Welcoming, comfortable and clean

By Dean E on 23-Dec-2020

An extremely welcoming, comfortable and clean space with everything you might need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Fully equipped kitchen, large comfortable lounges, loads of space, even a separate little office if you need one. We arrived shortly before Christmas, the house was beautifully decorated. Wendy & Duncan are excellent hosts, always available for questions and to provide tips and information. My two little girls loved the space and the toys, they even got little presents next to their beds from Wendy & Duncan. The only downside is that we had to leave at the end of our holiday

Beautiful house

We spent a lovely week at Wendy's beautiful house. Wonderfully clean and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very thoughtful touches, such as bath toys for the baby. Delicious treats including a yummy cream tea on arrival.

Great place to stay

By Helen M on 24-Oct-2020

Great place to stay in for 2 adults plus 5 and 2 year old. Wendy and Duncan were very helpful. Lovely to have a basket of edible goodies on arrival. Nice to have some toys and books for the kids. Didn't seem anything was missing - hairdryer, cafetiere, dishwasher all of good quality. Spotlessly clean. Had a lovely meal in the Cyder Presse pub. Well located for trips to the coast and countryside.

Home from home

By Linda R on 04-Oct-2020

Wendy’s house is spacious and beautifully decorated. Wendy is a great host and although she lives next door she was not intrusive in any way. She made us feel very welcome and had left toys and treats for our grandson aged 3. It really did feel home from home as we had everything we needed. and more. Wendy was prompt to respond to any information we requested on the area. The village is tucked away but in easy reach of Bideford and our favourite spots of Instow and Appledore. The weather wasn’t kind to us but we still had a great week at Wendy’s place and would highly recommend it if you wish to visit north Devon.

Weare Cottage

By Graham B on 16-Sep-2020

We stayed at Weare Cottage for a total of 7 nights from 9th September 2020 with our parents, for a staycation getaway. From the moment that we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and relaxed by our hosts, Wendy and Duncan. They were very knowledge and gave us great advice over the best places to visit and eating out, but welcomed feedback and if there was anything they could improve upon.

The cottage is located just off the main lane that runs through the quaint village of Weare Giffard and getting to the nearby towns of Bideford and Great Torrington were 10 mins in either direction – handy for shops, supermarkets and other local amenities – but also for RHS Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the towns of Westward Ho!, Ilfracombe, Clovelly and Bude. There is also a circular 20-30 mins walk up into the woods which are behind the cottage where you can get a good view over the valley.

The cottage was large, with 3 big and bright double bedrooms, a relaxing lounge and a conservatory (a good spot to see the squirrels and bird spot!). It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and a great kitchen which had all of the things would need. There were little touches like hand santiser, anti-bac wipes, along with a welcome basket of tea, coffee and Devon scones which was greatly appreciated after a 7 hour drive.

Thank you for a relaxing stay and we would highly recommend this as a great place to stay in North Devon.
