In the heart of the smallest city in England, a few minutes walk from all amenities, this pretty, period, welcoming, Georgian house offers an ideal base for sampling the delights of Wells, for absorbing the historic atmosphere. and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Unusually for a city property it has a lovely, peaceful, mature garden.

It is a pretty house with character, in a street where all the houses are similarly interesting. It has a lovely, light dining room with glass door that overlooks the garden where there is a table and chairs. The kitchen is modern, well equipped with wooden work surfaces and slate floor. The sitting room is extremely spacious, warm and comfortable with a wood burning stove TV/DVD and video library. The house is lit well with thoughtful decoration. The main bedroom is very pretty and light with a recently installed king size bed. The house has a wood burner stove and central heating and is warm and cosy in the winter. The WI-FI is very good and there is a range of books, DVDs games and magazines for the quiet days! During fine weather it's possible to sit outside in the pretty, secluded garden and forgot you're in the town centre!

Apart from the magnificent cathedral (housing one of the earliest mechanical clocks in existence and Vicars Close-the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe). Wells is a beautiful market town offering a range of cafes/bars/pubs/restaurants and some lovely shops. Wells itself is within easy reach of Bristol, Bath and the limestone based Mendip Hills-offering attractions such as Bristol Zoo, the haunted Wookey Hole Caves, Clarks Village, The Roman Baths, Cheddar Gorge, the SS Great Britian, Clifton Suspension Bridge, fantastic shopping and so much more!

Further details indoors
There are two bedrooms, the double bedroom is a lovely light room with two Georgian windows and a kingsize bed with cream iron bedstead, the second bedroom has twin wooden beds. Both rooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished. The bathroom is upstairs and has a bath and overhead shower.

Further details outdoors

Fantastisch

By Susanst898 on 20-Jan-2019

A lovely gem of a place

By The Bedford, Weymouth on 06-Oct-2018

We spent a great three days in Wells, helped by the stay in this lovely cottage. Clean, warm and with everything needed for a few days stay. The Green House is just a few minutes walk away from the centre of Wells and with lots of places to eat/takeaways/pubs etc close by. We loved walking round the city and hearing music streaming out of windows of the school buildings as the pupils practised various instruments. The Bishops Palace gardens were delightful to walk around and we caught the Wednesday market . It was great to find a traditional English market selling local farmers produce as well as bags, crockery, carpets, books, plants and all sorts!

A Lovely Week

By Tallpines, Colorade on 14-Apr-2018

Must agree with all the positive reviews! The house is lovely, light and airy, with good-sized rooms. It was very quiet for restful nights. Everything is sparkling clean and worked perfectly: plenty of hot water, fast WiFi, comfy beds with nice linens, good lighting. We especially liked The Good Earth restaurant almost across the street. We appreciated the prompt and friendly communications with the owner. It was nice to be able to simply pay by credit card. We did not cook much, but the kitchen was very well supplied with a good oven, cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher. There is also a washer and I think a dryer which we did not have time to use. Decor is very pretty and there are many thoughtful touches, like books, games, videos, even toys for children. We drove to many nearby sights and always found a parking space in the next street when we returned at the end of the day. Wells is a lovely town with a beautiful cathedral. It is a pleasure to be able to stroll through town like a local. We hope to return!

Lovely house, everything we needed, so well equipped.

By Loz97 Chester, United Kingdom on 01-Oct-2017

The location is excellent, really just at the end of the main street and no more than five minutes from the cathedral. There were only two of us, but the house has plenty of space for four if needed, and is equipped with everything needed for a relaxing break. This all started with efficient and friendly communication with the owners, and the whole rental process was painless. Wells is a gem of a city, plenty to do and great shops. Don't miss the market on Saturday and Wednesday.Nearby places (Glastonbury, Cheddar and even Bath and Bristol) are easily accessible by bus, and the bus station is only two minutes away. If there was one point that may mark this property down, it's the parking, which is a bit of a nightmare. It requires extreme patience, but we did only have to resort to the pay-and-display for one short spell. The secret is to bag a apace, then use the buses to get around. Finally don't miss the pub opposite; a locals pub, but friendly, clean and tidy with cracking beer! Free pizza on Friday as well.

Beautiful property.

By Catherine M on 21-May-2017

Ideally situated, just a few minutes walk to the many shops and eating places in Wells. Also close to the wonderful Cathedral. The property is utterly charming, whoever chose the furnishings and décor has a deft touch, we thought it was fab ! Very well equipped in the kitchen, lovely comfortable beds with good quality linen. There are lots of books, dvd's and games, should the weather be inclement. The garden is beautiful, lovely to sit in, of an evening. 10 out of 10,......PERFECT !

Excellent Town house close to the wonderful City Centre

By Steve B3422 on 30-Oct-2016

We stayed at the Green House for just 3 nights on a late decision to visit Wells. We were not disappointed with the house or the City. Throughly enjoyed our stay! The booking was easy with great comms. The house is charming, well decorated and bigger than expected. The photos don't do justice to the place. We asked and were allowed to bring our dog with us. The house is an easy five minutes walk away from the City centre. Everything is close by. There is no parking during the day outside the house (except for loading and unloading) but we parked on Silver Street which is 2 mins walk away. I would highly recommend staying in the Green House if you're visiting Wells.
