Situated in the historic old town of Whitby, just a short stroll from the colourful harbour overlooking and almost protected by the abbey ruins. Famed for its connections with Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker's Dracula, Whitby is a bustling seaside town steeped in history and boasting a 3 mile stretch of award winning sandy beaches, cobbled streets, ginnels and alleyways lined with antique and curio shops, inns and tea rooms serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine.

Impressive ships such as The Grand Turk and the Endeavour replica often visit the port. Fishing trips and the stunning Pannet Park home to the Cook Museum are all on your doorstep. Step back in time as you visit the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay untouched by the hands of time and a must when visiting this area. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is a 10 minute drive where cycle tracks and bridle paths lead to pretty little villages tucked away deep in the valleys, or take a more leisurely journey through the glorious Esk Valley into ’Heartbeat's’ very own village of Goathland on board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train.

An 18-hole golf course, crazy golf, boating, go-carting and paddling pool are all available on the west cliff. Within easy access to the market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley. Shop 20 yards, pub 50 yards. Lobster Pot Cottage has two double bedrooms - both en-suite - and a twin bedroom situated next to the house bathroom with wc, bath and shower. There is also a separate downstairs wc. A high quality travel cot and high chair are also available. Outside, there is a small rear courtyard with garden furniture and potted plants and, rare for Whitby, there is private parking for one car. Regrettably, we do not accept pets.

Love this cottage, so conveniently situated too!

By Jeanette R. on 25-Jan-2017

We have stayed at Lobster Pot Cottage twice now for winter weekends with friends , 6 of us in total. Each time we have found the cottage to be of a high standard, layout is fantastic for 6 adults, its clean and has all that we needed and more in the kitchen. All lovely clean bed linen and towels provided. The cottage location is brilliant too, right in the centre of Whitby,so no need to use the car at all. The free car parking space is a real help.

The owner, David, could not have been more helpful in providing all the information required before arriving at the cottage.

My friends and I will certainly be booking again in the future and I have no hesitation at all in recommending Lobster Pot cottage to all my friends and family.

Fantastic Location

By Ruth, East Midlands on 17-Jan-2017

We stayed at Lobster Pot Cottage for 5 days before Christmas. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 children, We found the central location of the cottage perfect for exploring the sights of Whitby, with the added bonus of a parking space.

It was very well equipped benefiting from 3 bathrooms, and 3 very comfortable bedrooms. Unlimited Wifi to keep the children happy, puzzles games and plenty of tourist information to hand.

The communication with the owners prior to and during our stay was faultless.

We would definitely recommend this cottage, and we look forward to staying here again.

A lovely cottage, great location

By Darren H. on 05-Apr-2016

We had a lovely family stay at Lobster Pot Cottage. The location is brilliant & close to the shops & restaurants. There is also a parking space allocated to the cottage which is great. The booking process is faultless & the owners are really nice to deal with. We visit Whitby at least two times a year & would certainly love to stay at Lobster Pot Cottage again.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities

By Patrucua H. on 23-Feb-2016

This cottage is perfect for a family visit to Whitby. It is very well equipped and in a prime location with easy access to the town including the Magpie, a must for every visit. On arrival the house was warm, spotlessly clean and there was a nice welcome package waiting for us, including a bottle of wine. Beds are very comfortable with good showering facilities. Great property and we will definitely be booking again.

Beautiful Cottage - perfect location !

By Anonymous on 04-Feb-2016

We stayed at the Lobster Pot Cottage for three nights and what a beautiful cottage it is. A little bit like a Tardis - so much room inside!! As we were staying with family and friends it was great to have our own bathrooms for that extra privacy - three separate bathrooms. We lost out on the 'Penthouse Suite' to my Sister as she saw it first - but all bedrooms are equally beautifully decorated and every little detail thought of. It was an extra bonus to have towels provided as we actually forgot ours. The cottage has every appliance you could think of and all are of the highest standard. All cleaning equipment was provided and was of course spotlessly clean when we arrived. Don't worry about being cold - far from it! The heating was on when we arrived and if anything we had to turn it down - albeit the weather wasn't too bad when we arrived but it was nice to walk into a lovely warm cottage. So position....................... bang smack in the middle of Whitby! Close to everything so no need to list all as you couldn't get a better position. We did the Cinder Track walk from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay which I would recommend - a nice steady 6.5 mile . A very easy walk along an old used train track - with a nice pint of the amber nectar when we arrived in Robin Hoods Bay. I don't normally like to post reviews as it means that everyone gets to find out about little gems like these - however it does seem a little bit mean to the owners not to write how lovely this cottage is so hope you find my review helpful. We are already looking at next year so we can get in early............ Enjoy!!

Wonderful Cottage

By Janice M. on 26-Jan-2016

We stayed in the cottage over Christmas and what a wonderful time we had. The cottage is very well equipped. We couldn't believe our luck that it had 3 bathrooms and a spare toilet downstairs. The cottage is really cosy and didn't feel at all cramped with six adults. We had a lovely welcome pack. We would highly recommend this cottage. We had excellent contact with the owners before we arrived. The parking is an added bonus but the main car parks are free over winter so isn't a problem. We have stayed in several cottages in Whitby and this is one of the best we have stayed in.

Long weekend at Lobster Pot Cottage

By Julie T. on 26-Jan-2016

The property was lovely and warm and was well equipped and very well situated. Parking was a bit tight, but no problem, and there were alternative spaces available on nearby car parks.

I was contacted a couple of times by the owner prior to staying and the personal touch was great and very unusual.

Fantastic Cottage in Fabulous Location

By Denice G., Lincoln on 06-Oct-2015

Amazing house . Everything we needed was there. Right in the centre of Whitby but very quiet at the same time. Just minutes from the beach & there's loads to see & do. The private car park is extremely handy. We also visited York & Scarborough. The owners are very helpful & the amount of information at the cottage means you will never be stuck for ideas on places to visit & things to do. I wish we'd booked 2 weeks instead of just 1.

Great location

By Beryl K. on 30-Sep-2015

Chose this cottage for it's central location in Whitby and the fact that it came with a parking space, a big advantage in Whitby. The cottage is an easy walk to all areas of the town, and we only used the car twice. The cottage is very comfortable and well equiped, and we did not lack for anything. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and modern.

There is little view from the front due to the buildings, except from the top bedroom window, but a 5 minute walk takes you to the cliff top, or down to the harbour and amusements.

Being so close to the centre there was some noise as people walked past and you can't turn the gulls off! However if you want to be close to the centre you cannot beat the location.

Great house

Great location

Very well appointed

Only slight downside is that the living room is a bit on the dark side during the day.

Lobster Pot Cottage

By Julie, East Midlands on 31-Mar-2015

We found the cottage charming and well appointed, the location excellent and the parking space a bonus. I have already recommended the cottage to my friends and my family are planning a return visit for later in the year.

It is the first time we have rented a property rather than stay in a hotel and David made the whole process very easy and efficient.

Perfect spot for a weekend break

By Louise, York on 04-Dec-2014

I had visited Lobster pot cottage a few years ago with a group of girlfriends and had also stayed in the cottage next door, so knew it would be the perfect spot for a winter weekend break with my husband and friends. We weren't disappointed. Spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable with ample space for 6 adults. Very well equipped and the welcome pack was a lovely personal touch.

Lobster pot cottage is ideally situated as it is very close to the harbour, shops and restaurants so once we'd parked on the Friday we had no further need for the car. There are lots of nice places to eat and drink very close by.

We will definitely return!

By Baz, Penistone, S. Yorkshire on 16-Nov-2014

The cottage is very cosy comfortable and very clean the welcome pack is very welcoming and high standard the cottages central position means that all our favourite places were in easy reach ie Magpie cafe for its excellent fish dishes the little angel pub for a evening drink, and of course church street in the older part of Whitby for its excellent pubs and of course fortunes kippers. Near the bridge Greens for the special meal at the end of our stay we enjoyed our stay very much and we will definetly be booking lobster pot cottage again very soon.
