Stay in a 300-year-old cottage, complete with winding staircases and beams. This cottage offers accommodation over three floors.
The main bedroom has a double bed with a twin bedroom on the top floor. The newly restyled bathroom has a large shower with a luxurious rainfall style head and a separate handset that lets you direct the flow of water with ease. The ground floor room combines kitchen, diner and lounge accommodation.
Outside is a secluded south facing garden with a table and chairs, only yards from the hustle and bustle of cobbled Church Street. PLEASE NOTE : As this property features very steep and narrow winding staircases (part of its historic appeal), it is not suitable for children under 8 years of age or persons with limited mobility.
Regrettably, we do not accept pets.
Very good communication from David via phone and email. The cottage is in a great location in a gated yard with a lovely garden area. The cottage is very cosy and is very well equipped. It's full of character and very homely. The lovely welcome pack completed a wonderful package . We would stay again and definitely recommend. We were so central to everything , we walked everywhere . Many thanks to David & Alison
Just enjoyed a wonderful New Year in this beautiful, well equipped cottage. It's full of character in a very peaceful location, yet within seconds of bustling Whitby centre.
We were charmed by the opportunities of places to eat and drink in Whitby and endless fish & chip shops! A lovely walk to Sandsend, along the beach, with the best Bakewell Tart we have ever tasted at the beach café. There are many lovely walks from the cottage and one of the joys for us was not having to use the car.
David, the owner, was very helpful and efficient, ensuring we received all the relevant information we needed beforehand.
After a day out in the cold wintry air, it was lovely to return to the embracing warmth of the cottage.
Would highly recommend and want to return.

We really enjoyed our stay at Clarks Yard -this cottage is a real gem. There was a thoughtful and generous welcome tray waiting for us when we arrived and all booking and arrival arrangements went smoothly thanks to the great communication from the owner. The cottage is in a brilliant location and we were able to park the car on arrival and we didn't use it again until we left, everything is in walking distance. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable to come back to at the end of the day. There were many thoughtful touches like flashlights,a fleece throw on the sofa and an alarm clock to name but a few. The cottage is sympathetically decorated and feels like a well loved home and not like an anonymous holiday rental. We met a few of the neighbours who were so friendly, and the shops and cafes were welcoming and helpful. It was everything we could have wished for and we highly recommend it.
We all fell in love with 4 Clarks Yard. Everything was well above our expectations. The cottage is so well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly
clean. The welcome pack was a special touch and very enjoyable. The position is excellent, just a few steps and you are into the bustle of Whitby's cobbled streets yet the cottage is a oasis of peace and quiet. There are plenty of establishments to eat at which cater for all tastes and all meals, from breakfast to supper, also good pubs with entertainment. Can recommend this cottage to anyone a real jewel.
Two of us stayed a week in this delightful cottage, it was clean, comfortable and full of character, as you would expect a fishermans cottage to be.The garden area was a real bonus, pretty & a sun trap.We were so lucky with the weather, only one wet afternoon, while we werein Scarbro.Went to Goathland on the steam train, lots of walking and tearooms!!Walked along the beach to Sandsend, collected some lovely pebbles.Mostly I cooked dinner in the cottage, but we had a nice meal in the Abbey Wharf pub, & excellent fish &chips at Trenchers.Would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone, 4 people wold definitely be comfortable.Parking worked out well for us. We parked in the free area further up the harbour side, left the car there for 3 days, then luckily we got in there again. We shall book this cottage again.
We are an elderly couple from Germany. All expectations which we had by the descriptions of the owner were accurately fulfilled. It's a historic house, adapted for today's requirements. All was clean and well-maintained. Very useful was an explorer map of Whitby and surroundings. The landscape of Yorkshire is like a jewel. That could be said according to a saying from Germany. All restaurants we chose in Whitby served food with high qualitiy. It's pure german prejudice, fish and chips couldn't be a very tasty meal. Last but not least people were friendly and open-minded, especially in our neighborhood. Probably we will have another visit there. So we can really recommend it.
Just to say a big thank you for our stay at Clarks Yard. What a fabulous cottage in a great location complete with its own sun trap . We had a marvellous time. And thanks also for the welcome pack of goodies. Highly recommended cottage and splendid communications.
This cottage is cosy, full of character, and is situated in a quiet yard within the historic quarter of Whitby. It is comfortable and well equipped, and the owners do everything to ensure that visitors are welcome and well-informed (about the house, access, parking, things to see and so on). This cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you want to feel the real spirit of Whitby. We hope to return, and would be very pleased to recommend it to family and friends.
With its central location and the standard of the cottage its just about impossible not to enjoy a stay at this place.
Whitby never fails to provide interest and enjoyment, and this cottage was the perfect place to stay, being situated in the oldest part of the town a few steps away from the dramatic ’199 steps' to the Abbey ruins, with great pubs and teashops on the doorstep.
We were delighted by the old-world charm of the wood-panelled rooms and many special touches thoughtfully provided to make the accommodation feel special and personalised. The cottage was well furnished and equipped and the bedrooms relatively spacious with very comfortable beds. We would certainly recommend others to stay here.
Highly recommend this as a place to stay - we had a wonderful time in this cottage! It was exactly as described, clean, very comfortable and well equipped. The customer service was brilliant - thank you!
