded as other places we have stayed in like Salcombe and Looe.

Ideal In So Many Ways

By John Wilkes on 21-May-2022

My wife and I loved our stay in Ferry House. The information provided by the owner was comprehensive and most useful. The property had everything we needed, and more. It was very comfortable and clean and the view from the bedroom was fantastic. We spent most of our time in the house watching the world go bye from this vantage point. The parking was a definite plus and we found it ideally situated for shops, walks, transport and pubs/restaurants. Our only regret was that 7 nights was not enough to do everything we wanted to do and so a return visit is most definitely on the cards.
